I have been impressed by these processors. I’m not sure why they are not more prevalent.

I’m not not sure either- the dealer here is great, inventory is good, and the price is what I expected.

Splitting wood Do you measure your firewood in metric or do you olf faithninches and cords?
@thelogfather5002 Жыл бұрын
Cords- inches and feet. Even though my processor is graduated in metric- I convert it in my head as I need to. I prefer metric to imperial in almost every other application except when dealing with wood…

Hi Jeff!!😀😀 I would hope you charge 25% more for a dump trailer load of 12 inch wood than for a dump trailer full of 16 inch wood because of the extra time it takes to process it. Take care buddy!!😀😀💚💚 Logger Al

So would 20" pieces be cheaper?
@thelogfather5002 Жыл бұрын
I charge by the cord- not the hour. 16” is the best for time efficiency from an 8’ log- 20” causes a 16” waste piece that stops the whole system to retrieve the odd piece. 12” takes longer because there’s more cuts… it’s a balance. But I don’t charge more for the odd orders.

What does the logfather think about selling dry seasoned ready to burn today firewood?Cant find anyone in southwest nova scotia selling it. Seems to me everyone in N.S. sells only fresh cut and split.
@jeanmarcleblanc9286 Жыл бұрын
I've been storing logs roadside in SW Nova on a 6-8 month rotation, selling as "semi dry" once cut and split. Same price as green stuff, customers are burning today what I delivered yesterday

I’ve been trying to educate my customers for years to buy and store next seasons wood this year… always be a year ahead. I won’t ever be able to store 400-500 full cords inside or even stacked outside- too poor use of property- and much too labour intensive to be profitable.
