Good advice. But how do you find the right gun without first owning and operating several? My gun journey is similar to yours. First pistol was a 1911. The I figured a had to have a 9mm so I picked up a Beretta 92fs. Then I figured I needed a more compact gun for carry so I bought a Taurus TH9c. Then I needed a higher quality carry gun so along came a Sig p229 Legion. The I figured I needed a handgun for deer hunting so I got a Ruger Blackhawk 357. Then after seeing several police shootings with 9mm where suspects drove away/ran away unphased, I decided 9mm was an ineffective caliber so I picked up two more 45 caliber pistols, a S&W 4566 and a S&W 457. After all that my favorite gun is my single stack Smith 457. The rest of them stay in my safe. Will I sell any of them? He’ll no, I love them all like children. Thanks for the video.

I think you should have one or two platforms for your carry and home defense set ups. I’m super accurate with Glocks and beretta 92s, so I own multiples of both and shoot both pretty regularly. I have a beretta 92a1 with a surefire x300 I use for my bedside gun, and a regular beretta 92 I have as a back up in another spot in the house. I EDC a Glock 19 and also have a Glock 17 I use as a another backup in another spot in the house. I also have the triggers all set up the same way on both platforms to keep them as similar as I can. Then outside of those two platforms I have other guns to shoot for fun

Good video. Sounds like you need to decide if you are a collector or a shooter. I guess I fall into the shooter category. I run and train with only one platform and one caliber for me that is the SIG platform. I have two German made P226s that I train with and a P239 that I carry. Very, very similar to the P226s same sights, same control surfaces and same caliber and same trigger and it is easily replaced if I were to lose it in a court case.

Well of course there are no wrong answers here . BUT , I come at it with a slightly different perspective.If you are a 1911 person you will understand this when I say I think I have more of those than I own good socks . If you are into that platform they just seem to find their way to you like magic . This satisfies my gun cravings , if I feel the jitters coming on I can always throw another 1911 at it and sooth the inner crack head. But as far as getting down to business is concerned.... You hit on something when you mention finding the platform that you shoot the best . Thats a complex statement hidden behind easy words... Most people find the platform they think they should have and then try to shoot it well . That works ok but until you venture out and try others you wont know that there may just be a model that clicks with you and makes you throw rocks at that one youve been struggling with. Ive had 1911s my entire life , some very upscale brands as well and I love them . My EDC is either a SIG P220 elite carry SAO or the HK 45CT...... Why ? Because I shoot them better and thats just a fact....Not just a little better but a ton better.... I find that both of these pistols is better at follow ups and multiples....Now you 1911 guys out there dont get all twisted.... Im with you all the way and dont dog my 1911s , I shoot them well , probably well enough . But you simply cannot ignore taking a gun out of a box brand new and shooting the first mag better than youve shot your 100th mag in the other platform..... I choose two differing platforms for my EDC simply for effectiveness . I may learn one day that one of these sucks..... I doubt it but its possible. The odds of them both sucking is slim to none....

I'm still fighting this very battle every day. For 9mm, my P226 LEGION is dunking on everything for whatever situation I put it in. The P30L and VP9 are fighting for 2nd place, while the Gen 5 17 is right behind that. But the P226 is king of my 9mms right now. IT's hard because lots of people make great 9mms, we're not talking good, GREAT! 9mms. So it's hard to narrow it down and commit when there's so many out there that give you that same feeling. 45's are much easier for me to narrow down, but I also have a bunch of those so.....

Started with a Ruger P89 then rolled into higher end 1911s. Bought my first Glock 19 and sold all but two of my 1911s which I gave to my step dad. Bought a bunch of G19s, G23's G21 G41, SW629, a bunch of CZ's, Sig 320's, 3 different variations of Beretta 92's. I was out shooting and looked at the pile of various calibers of ammo and handguns and realized how stupid it was. I sold off everything but my G19s and G23's. I bought a Gen5.5 G17 which I absolutely can shoot clover leafs with. I shoot the G17 better than any other gun. I'd sold a CZP10C but had enjoyed shooting a friend's P10F, so I bought one a couple weeks ago and have had it out several times and think I may keep it. The only handgun I want now is a full build LTT 92 Elite.

In fact, every HK I own is light LEM with short reset, except the usp tactical which is V1. I hear there might be a “LEM hybrid” which is LEM but retains some match kit parts. Great video man! I own a FNX .45 and was looking for a nice conceal carry weapon. Instead of getting a 9mm, I thought about staying in the .45 cal platform by getting a .45 c. I'd save big time by buying one type of cartridge instead of bouncing back and forth. So, I'm looking into getting BOTH the M&P 45 and the M&P .45 compact for my conceal and carry. I may even look into these H&K's cause they look like they are left hand friendly. Are they?

I mess with a few different platforms, and calibers. A few I could have passed on, but some for a purpose. My sig p365 SAS is my edc in the summer. It's a great pocket carry. My M&P 40c with a 3.6 barrel is my edc for winter. My H&K P30L is my bedside, and my Sig P220 legion is my weird flex at the range. I've given them roles in order to justify the amount of money I've spent lol. I totally agree with you, and had I known what I do now, I'd have a few more mags and ammo for the ones I run. Ya live and learn.

Excellent video and my journey has been long and expensive as well. I am currently working on condensing down to 1 platform. As of right now I have Sig (DA/SA & striker), FN (DA/SA & Striker), M&P, Walther (PPQ) and CZ (DA/SA) that all are intended for use, not collecting. This is freaking stupid. So, first thing I am trying to decide is if I want to go DA/SA or striker. From there I have narrowed it down to 3 options. DA/SA - CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical for HD and carry a CZ RAMI BD 9mm. For striker I am looking at either Sig (P320c 9mm & Subcompact x-change kit for all uses) or M&P (M2.0 5 inch 40S&W for HD & Shield9 & 45 for carry). My problem is I am like you and love guns. However, I MUST make this consolidation so I can focus my time and money on one system. I have even thought about just keeping it more simple and going either striker or DA/SA, but that still has a mix of trigger types and different over all feel between guns. The only one I can see right now is out is the PPQ M1, since I have no other handguns with paddle mag release….even though I love that gun. It is a sickness!!!
@Itsallnyermind411 жыл бұрын
Good vid. I agree, it's a hard trap to avoid. I decided on the 9mm because am a new shooter and I would like to get proficient with the 9mm before getting into .45's. as much as I love that H&K .45 CT. Right now it's not practical. Sigs I really like, the looks, the feel, the proven track record, they do it for me. So I got the m11-a1 in compact and soon will add the mk25 full size, both Guns share the same mags. 1 for carry & 1 for the bedside with a light on it. But wait...the HK p 30.

Funny thing is shooting different guns makes you a better shooter, when you find that one gun all the practise from the other guns transfers over, its like that with guitars too, I played Gibsons for years and one day started playing a Fender Strat and switched over and the Strat was so much easier to play and felt amazing, Took me 15 years of shooting to get to double to single action semi auto being the best set up but for a few years i shot nothing but revolvers and surprise, that double action shot doesnt bother me at all and i prefer it, the transition to single action seems so efortless after the first shot it feels like so easy and you just cant mis. HK USP 40 and Sig P 220 is what i'm shooting now and i never would of thought that 10 years ago. I kinda want a USP 45 but i feel the 40 helps my shooting for the same reason as playing the Gibsons, its just harder to shoot but i can still shoot it great though. The P220 is almost like cheating 😎

I will argue with you all day that you don't need the rest when you only have two hands to shoot with. Separate your wants from your needs. Buy Ammo instead or spend your money on training and training accessories. Master those two guns and you'll be covered.
