Those columns were Roman columns that the builders salvaged from Nijmegens Roman ruins. Also, starting in Berg en Dal, there is a dug out aquaduct that supplied water for the massive Roman army camp that is situated on the ridge just a bit to the East of Valkhof.

Hi Alice you do visit amazing places, I love your tours and this was beautiful. Glad you didn't get told off on the train ! The children's zoo looked great and St Stevens church was lovely and I loved St Nicholas Chapel. They should have information boards I agree . So beautiful there :) ~ Anna 🎉

Thank you for making me more aware of such grandeur and beauty not so far from my home. I have to confess to be quite ignorant on Nijmegen. Loved what you presented here. Must use my train pass by the looks. Very worth it. You had awesome weather Alice. Glad there was a wee breeze. Thank you for showcasing Nijmegen. Loved it. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🇳🇿

Thanks Anita. I like Nijmegen, just a lovely city to walk around, especially down by the Waal River. Another Netherlands series is being planned. Rotterdam, Kinderdijk, Venlo and Eindhoven all feature next.

Karl Marx's mother was from Nijmegen, she lived in the Benedenstad. Nijmegen's synagogue is still situated there and it was Nijmegen's Jewish area.

I mention Karl Marx in my Eindhoven videos, which is coming up shortly. I also mentioned him in my Edinburgh video last year.
