No, rico also means delicious, yummy. It literally means "rich", but in Spanish it's also used to describe food, as in "¡Que rico!" In the song it's supposed to mean both, that he's rich and yummy. Suave literally means soft, but can also mean smooth depending on the context. In this case, of course, it means smooth.

Gangsta rap was already around. Straight Outta Compton came out in '88. Ice T's first album came out in '86. Cypress Hill also came out at the same time as Gerardo and their debut album sold 2 million copies, so he didn't really blaze any trails in terms of Latino rap either.

@@chdreturns Raw Like Sushi is probably one of the greatest debut albums in modern R&B. She had another hit (if you're thinking of "Buffalo Stance"). What was that one? Oh yeah, "Manchild", but I think it was even bigger in the UK. Her stepbrother is in fact, Eagle Eye Cherry, who was definitely a one-hit wonder, if you're discounting the Santana duet, in which I am. She's put out consistently good albums as well as lead-off singles to the present day. Raw Like Sushi was a mark of what was to come with Angie Stone, Macy Gray, Erykah Badu, (to an extent) Lauryn Hill and Martina Topley-Bird ushering in the more prominent and acclaimed alternative R&B and avant-pop of the mid-90's to early '00's.

it all depends. there are different forms or slangs and accents of Spanish especially if your parents or guardians that raised you are from different regions then your Spanish may sound a bit different. I only speak a little but I've heard different types. some speak really fast, some kind of mumbled, some clearly, some you can tell learned in school, it just all depends

+Ashley Lopez ...Right, I think because English isn't my first language I've explained myself badly: I'm from Latin America (from Argentina, actually). I've spoken with people from different Spanish-speaking countries, and yes it is true that there are TONS of different accents. In fact, in Argentina we have a very particular way of speaking because we don't use "tú" but "vos" instead and we change aaall the verbs accordingly. I'm used to hearing different accents or ways of speaking Spanish, and usually the Spanish shown in american mass media sounds clearly off (and I'm sure you could say the same about English portrayed in other countries). This isn't the case, but it does sound a bit off? It's not entirely wrong, it just sounds unnatural to me.
