Hello! In my last video, I mentioned there would be a part 2. I will make that live in a few days - I ended up doing a bunch of extra cards for it. Thanks!

I personally like to keep stencils together whenever possible because there are fewer small pieces to misplace but I get cutting them apart too. I’m also watching this 1 year out and know that companies have really stepped up their game so they are even easier to layer. Love to hear your thought processes

Unrelated comment: That intro. Never apologize for needing a break. Everyone needs to take time for themselves or general breaks. I’m sure I’m not that only one who thinks this either. Take as much time as you need and we will be so happy when you do come back. Take good care of yourself. Much love!

You're so prompt in the production of your work...no need to apologize for needing time off to rest. I hope you DO take time for YOU. This is such a hard time for parents with children at home studying. I LOVE the use of the stencils & YES! You taught me it is ok to do a little stamp & stencil surgery...and I cut as I need to. TFS

Jennifer, you are not alone in hitting a wall, it happens to me every time I sit down to craft. I'm not the most creative stamper and struggle more than a little, so every video you do helps me try and do better. I've taken Copic classes and felt I was a failure in that class. I've down water color classes and for certain that is not something I can do without making a muddy mess. But every time I sit down to work I try again and again and sometimes I create something beautiful and possibly sell worthy! LOL! As for cutting apart the stencils, it seems very sensible to do that, instead of having to move the entire stencil each time you want a different layer. Easy to do, just cut straight....another fault I have, can't cut straight! LOL! You, make everything you put in your videos look so easy for us to do. I loved each and every card and want to thank you for all you do for our community! God Bless you and your family!

I love Altenew layers stamps and have several, along with inks. I will have to get some of the layering stencils now. Since I don't have stencils I can't say one way or the other that I would cut them, but it does seem logical. Cutting my stamps is another thing, haven't had the guts to do that. I love these cards. Your videos are always so educational to watch. Thank you for sharing all your ideas.

Great video Jennifer, and lovely so see you back..family and 'you time' should always come first. You mentioned previous comments on cutting up stencils, and wondered what others thought. I agree totally that cutting it up makes it easier to use, however, for very intricate stencils like these, there is a tendency for them to get tangle and bent when storing them away ..those delicate edges in close proximity sometimes causes damage later on after removing from storage. The other reason I probably wouldn't is that cutting them up and storing makes them more bulky and my craft space is so limited. Love these 1 layer cards though. Simple and beautiful.😀

THANK YOU for sharing this. The sentiment on the card in the first few seconds of video really caught my eye -- ("we rise") -- what a great new combo of ink colors (Martian Terrain looks like a versatile set) for these one-layer projects. What a great "keep-it-clean" tip [that's going to help me a lot]. Maneuvering around a smaller size stencil seems like it would be easier to use.

@angelhelp4 жыл бұрын
I am squarely on the side of cutting stamps, stencils, whatever... I’ve been thinking about doing the same thing for those stamp sets that have various sentiments so I can file similar sentiments together, e.g. “Praying for you” with “Prayers”. It’s been making me crazy that some stamp sets have a fairly wide assortment of sentiments because my drawer of “assorted” sentiments is chock full. What I don’t do is worry about the manufacturer as the content is far more important (to me) than who made it. Stencils plus stamps plus matching dies all in sets together may soon force me to merge everything by category, e.g. “Christmas, sacred” or “Floral” or “Avian” rather than my current method of stamps separate from dies separate from stencils; it’s taking too long to locate all the parts of a particular set. Cutting the stencils as you did here is one thing, but I’d probably take it one additional step and tape all the layers of one edge in addition to marking that one edge. Taped together, they’re already aligned, so it’s like turning a page to add the next stencil layer.
