Great and thorough video. One thing worth mentioning is that as a class 3 bike it may not have access to as many single-track trails as those are usually limited to class 1, but for the intended buyer, that probably won't be a problem.

Purchasing a Specialized Turbo Tero 4.0 cost me 3650 euros. Delivery from Germany to Estonia, another 50 euros. Replacing a Specialized Rivo Sport saddle, steel rails, 155mm (60 euros), with a Specialized Phenom Comp Saddle 143mm (82 euros). Replacing cheap Specialized Body Geometry Fitness pedals with Shimano PD-EF202 E-Bike Flat Pedals, 30 euros. Replacing TranzX Dropper, 30.9mm, 120mm with TranzX Dropper, 30.9mm, 170mm, approximately 200 euros plus installation cost, since I myself could not reach the cable. These are necessary costs in my case. But I didn't like the curve of the Specialized Trail handlebars. I replaced it with a straight Specialized Alloy Mini Rise handlebar. I replaced the hard Specialized Trail Grips with more ergonomic Specialized Supacaz Egrip. Added a front wing from the German SKS. I can't find a suitable rear wing yet. The cost of the bike rose to 4000 euros. And there is still work to be done. :)

An extra battery is quite an investment. I haven’t found one under $1,000 has anyone seen any cheaper options? A lot cheaper to purchase a small solar generator type thing and recharge during a break. I have a very small one 146WH 42,000mah I can recharge 30-40% off of and it doesn’t take hardly any space in my bags. $130
@vegsmashedАй бұрын
Yea the extra batteries are insanely expensive. What are you using to recharge the battery? I know its not compatible with the booster that specialize sells but im trying to find something to give it any sort of charge when im chilling or resting on the go.
@JAYFEATHERBOONDOCKSАй бұрын
@@vegsmashedI’ve used the powkey 200 watt with two outlets from Amazon. If I remember right it refilled 40% of the battery in about an hour before dying. I’ve had mine since 2016 and it has worked flawless. I also run a heated blanket off of it overnight for two nights off one charge while I am camping. Only issue I’ve run into is about six months ago it started taking about four days to recharge. I seem to have to plug it in for a while unplug for a while plug it in unplug over and over until it finally tops off. Not sure what is causing that but for $120 I can probably get a replacement and have this one as a spare. For the price and size I haven’t found a similar spec’d option. I watched a video yesterday of a new anker 300 watt power station that interests me to look at it had enough battery to double the powkey but looked three times the size. I might check into that as well. a.co/d/a4wkdLy

I found the dropper post makes getting on and off easier. I can drop it at intersections and sit on the bike with both feet down.

Thank you for the great review! I have a question, would it be possible to charge the battery when it's removed from the frame? Thank you!

yes the battery can be charged out of frame.

What's that handlebar bag on it? Looks nice.

That's a Specialized Fjallraven handlebar bag and mount. If you're looking for large volume that's easy to take on and off the bike, this works great.

Hello! I have a Specialized Turbo Tero 4.0 frame size L, for a person’s height up to 185 cm. It is advisable to change the pedals on the day of purchase. Dopper Post 120 mm, short for my height 184 cm. 4-5 cm is missing. Which means my knees suffer. Will be replaced with the same one, but 170 mm. True, this is difficult to do on your own due to the fact that the cable runs behind the motor, and it is clamped with fasteners. You can't just push him through. Saddle and handlebars are individual. I replaced them with more suitable ones from the same company. So you can make this bike suitable for yourself if you put it in order. P.S. You mention Dropper Post replacement. Did you have to remove the left connecting rod and open the engine cover?
@ElectricBikeJournal4 ай бұрын
Sounds like you're really setting the Tero up to be perfect for you. In our scenario of installing a dropper post we had to remove the batter, NDS crank arm, drive unit cover. With that out of the way it was pretty simple to guide the cable and housing through. Not a particular task we would encourage most to take on themselves, we definitely would encourage going to their local bike shop.

Does the range extender battery from specialized work on this? Just bought a 2021 it’s currently only 20mph. Did you have to unlock anything to get up to 28mph? What fork would you recommend upgrading to?
@InfiniteMishaps2 ай бұрын
Answer: Took the bike to my local shop that offers Specialized bike Maintenance. They upgraded it from class 1 to class 3 and did a software update as well as battery update. All free by the way! Shout out to Velo Cafe Keller Texas for hooking me up with class 3 speeds. As for the fork upgrade. The shop recommended BOMBER Z2.
@ElectricBikeJournal2 ай бұрын
@InfiniteMishaps that’s great! We were aware specialized was offering either version but was unaware that it was just a firmware setting. Glad the shop helped you out. The z2 is a great upgrade from what it comes with. It’s a pinch heavy but well worth it at that price.
@vegsmashedАй бұрын
Not sure why no one answered your first question but no the range extender battery is not compatible. I just bought my Tero 3 yesterday and asked that exact same question. I am trying to find an alternative because an extra battery is like 1300 bucks.

@@vegsmashed I’ve found the stock battery to have great range, but it would be nice to have the bigger battery. Thank you for letting me know.

The model we had on test was Class 3. Pedal assist up to 28mph. I found on flat paved ground that was achievable consistently in the higher pedal assist modes.

Step through/mid step is not just for ladies. It’s for overall convenience of getting on/off the bike. Some people don’t want to life their leg all the way over a top tube. And for riding in a city, it makes it much easier if you are getting on/off or stopping and going often.
