Definitely also worth noting that KC has a very friendly relationship with the UFC. They stream on fight pass, they’ve sent fighters back and forth to each other like Asim says in the video, Asim coaches several UFC fighters, and the UFC allows their fighters to do grappling matches for KC while still being under contract with the UFC. So you have to take anything KC says about the UFC’s rivals with a grain of salt. That being said ONE seems very shady and I’m tired of seeing their fighters get shelved in their prime because ONE either doesn’t want to book them or can’t afford to.

So, as someone that does not have a dog in the fight, how real is this? Personally, as an outsider I think ONE is doing a fantastic job. By that I mean they are giving fans a lot of easy access to get invested in fighters w/o having to pay for insanely expensive PPV events to keep up. They at least say they care about the fighters and they certainly do promote good sportsmanship and the honorable aspects of Martial Arts instead of trash talk and WWE like drama. Their fights and rules are the best imo, fighters really go at it and there is no BS downtime or stalling. They give out a ton of bonuses for great fights. Seen a couple fighters that lost, but put on such an impressive show of heart, they got one too. On the down side, their divisions seem a little skinny. Especially the heavier weight classes. I heard, but not sure if it's true, that they pay more than the UFC. If that's true, it's great. Also got to take into consideration that say 3K you can live really well in Thailand and in the US you need that plus a few roommates not to be homeless. As for "monopoly" on the fight world in Asian cultures. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume, lets say Thailand. Lumpinee, Rajadamnern and all the smaller regional stadiums still host fights all the time, just like always and ONE is just a cash cow and not taking away? Also the whole catalyst for all this seems off? Why would ONE care or even know if a uncontradicted fighters was fighting somewhere else? Unless maybe they were planning on having him fight in a month or so and did not want him injured? I mean they use fighters from all over the world, all the time, which I assume are always fighting. They also make a big deal about getting a 100K contact with ONE all the time. Which seems pretty low. Also kinda rubs me the wrong way when fighters say win 6 in a row impressively, are basically headliners and don't get a contract quite yet? What do they have to do?! Any reasonable and informed info welcomed. P.s. Props on the interview Luke. First time seeing one from you. Very professional. Thank you.

To be fair I wouldn’t expect the promoter to be involved in the legal side of the business… I don’t expect a CEO or promoter to know everything in a contract. A disparagement policy is very common, almost every company has one to some degree. To be clear the fact a company has a disparagement policy isn’t the problem here, ONE’s specific policy is the problem. I like how the dude didn’t say a straight up No. Maybe they do but he either doesn’t know or he’s lying. The actual problem with ONE discussed here isn’t the fact they have a disparagement clause, it’s their specific policy and its enforcement. KC at this point isn’t seen to have a policy as harsh even if they do have a disparagement clause.
@stephent6014 ай бұрын
@@SUPAassassin098 As the promoter talking down on another promotion for scaring their fighters into public silence for fear of legal repercussions, I 100% expect him to know whether or not his own company has the same clauses in their contracts. He doesn’t get to act like ONE is the bad guy for enforcing a disparagement clause that his own promotion seemingly has in their contracts and has the ability to enforce if they wish. My point is, if he “doesn’t have it in his heart” to enforce a disparagement clause then it wouldn’t be in the contracts and he would know that for sure.

How many do you hear about having a policy this harsh? The specific policy/enforcement is the problem, not a non-disparagement policy in general. Unless someone shows factual data that ONE and KC have the same/similar non-disparagement clause I don’t care if KC has one in their contracts.
