Honestly, there’s nothing I would change on the boat other than its size some days. There are days where I wish I had a 27 Pathfinder but then again the 24 is smaller and thus easier to handle and clean as a one-man band. Thanks for watching.

Clay being from Maryland and doing a lot of offshore fishing there. I have a different theory on the mahi. During the summer mahi and other pelagic species will travel as far north as Maine, but heavily concentrated from the Carolinas to Hudson Canyon. Meanwhile you guys still have mahi in the keys. But as soon as the waters start to cool or the northeast those fish will head south. So during the summer you have 1000+ miles to scatter those fish, during the fall and especially winter, they get condensed in the southern portions of the Atlantic. That would be my guess on why you don’t see a lot of bigger mahi during the summer months.

You can do a lot with a boat like yours. If I didn’t live on the west coast of Florida and fish offshore so much, I’d probably trade my twin engine boat. Whenever someone who has never had a boat asks my opinion of what kind of boat they should get, I always tell them to get a big bay boat.

Great show, and love your content. But nothing compares to the old days. I have heard stories about the fisheries in the Bahamas 30 years ago. 10lbs lobster all day. You try and target Marlin , the Mahi was bigger pests than barracuda today. 100’s of Mahi 40-50lb fish average a day. 60lb black groupers eating 5lb yellowtails while trying to real them in. Conch bigger than soccer balls all over the place. We will never have that or experience anything like it. That was 30years ago, imagine 100 years ago.
