My girlfriend put this movie on, I fell asleep instantly. I woke up during the skinny dipping part, my girlfriend was already asleep. I finished the movie then rewatched the whole thing again. It was that good. I could relate to the movie so much and it felt so real. No spoilers here but this movie made me reflect on my past and evaluate my future. For a good half hour I watched my gf sleep and I kept telling myself how lucky I was to have her and that everyday is a blessing. Couple weeks ago she broke up with me, on everything I hold sacred I swear I still feel the same way about her as the time I was watching her sleep. Somewhere down the road though we lost our way. If this movie taught me anything it was that life is a one way trip full of turns and detours. It should not be taken for granted. I am still a believer of us and will always be.

This movie reminds me of my best friend, twists and turns in so many years. Unfortunately, timing or place was never right, (perhaps not meant to be?) The best part was that we both told each other how we felt (at different times), so it was clear that feelings were mutual. Now we are still best friends and accepted the reality, no matter which part of the world we've lived, whoever we've lived with...I have learned that the real-life love story is not just about happy ending, is more about experiencing it. I swear the last scene where Emma says "goodbye" to Dexter two times before walking away from him while the street lights, though dim, light in the background in the evening, had my heart ache so badly I used to be called a cold monster and now I am crying, like freaking sobbing beside my dog so my family won't see me and this is so beautiful. Like its first for me for any movie(i didn't cry even after watching Titanic and Notepad). It's one hell of a ride and I really like really applaud for the director producer and scriptwriters for everything they put into this movie. I read some parts of the original book and I have to say this movie is kinda little not on the same level as book but who can put the whole book into a single almost 2 hour movie. Though the book gives you so much feels even though I read only half of it, this movie gives no less feelings and emotions in my opinion. Movie gives away so much at once that you start caring so much for the characters. You want to laugh with them, cry with them, share with them, you want them to do what you would do in their situation. You want them to get together so badly. And yet, at the same time, you love their friendship so much no love story can ever compete their relationship so much. It's so poignant and heartbreaking to watch the last scenes and I am so sad and glad at the same time I watched this movie. It would have been better if I hadn't watched it though(ughhhh I am so glad I watched it!!) cause it's been more than 6 Years since I last watched it and I am unable to erase it from my mind, as you can guess from my long POV. OVERALL, ITS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I have no lasting love story to speak of but a fleeting one that we knew was not meant to be and would leave us devastated but we anyway pursued. We met when I was 26 and him 29, we parted ways when I was 32 and him 35. Been 12 years now, not a day goes by when I don't think of him. We had nothing in common - nationality, country, religion, culture, language, it all worked against us - except an intense and instant sense of belonging that none of us could ignore. Broke me completely but I am glad I got if not a lifetime but at least some fleeting although vulnerable but honest moments of genuine soul to soul sense of belonging. Esta película ha marcado mi vida , pues me recuerda a mi primer amor , mi mejor amigo , tuvimos una loca historia de amor ,similar a la de Emma y Dexter , fuimos mejores amigos durante mucho tiempo y por dentro sabíamos que nos amábamos mucho hasta tuvimos una hermosa relación pero por temas profundos y depresivos nos separamos el inicio algo con alguien más y yo avancé como Emma , soy Maestra y él sigue amando los videojuegos , hoy en día no sé dónde estará ni que estará haciendo solo sé que mi corazón lo llama y el suyo me llama a mi en el momento preciso tal y cómo está hermosa pareja , para quien no lo ha visto , sé lo recomiendo, es todo un éxito!

The film meant a great deal to me - the film I watched before I found out I have to take a year out in uni because of grade issue, the reason of me climbing Arthur’s Seat (where Dexter and his kid went, plus him and Emma in the final scenes) and it also made me more in love with Edinburgh as a city than ever before. I hope one day I can move to Edinburgh or just experience Edinburgh again.

Remember watching this movie randomly when it was being shown on HBO. Woke up and turned the tv on. 2 hours later I am glued. Tragic ending. One of those movies that has you thinking afterwards.

I used to be engaged with a man whom I thought would be the leading man for the remaining years of my life.. We had few good years together but things started to change and we drift further apart as years passed us by. In 2012 I decided to say goodbye. Sometimes in life we meet someone who would change you in a way that you don't even Intend to. He changed me in a good way. I still think about him and what would be if we ended together. Life some times let you have and lose it. If you're lucky you get to have and to keep for the rest of your life... Cherish every little moment you have cos you'll never know it'll be last time.
