There's the story involving the British actor Sir Anthony Hopkins. In 1971, he signed a contract for a lead role in the movie "The Girl From Petrovka", based on the book of the same name by George Feifer. After signing the contract, he went searching London's bookshops for a copy of the book, without success. Despondent, he returned home via Leicester Square Tube Station. Whilst waiting for a Tube train, he spotted an apparently-discared book on a bench. Remarkably, the book turned out to be a heavily-annotated copy of "The Girl From Petrovka". As if that wasn't enough, whilst filming the movie in Vienna two years later, Hopkins was visited by the author of the original book, George Feifer. During their conversation, Feifer stated that he didn't have a copy of his own work - he'd lent his last copy, with havy annotations, to a friend who'd subsequently lost it somewhere in London! With mounting astonishment, Hopkins showed him the book that he'd found at Leicester Square Tube Station, and asked: "Is this the one - with the notes scribbled in the margins?". It was the same book.

How's this for coincidence? My in laws, residing in Scottsdale AZ took a Mediterranean cruise, stopped at a Greek island and took a guided tour to an ancient Church. While cueing outside they spotted that in the departing tour ahead of them was my mother in laws brother who lived in Sydney Australia that she hadn't seen for 20+ years! Siblings living on opposite sides of the earth, just happened to visit the same Greek church on the same day at the same time!

In 2004, I worked in Taipei City, Taiwan for eight months. Basically the only people I knew in the whole city were my coworkers (I'm from Tainan). My Taiwanese friend (and neighbor) from many years ago who studied in Columbus at Ohio State suddenly asked me to perform her wedding ceremony when their pastor bailed at the last minute. I'm not actually a pastor of any kind, but I performed the ceremony. I was chowing down at the reception and knew that I knew a guy who was there. I expected he was from Tainan because he's not a coworker and I couldn't possibly know anybody else in Taipei. I approached him and found out that he was the Canadian neighbor of my boss from upstairs when I visited her apartment once. Turns out he's the girlfriend of my Taiwanese friend's first roommate after she graduated and returned to Taiwan. That completed a circle of 5 people: Me, my boss, the guy from upstairs, his girlfriend, my friend who was the roommate and then my friend, myself and then back to my boss. It was so uncanny. A city of 3 to 4 million people and this circle connection became complete. AMAZING!!!!

Bernard Levin had a good line of argument about coincidences which involve a member of the human race being accidentally involved in something that seemed very unlikely for any human being to be involved in. His line was that given there are about 8 billion people, and lots of opportunities for such involvements to occur, it wasn't a surprise that they did. Rather it was almost inevitable that they should

Yeah I didn't "get" that movie. I was wondering where Gnasher was, why Dennis was blond and why it was all very dumbed-down American. Of course, I then find out it wasn't, actually, adapting the UK Dennis at all. Which explained so much. RIP Walter Matthau though for sure, champion

I've got a story that mirrors the Anne Parish story. We were on holiday in Alnwick, Northumberland, UK. Just outside the town, in what used to be the town's railway station, there was a second hand book store. Dad was looking around the shelves and found a Wisden, which is the premier almanac for Cricket in the UK. He flicked through it, when he found his uncles handwriting on the frontispiece - it had been his uncles Wisden. His uncle died in 1977. It turned up again in 2001.

We were out with our dog and bumped into a couple who had a dog who looked *exactly* like him. We got talking, and not only did it turn out both dogs had the same name (Oscar), but they came from the same breeder and had the same parents. And we lived nowhere near each other. That one was pretty unlikely.

I'm one of 3 rural mail Carriers in a small town. A few weeks ago I got a monthly periodical and stuck to the bottom of it was the same periodical for one of the other rural Carriers. This has happened to all carriers it happens during the sorting process most times its 2 peices for different individuals in different routes or even different citys and even states. It is what it is we are all aware of it and try our best to watch out for them but hey we ain't perfect and some slip through from time to time. Anyways I called him up we both had a good laugh over it and neither one of us not willing to let a Golden opportunity such as this literally laid in our hands go amiss. We naturally gave the Carrier that delivered them a hard time about it the next day lol.

