Because there are no cattle grazing in the land that was previously rainforest. Meat is produced in the south grasslands and milk in the south east cerrado. But you are right on one thing. The forest is been destroyed to produce food for the cattle, just that we are talking about European and Chinese animals. Brazilian cattle culture is extensive, mostly left to feed from pasture. Honestly, the best option for Brazil would be indeed to stop producing soy for Europe and their animals would starve. Then they would be forced to remove the barriers they put to buy Brazilian meet. But Brazilian land owners are too dumb to see a foot in front of their noses so we continue to destroy our greatest asset so French cows can eat in winter.

Better to put both maps side by side rather than change from one to another, because it didn't look like too much changed (also, include a to scale map of Britain beside South America, so people in the UK can visualise the extent of change better). I'm sure the changes are really bad and very concerning in real life, but on a tablet screen (which is what most people will have these days), it looks almost negligible.

Agriculture and cattle industry sterilizes the biome that defines regional hydrology. It’s not just the Amazon transformating into savanna. The rainfall that has disappeared from the Mediterranean and the vast flooding too is the result of flying the skin of the Earth, destroying soil and the landscape that lives upon it. Ecology defines its own weather. By paving it over and otherwise sterilizing it with monoculture, the financial and industrial global economy inflicts relentless Biblical weather. If we wish to survive agriculture must be restored to the local level where it can be 6 to 100x more productive than industrial farms. It can feed localities it is not amendable to profit cash crops. This is why it is ignored

Often there are illegal mines (and legal ones) at the root of this... but much of it is also small-scale or mid-scale from smaller companies or large ones acting in smaller areas... but also just normal people making a living off cows etc... which makes this whole issue rather complicated on the ground. I was there watching it all take place, the problem is clear, the solutions less-so. I hope we can find some.

Most of that Beef goes to China. USA in 2020 allowed this garbage into our Ground Beef supply. USA needs to ban this crappy Zebu Beef from Brazil/Uruguay.

I wonder how much climate change is fuelled by the resources devoted to people with jobs just marking maps with deforestation and ice regression.

Instability Defines the End Times Instability defines our time - unpredictable world leaders, shifts in government policies and people, stock market volatility, formerly admired public and religious figures falling from grace, threats of terrorism and gun violence, and even wildly erratic weather patterns - all are making our world more and more unbalanced. As a consequence, the conflict between faith and doubt is the great reality of the time in which we live. “Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.” Luke 21:26 As our world seems to be wobbling out of control, the very fact that events in the earth are being shaken at every level should provide confidence in the Bible - these things were prophesied to happen in our day. God is working out His plan, and the end is promised to be glorious! “I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come.... and I will fill this house with glory... in this place will I give peace.” (Haggai 2:7, 9) Meanwhile, we may find our faith being challenged and we cry out: “Lord, I believe; help thou my unbelief.”Mark 9:24
