@BGM16Ай бұрын
Hi. I'm from México City and I know México pretty well, the high prices you saw are common in tourist places, they are not the rule. I have visited the US and Canada many times, and the difference in prices for food, medical care, buying or renting property, electricity, water, gas etc etc is huge. México is much cheaper, for example, I live near México City- 80 km away- in a nice town with amazing weather all year round in a comfortable nice house in a horizontal condominium in a very safe neighborhood, and I pay 16,000 pesos ÷ 20= 800 USD a month, this same house would cost in the US 2,500 dollars a month. Another example, last week I got the latest Pfizer covid vaccine and paid 947 pesos ÷ 20 = 47.35 USD, in the US that same Pfizer vaccine is between 180 and 200 USD for people with no insurance. México is not for everybody I get that, but you can live a decent comfortable life here with much less money. Best regards.

The foot traffic disturbs enough soil @38:00 so rainfalls exposes many tree roots - & on the regular, it seems. Nostalgia for those OCD forest Rangers who might smile when planning to shut off trails for recovery up in US & CA. Future off trail bird blinds near Sayulita could be accomplished with an adequate lease, but enforcement might be yet another negotiation, we might guess. It would be nice to find some hammock zones - and I think you may have. Still, it's great to see how close shade might be or hanging high in a hammock there possibly. I can see@41:20 that Ganesh could be assisting with heavy moves. Maybe Bald & Bankrupt could use the help of Ganesh while he's in Syria? Be well, 🌲😎🌲

I was always told never to use a Euronet ATM; to only use an ATM connected to an actual bank in the country you are in and to select local currency.
@GabrielTravelerVideosАй бұрын
That doesn't necessarily matter. You can get charged a fee at a bank ATM as well. As I said in the video I got charged 80 pesos for the withdrawal which is $4, that's pretty typical. It's more a matter of trying different ATMs and seeing which one has the lowest fee. But at some point you have to decide if it's worth your time to walk all over putting your card into different machines in order to save a buck or two.

I didn't mind if went back to Mexico when I pass though. I used to go to a small private beach south, instead of north towards San Francisco. In the 80's is was Barra de Navidad that charmed me.
@rexx9496Ай бұрын
Mexico has become noticeably more expensive after the pandemic. There are still good deals to be found, but prices have been on the rise. Eating out in the tourist area pretty much cost the same as eating out in the US. Also, in addition to Schwab, Fidelity also offers refunds on all international and domestic ATM fees.
@carolinecaiger6717Ай бұрын

If you are looking for a similar scene but a location that might be unfamiliar with an American audience, try the Canary Islands again. Its of course the only winter beach destination in the entire EU, although its not hot, around 20c in winter id say. But you can certainly swim because of the gulf stream that keep temeratures constant around the year. I know you visited already but its a large archipelago with huge variety. Like the volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote or the rugged remote beauty of La Palma and La Gomera. Also there is still some history there besides the Spanish colonial times. The Guanches were the indiginous people and they had a fascinating culture. There are still ancient cave dwellings you can visit and things like that. Their origin is really a mystery because they lacked the skills to cross the ocean so they were really cut off from the mainland for 100s or maybe 1000s of years. There are even stories about Greek explorers who went there BC and perhaps got stuck there, because there were many blonde, blue eyed indiginous people who looked very different from the Berber tribes roaming nearby Africa, according to reports from the Spanish explorers in the 15th century. There were actual wars between the Spanish and the Guanches and the locals even managed to win some battles. Its a tragic but fascinating history, with the Gaunches making last stands on their ancient holy mountains in the interior of Gran Canaria like the Roque Bentayga and Roque Nublo. Going as far as rolling giant boulders from the mountian side in to the Spanish invaders in a last ditch attempt to stop them. To this day, DNA research show that many Canarians still have Guanches blood so they didnt disappear but rather mixed in with the Spanish invaders after their defeat. Plus, and thats always a huge bonus for me, you are basically in Spain so that means everything is maintained well, good public transportation, safe and all that. Taxi's are even good because they are state-run in Spain and prices are very reasonable and scams are rare. And I think its great for video content because you can really go island hopping so lots to see and do! Of course there are also the tourist ghetto's like Playa de las Americas on Tenerife and Playa de las Ingles on Gran Canaria but those are easily avoided if you choose to do so. Anyway, for me the perfect winter "European" destination. Oh and Merry Christmas of course and thanks for all the great travel content in 2024!!!!

Hi Gabriel. I’m a long time traveler since the 80s and have grown to love Mexico. However I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Sayulita and always hear different opinions on the Norovirus due to the sewage problems. I’ve gotten sick on several occasions due to this virus. Do you have any thoughts on this? I’ve heard it’s mostly after a rain? Is the town doing anything about it? I try to avoid the main beach and swim where you were hiking. Although the Noro is so contagious that you get it from the restaurants/bars as well. Any thoughts?
