I disagree with him. I thought the series was fantastic especially the last 3 episodes. And the chemistry between them was beautiful.

I hearitly disagree that Normal People is sadder than One Day. Normal People wasn’t tragic. It was sad but no means sadder. One Day is by far more moving for me because it really delves into human character. And the strongest scenes were the 5 episodes!! I can’t believe Im hearing this. One Day is easily my favorite and AT PAR with Normal People.

His critique is very much because he’s a man who does not fancy the lead female character, but he fancies the female lead in Normal People. For most women, Leo Woodall plays a very charming male lead that make them fall in love and wants to comfort him. I don’t agree with him. Shallow critique.

Well I personally think that’s a very shallow comment. I would urge you to familiarize yourself with the content these guys put out. Because if you did, you’d quickly realize how much they value a well rounded and well realized female character, and would NEVER be so superficial as to imply that they don’t think that character is compelling because they "don’t fancy them". Come on now…

You are absolutely right. I think he is more drawn to daisy. Normal people are ok series but one day is more related to us. One day show us the real relationship and our day to day lives and what we go through up and down in lives.😢

Normal People & One Day shouldn’t be compared to each other. They’re independent work. Your critique is shallow and lacking.

The fact that you can’t see how one series is the DIRECT result of the success of the other is truly baffling.

Yeah I have to disagree. I genuinely don’t remember how Normal People ended. It just wasn’t as captivating. The actors chemistry was okay but no where near as palpable as Leo and Ambika. The story is fleshed out and paced well. The characters are relatable. The mains of Normal People kind of feel like self inserts. I just don’t get the hype. I liked it fine, and it is by no means a bad series. It’s way better than most romances that have come out in the past decade, but it still doesn’t leave a lasting impression. I think it’s funny people keep comparing them, but they are very different. The characters are different, the emotions, the acting , the cinematography, the heart behind this project is just different with Leo being superior to anything in the past decade.

i finally finished it earlier today, and i liked the last episode it was sad and touching and i have my own losses to relate with it. but yeah all the episodes leading up to it i just did not understand why they stayed friends. like every time they got together they ended up fighting, they never seemed to me to actually enjoy each others company most of the time and were more enamored with each other by distance. and again like i say in any story like this you would expect the two people to have great long winding conversations and thats what makes them appeal to each other, but these two never seem to get past mere small talk before they have a fight. i honestly can not understand why people liked it so much, it is essentially "When Harry Met Sally" but in that film you actually see them as just friends for YEARS and they get along and have fun and have great all night conversations, and they are always there for each other when one of them had a painful break up or is going through something. here i did not really see much of that. this is an entire series and did not capture the passage of time and growth of their relationship nearly as well as that film did. and i really did not particularly feel any chemistry between them, and that is not even a shot at the actors but at the characters complete lack of chemistry. and then there is the "City OF Angels" ending, i am sure it has been done before and is not unique to that movie but thats what it reminded me off even down to the point of the Women riding her bike and a tragic accident.

I agree it's a bit rushed but I still think it hits the mark. A lot of people loved it and think the actors have great chemistry both in the show and irl ..including me. But as with all things...it's subjective. All I know is that it's a great watch and I see great things for Leo and absolutely adore him and I have a special fondness for Ambika's performance and I really hope the industry gives her a chance for bigger and better roles . I kind of feel there are some people who really wanted someone else for the role of Emma .. they wanted a beautiful girl and all that because they didnt think she was pretty enough or maybe they just saw a white girl for the role of Emma but for me Ambika is Emma. But hey we can all agree to disagree.

Why are you comparing One Day to the yawn fest over hyped Normal People? Normal People where every person of colour is problematic. One Day Netflix literally had the book's author as an integral part to the production ? Well done to BOTH leads who delivered a pitch perfect performance. Wonderful series.

@@sid_rockshard6748 I’m not sure about others but me saying I found it boring does not directly equate to it being bad. It simply wasn’t for me. There are plenty of great shows don’t even get rewarded so that isn’t really gonna sway my opinion.

The series was amazing and beautiful and heartbreaking, these reviewers didn’t watch it and really watch it Like why are you comparing it to another show, review it for what it is, don’t compare it to something else how is this a review

Has he been watching the same series? Solid performances? The chemistry and acting is incredible. Flirting with his mother? They had the most touching scenes. Very strange review.

I just didn’t really think they had any chemistry. and the whole show is sort of relying on the chemistry, so I didn’t really like it honestly :( bummer

It's nothing like Normal people. Its boring n doesnt go deep into any of the other plots. Constantly ur waiting for them to meet to be rid of the rest of the stuff. On episode 11, almost could hv skipped Through a lot of episodes.

Heya love your channel! Thanks for doing this, I am shocked how every younger girl than me is saying this is so lovely and they are in love with Dexter when to me the whole story, like is very toxic to like Dexter? Hahaha quite scary to think that looking up to a man that is incredibly sheltered and self destructs instead of ever getting help is "appealing" and also why is it normalised that Emma treats Ian like crap and she is the heroine? I think that I love how flawed the characters are in the book and in the film I think you feel more empathy towards Dexter but in this one idk who you just hate the main characters but I'm shocked no one seems to think that this romance story has v little romance ? Is like high toxic relationship through the years

I didn't hate the main characters at all, they were very human and flawed. Dexter had his issues and I don't think many people liked him when he was at his worst. That's not the version of him people fancies. And Emma wasn't mean to Ian, she was just never in love with him and it took her too long to realise. She hurt him but she's not a bad person. I think the story is about two very real characters that go through their hardships and grow up with eachother. Had they given it a go when they were young it would have never worked out.

Normalize? That’s a bit over the top. Are we normalising crime stories, or serial killers? This is a show about human beings flawed and imperfect and how they manage their lives and go through ups and downs. Life is like that and theyve captured it beautifully. The problem with people like you is you have no ounce of creative thinking and you put yourself so high above everyone else, so judgemental, so perfect. I’m sure youre so unhappy with your life the fact that you have not read the book at all, you just come on here and pretend youre so amazing with life! If thats the case Euphoria is toxic, Saltburn is toxic, Normal people is toxic! Marianne lets people use her for seggs and go as far as hurting herself! And yet everyone looovves Normal People? At least in One Day Emma has always shown from day one she’s got integrity, dignity and self respect. She has shown her bounderies and did not succumb to her best friends charm despite her being in love secretly for years. She’s also transformed herself from a struggling writer working in hospo before becoming a full fledged writer in her thirties! This is whats great about OnE Day! Almost everyone goes through this, highly relatable and realistic.
