I listened to both episodes of this last night in bed. Having just listened to the Salem's Lot audiobook last week, this was a welcome surprise. When it says they turned off the highway onto Jointner Avenue, i had a moment of genuine panic 😄

Love this story (the whole NIGHT SHIFT collection in fact) & this Reading is pure Campfire Gold. I'm a closeted wannabe horror writer & it's on my bucket list to write one short story as good as my favorites in NIGHT SHIFT. (Hell, I'll settle for coming close) Thanks UK for the great story!

Watched the ‘79 Salem’s lot recently, still a classic after 40 plus years. Susan is much stronger in the series than the book & radio adaptation. Love the book , can’t wait for the long awaited new adaptation

I wonder who the narrator is? He's really good.

The narrator is Ed Bishop. He is an actor or was an actor and he played the main role in UFO in the late 60s 70s. I recall listening to this on cassette tape from Babington library in the Wirral Liverpool in the 1980s. That’s how long this has been out. Alas it’s not on audible so it’s just hoping and praying that it gets uploaded onto KZbin which it has been. That used to be a full version of this on KZbin but it got taken down. you know the old crap copyright. Jerusalem’s lot Read by Colin, Fox also got taken down but we uploaded. So glad people are not taking this copyright crap every uploading these classics for us all to enjoy. Much appreciated.

This is the quintessential vampire story!! Personally, I think it is far superior to the novel "Salem's Lot". You do not have to know anything about the novel to enjoy this story. In just the short length of this story Stephen King created a masterpiece of a tale, with strong characters, a good plot and one of the most chilling tales I have ever read. Perfect for the Halloween season! The plot is an intriguing one: what would the residents of a small town near Salem's Lot do when they knew---but never talked---about the vampire plague in the burned out town? I found this idea a realistic one. There isn't any superhero in the town willing to go fight the vampires---which is a lot more realistic when you think about it-----so the people protect themselves, and ignore it. But sometimes strangers to the area stumble into trouble. And two brave old men do their best to try to rescue them. When you think about it, what would you do? What could the town do? call for help? from who? Who would believe them? Band together and attack Salem's Lot? Not that many people who are that courageous. In the end, they do the only thing they can. This story is a masterpiece, one of the best I have ever heard. This audio version is not the very best, but it is good. I highly recommend it.

Every single legend of the vampire is centralized mainly from the bar from DUSK 'TIL DAWN by Quinton Tarantino & friends. Strangers too. 👣

@@salemslotuk I figured since you really like Salem's Lot you should give it a shot because it has a character from Salem's Lot as one of the main characters for the last 3 books
