In reference to the young Pharaoh getting married, when you may only live to 30 you are not waiting til your 25 years of age to get married and start a family. Even up until the 1800s people generally only lived to be 30-40yrs old so in perspective a teenager would have lived almost half a lifetime by 15yrs. They in fact would probably be amazed at how old we live in contrast. Thank Modern Medicine and Post Industrialization.

Thankyou for fixing the "Hittite" pronounciation thing at the end. It really bugged me early on. Also, Population Y ... very interesting. I'd heard very little of this before. One question though: if Beringia was a land mass revealed by lower sea levels, what else in the Mid-Southern Pacific could have been available to paleo-peoples at the same time. I know there's nothing to the scale of Beringia, but clearly other currently-submerged lands would have been extant, simplifying the case for a trans-Pacific route.

@@EpicNate The theory that a large chunk of the south Pacific would have formed a livable continent seems less theory and more reality. Notably this is the same area that today has a major population of inhabited islands and we've found ruins that show people used to build sea ports... at a level far below what is now the surface. But how many people would have been displaced if this was a fully inhabited land mass? Millions? Where did they go? But here's another thing... the Incan legends about certain ancient sites.... claim the sites where ruined cities... BEFORE the Incans got there. How many thousand years ago was this? It's very true we know that the Americas had a history of... invaders wiping out the locals. Check out the theories about why the SE swampland areas in the US SW had FOUR language isolates. Leading theory is that they're relic populations of what used to be more wide spread languages... who got wiped out. One of them whose name escapes me right now... has as their most well known mythical account... that they were chased from their ancestral homeland which was much nicer and forced to live in the swamp by..... well, we have no idea who. And another thing! :D The "Cliff Dwellers" were not a single culture, or even a single GROUP of cultures. They apparently used to be highly hostile warring factions who fought over territory vs each other regularly.... like feudal dynasties.... then the US SW was plunged into a drought it STILL hasn't recovered from. this left them a pale shadow of the civilizations they used to be... and then the Navaho showed up to make their lives worse. Anasazi... that's just what the Navaho called them. Speaking of the Navaho... there's serious speculation they used to be a "First Nation" in Canada called the Naha, who fought wars regularly with their neighbors... then one day just... vanished. Yeah, if they migrated south that would fit with how the Navaho just.. popped up one day. And of course there's the possibility that what is in the 1800s genetic markers linked to SEAsia... may NOT have been linked to SEAsia over 9000 years ago.

First off, Nate if you're reading this, awesome video! I did not expect historical content from this channel but I'm loving it, keep indulging your interests! Seconedly, regarding the Red Sirius mystery, there's something I haven't seen brought up that I'd like to add to the conversation. That being, it is actually a known phenomenon that certain ancient cultures refer to what we would consider blue as red instead. The most notable example of this is when Homer describes the ocean as "wine-dark." It's thought that they essentially saw blue as just another shade of red, (or at least referred to it that way), and people only started thinking of it as a distinct color when blue dye became cheaper and more popular, kind of like how we use the word "pink" now to refer to a lighter shade of red. Now I'm no expert and this is all coming from off the dome, so I can't be sure how plausible this explanation is for every account, but I thought it woulf be a fun tidbit for anyone interested in this kind of stuff; this conundrum could all be the result of nuance being lost in translation, thanks to the way that technology and culture change over time.
