Very true. My husband was posted in bangalore then and before I could join him, corona struck and he was left all alone in a hostel - sick, hungry and lonely. Corona khatm hote hi promotion ka moh tyaag kar gurgaon shift kar gae. Even 1night matters without a genuine caretaker- which is family❤

Kya baat kahi hai Sangwan ji aapne. I can totally relate to this. My father fights with me for his brother and sister. E.g. If I don’t invite my taya or bua to my daughter’s birthday (which was supposed to be a small function), then my father refused to show up because my wife has 3 more siblings and I have only 1 then my father was like “humari majority nahi dikhegi” so invite taya, bua, and chacha. These are that taya and bua who fixed their children’s wedding (roka) without taking my father along and my father took everyone at my wife’s home.

The "Family First" motto saved my children's future. About 20 years back my family was on the cusp of breaking due to the clash of egos, police involvement, and court case. Every advice from near and far was to get separated, but I said I put my children's future ahead of anything, including my own interest. Today both my children are well settled. Family first in India is necessary because Govt has no schemes for helping old parents with hospital expenses, attendance. Only the children are expected to be parent's guardians. This anomaly forces us to think of family first concept.

@Samir Bhalerao I fully agree. In India there is a lot of mis-trust between boss and the employees. Also there is a lot of mis-trust among the family members. Everyone seems to be thinking that the other person is a "lier" or "hiding things". Let's begin from the family and talk about the situations of our maids who work at our home. When the maid wants to take leave because of someone's illness at home, the first thought comes to our mind is, "she is lying". When I grew up and realised society's mindset, the first step I took is, NOT to ask the maid, "why do you want leave?". I allow her without asking a question. And surprisingly, our maids are very happy to work at our home. The relationship between a boss and an employee is the same as Owner and Maid, except for the fact that we make more money than maid. So, the underlying message is, "The value system begins from the family". So, Family First.

I think modern girls and bahus are main accused in this regard because they hate the family of the husband. Well… no one is putting a gun to anyone’s head to make them convert. In most cases people convert to other religions because they are dissatisfied with their own. Hindus were “happily” practicing their own religion as you have mentioned only if they were of upper castes. Ask a lower caste or SC / ST and they will not be so “happy” with the situation. Log family ko support karte hain to arjun ne bhagwan krishna ke kahne par pariwar ke hi logon ko kyun maara? Agar vibhishan ke naam pe log apne bachchon ka naam nahin rakhte hain to ye logon ki galti hai. Logon ko dharm ki samajh nahi hai.

Sir Rama and Sita sacrificed their family life and lived apart, but that feeling of doing what they did for supporting each other's duties and remaining steadfast to each other till death is exemplary. Not that because they were forced to separate physically they gave up upon each other. Till death they did everything for their duties and love for each other. Though Maa Sita separated from Ram, she knew She was the only woman in his life and she and her children were his only family. This is the emotional family bonding which is missing now.
