I was lucky enough to bump into Paul Reynolds in a bar in the UK about ten years ago. I asked him about him leaving the band and he told me he suffered from anxiety and depression, he was only 19-20 at the time. He seemed a lovely man and he is a great guitarist.

I saw Paul Reynolds at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Kimi FW Actually, CN pulled the plug on it because they couldn't sell Generator Rex toys. The current president of the company only wanted to keep shows around that could sell toys (He was also the "genius" behind the CN Real block if programming). So, they did what they did with quite a few shows of that time, and they wrote it off on their taxes as failures. Luckily, Turner Broadcasting shipped off the old President, and Cartoon Network was reborn with shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show. Unfortunately, they were unable to get Titan back. Maybe Gennedy tried to convince them while he was over there working on the new Samurai Jack stuff, but we haven't heard anything yet. (Sorry for the long response, just knew some stuff and wanted to shed some light.)

Here's a fun fact about music videos: the medium was pretty much pioneered by the band ABBA. Agnetha Faltskog was not a fan of flying in an airplane (or touring, for that matter for various reasons) so the band produced videos of themselves instead. Many of their videos were directed by Swedish director Lasse Hallstrom (What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Cider House Rules). How's that for funny? An Academy Award nominated director was a music video pioneer.

Ah, no. You can trace videos back way farther than that. The Beatles started doing them more when they stopped touring and they released a version of "1" which has a video for every song. The Monkees of course was a TV show where every song had a music video. Then there were Scopitones (music videos for a film based jukebox, done by a wide variety of artists) and even earlier than that (1940s!) the Soundies series which were shown in movie theaters and largely featured African-American artists.

Their Trinity of hits-I Ran, Space Age Love Song, and Wishing (I had a photograph of You) are among my favorite songs of all time, not just the 80's. I have tried to comb through their back catalog hoping to find some overlooked gem, but it's just not there. I have seen Mike Score in concert and when it comes time to play these hits, you could just feel the bitterness and resent just flowing from the stage. I get it, you want people to pay attention to the new stuff, but most musicians never get the kind of success he had. Apparently he went back to hair dressing as his day job. I want to root for him, but his resentment is just so palatable. I wonder what great clips he works at? I'd tip him extra.

Yes, Space Age Love Song is a great song! The whole first album is also good, especially Man Made. My theory is that their sound was based on a certain feeling of alienation, and as they came out with more music, they became more sentimental and less alienated, and this is what led to their downfall. And actually, I liked the 1995 album, The Light at the End of the World--it actually has some decent songs on it--but it is a bit different from their earlier stuff.

Huge flock of Seagulls fan here! They are great, and their first 3 albums are still great listens. I’m personally a huge fan of The Story of the Young Heart, both the album and song. Sad their legacy is only I Ran. I saw them at a fair a few years back and I admit I teared up when they played Space Age Love Song

Space Age Love song could be an Angels And Airwaves track. Maybe Tom Delonge was inspired by A Flock Of Seagulls

I am doing so to interview them post some time after their day in the spot light to see how it has effected them personally in their lives. Get back to me at you leasure, have a good day sir.

I never heard space age love song till this video. It's now one of my favorite songs from the early 80s.

It is surprisingly good to clean sinks to, it just makes removing crud from the garbage disposal so magical. But for real this is a fantastic song, it feels like I'm floating on air.

I loved, and still love, I Ran. The song was/is so catchy, and yes, even though it is about 'trying to get away', it is still infectious. In the realm of One Hit Wonders (Sugar Sugar, Rock Me Gently, and even The Lion Sleeps Tonight) it fits in well.

as soon as I saw that hair, I paused the video and laughed my ass off for five straight minutes seriously, wtf is that hair? it looks like a mix of wolverine's hair and peter parker's emo hair from spider man 3

Flock of Seagulls are anything but one hit wonders! Space Age Love Song and Wishing (If I had a Photograph of You) are 80s new wave classics!

I actually thought Story Of A Young Heart (1984) was a good album; my favorite tunes on it was "Remember David" "The More You Live, the More You Love" "Heart of Steel" and "Suicide Day". But the best FoS song for me was actually "Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You)" (LCD Remix) off of Greatest Hits remixed.

Space Age Love Song was in Spiderman: Homecoming and I was really glad to see this song come back in a big movie, hopefully more people will buy it.

Fitting, as it is basically a John Hughes movie set in the modern day with Spider-Man.

It also appeared recently in “What If..?”. I think someone at Marvel just REALLY likes A Flock of Seagulls.

Didn’t also appear in at least one of the trailers for the Neil Gaiman short story adaptation “How to Talk to Girls at Parties”? (Haven’t seen it yet, seems to be a gender-flipped version of “Earth Girls Are Easy” with less fur, less seemingly racist post-coitus nightmare sequences that were inserted after test screenings (where you just replace the words “Mexican immigrants” with “Space Aliens”, and suddenly her anxiety dream about space aliens moving to her majority white California suburb seems less cute and wacky, and more of an accidental testament of how racist and out of touch late 80’s film executives were), and less bad blonde jokes set to song.)

Space Age Love Song should be the next Running Up That Hill. A somewhat overlooked 80s classic that finds second life through some sort of involvement with popular media. It deserves it.

Wasn't the bowling for soup's cover of this song used as the opening theme song for the shitty english dub of saint seiya/ knight of the Zodiac that was on cartoon network during the late 90's early 2000's, someone correct me if I'm wrong but i think it might have been