I have a good one. I work for a call center. I handled a call for a client, and we started a friendship. Come to find out a few months later that we share the same date of birth, not the same year though. Also, her daughter has the same date of birth as my youngest son. That's not what is remarkable, but my oldest son suffered from a brain tumor, and due to our close friendship she was my support, even though we are over a thousand miles away, and have never met, she was my rock. To the year that my son had surgery and was treated for his brain tumor, she was diagnosed with the exact same type of brain tumor. I was there for her through the distance, hopefully one day we will get to meet.

While working at a hospital right out of high school I was helping a RN take a small girl back to her room after surgery. In the elevator was also her mother and a student nurse. The elevator kept us inside for about 20 minutes riding up and down...the doors wouldn't open. Eventually the engineers got us out. Flash forward 11 years..had a pregnant pt. In a wheelchair taking her for an ultrasound..she was ready to pop. Her friend with her said "I hope we dont get stuck in the elevator with you so far along. I told them the story of years ago. The girl in the wheelchair looked at me and said "Oh my god! I'm that little girl!" Freaked me out..

1:07 So are you telling me that Halley's comet passed the earth at 4/20 because Mark twain died a day after and that was 4/21
@weescotspaul
@weescotspaul 4 жыл бұрын
Not quite. Halley's comet doesn't just come and go in one day, it takes a good while for it to stop being visible in the sky. The comet actually became visible to the naked eye on April 10th and reached it's perihelion (it's closest approach to the sun) on April 20th. Twain died the day after perihelion. It was still visible in the sky for a good month afterward, reaching it's brightest point towards the middle of May. Twain was absolutely right, he'd been born two weeks after the previous Halley's perihelion in 1835 while it would still be seen in the sky and he died the very next time it was here. Your comment that the comet arrived _because_ Mark Twain died is just moronic, have a word with yourself. The video in no way says that. Twain _himself_ simply said that he came in with the comet so he would leave with it: That's all that's reported here and it's absolutely correct.

None, they don't give any chickens steroids. Well not in the US anyway, it is a violation of federal law, and chickens have been breed to not need steroids. So to use them to grow chickens freakishly fast and large is kind of moot. That said, I have never cracked 2 double yolks in a row but I have found 2 in the same carton.

Edmond Halley (8/11/1656 - 14/1/1742) was an English astronomer who used the laws of motion to predict the return of the comet in 1758, he didn't live to see it but in honour of the man it was named after him. William John Clifton (Bill) Haley was a pioneering American rock and roll musician, he formed a group in the early 1950's named His Comets. This "Urban Connection Similarity" has given rise to the common mispronouncing of Halley; it should rhyme with "Salley" not "daily".

Here's one for you. I am from a small city called Waukesha Wisconsin. My grandfather lived and died and was buried there. A famous figure was also buried there within about 10 to 15 feet of my grandfather. That person is Les Paul!. Here's the coincidence. My grandfather used to play cards with Les's father, at the dealership that Les's father owned. It was common to see Les sweeping and cleaning up at the dealership while they played. In fact his father used to tell Les, "You will never amount to anything" but as we all know Les was the inventor of the solid body electric guitar, as well as many other electrical devices commonly used with the electric guitar today! Unless you are a BOOMER you may NOT know that Les, alone and also with his wife Mary Ford, was also an EXTREMELY GIFTED MUSICIAN! What are the odds that these two men would be buried so close to each other? Add in the fact that Les HATED Waukesha and lived his entire adult life exclusively in New York. The only reason Les is buried there is because he wanted to be buried next to his beloved mother!

I live in Africa and chickens are everywhere, its not rare for us to see 5 chickens cross the road while a truck is stressfully trying to stop and not hurt them. Its a really funny sight i see everyday i go home after school

My wife when she lived in Nottingham bought a set of 4 children's encyclopedias later they were given away. She moved a few hundred miles to the North East of England to marry me. We went a a local antique shop and she saw the 4 book childrens books there and bought them. When we got home she found all her writing in the book that she made when younger. It was the same 4 books she had given away all those years ago.
