not exactly. Your Korean age is how many new years (+1) have passed since your birthday. So If you are born march 1st 2007, you would be 13 internationally but 14 in south korea.

they count the 9 months you were in your mother's body as (almost) 1 year, that's why you are automatically a year old when you were born. also you grow a year older when new year comes, not when your birthday comes. so if a baby is born on dec 31, that baby is considered 2 years old on january 1 when technically he or she is only 2 days old. myself as an example, i was born in september of 1998 so when i'm writing this comment on december 31 of 2020, i've been 22 for 3 months and i'll still be 22 when tomorrow comes. but in korea i'm 23 and will be turning 24 tomorrow.
