Fez is one of the imperial cities of Morocco. It is famous for being home to the world's oldest university, the University of al-Qarawiyyin (established in 859 AD and taking on the title of a university in 1963). It has an ancient walled city, which many compare to the walled city of Jerusalem.

Thanks for these videos of Fes, it really takes me back to this amazing city, which I was lucky enough to visit in 2018. What a treat to get lost in the winding alleys, the medina is 1200 years old and too narrow for most modern vehicles, so its dense layout helps to protect its heritage and culture. The markets, the intricate architecture, the multitude of artisans, the many languages and the food. It's simply beautiful.

I read one of your comments in a video of "Foresty Forest" about the age old bean-rinsing debate and thought I check you out. I have to agree, Fez was my favorite also, out of Rabat, Casablanca, Meknes (didn't get to see Marrakesh). The best food I've ever had in all my travels (mostly in Europe) was in Morocco, must have been how fresh it was prior to cooking.

They don't, they hold the rights to use the tannery also this tannery shouldn't even exist in the modern age, the water pollution it causes is insane, it should have been modernized a long time ago but locals are against it, even though over the years it has caused many to get cancer and die early deaths.

Very nice work, much appreciated. I've always wanted to walk these streets and see them & now I can pause and savor some of these views. There were holes in walls @15:25 which reminded me of the many melons ( and now the centuries of tanning leather, etc too ) which needed architecture specifically for housing of pigeon and collecting the droppings. ( @9:38 & 10:30. ) I've seen other photos from other traditional sites in Iran, etc showing these more intricate & even beautiful pigeon structures, purpose built & now maybe not so well maintained. I'm hoping someday to follow some of your footsteps. Nice choice of timing by you too, I'd say. Be well.

When I was wandering around the medinas in Morocco, I would learn the name of the gate through which I entered and then just wander aimlessly. After I had wandered around for a couple of hours, I would find a little kid, hold up a couple dirham, and name the gate. He would lead me to the gate, I'd give him the money and we were both happy. One time when I did that in Marrakesh, however, the kid gave me a strange look, led me about ten feet to the nearest corner and pointed at the gate. I'd been wandering for a couple hours and thought I was deep in the medina but had somehow circled right back to where I'd started. I gave him the money anyway.

Same like me some years ago I got lost in the souk in Cairo, Egypt. The tour guide warned us that that place is big and you can easily get lost. However I was harassed as I walked along by retailers trying to get me to buy. Then I lost my train of reference. We had to go to dinner later and I ended up half hour late to meet the bus. The tour guide was upset. What saved me was after we got off the tour bus I went into a drug store to buy some lozenges. On the bag the name of the pharmacy is listed with the address. Only then I thought about it and I asked someone and he told me where to walk exactly and I got right back to the pharmacy near where the bus was parked. Imagine fighting hand to hand combat in such an area you will lose!

Hi Gabe, I have not been to Morocco but would love to. It's on my hit list. When encountering these pushy people I used to pretend I was deaf. I had earphones in my ears and played dumb. They usually gave up and went away.

Hit the like brother standard procedure Blessed you are to be on your travels through the material life and soul core traveling to higher status of the self Great video ruined only slightly by that huge mast cells tower at the top of the hill when you were climbing it but that's for the eye to take heed Enjoy your travels and stay lucky GODBLESS 🍀♥️🙏
