I know it's been a while since you did this repair. Do you warrantee the pond dams ore is it a brake light period? It'd seem pretty expensive to have to eat the redo...

The section of property just west of me has three dry ponds on it... all dug by the same outfit. My neighbor was looking at having his little pond enlarged. .. from a 1/4 acre to almost 1. A guy showed up to bid the job... When he used the other three as a reference, my neighbor said he was really looking for someone who knew how to build a wet one! Needless to say, he had someone with a little better reference do the work. Keep diggin... I’ll keep watchin!

Yes I can sure understand that finding something to at least give you an idea of how the water is migrating away from the pond would at least give you the piece of mind that the problem was found at last. Problems happen and we all want a fix that lasts. 👍. Great content as always.

A rock path would explain why the backside stays wet and hasn't eroded away into a catastrophic blow out from water running under the dam and eroding soil .

Remember the pond. Thinking it was the experiment with forks and the bags of bentonite. Funny how grass on a property totally changes the overall look of things. Anxious to see what the wet spot u found leads to. Gotta b that ledge u got into when digging the core. That is my vote.

Sounds like the pond is sitting on an aquifer or old mine shaft. We lost a pond to an old mine. We filled the hole with lots and lots of concrete.

About using hogs to seal the pond... first, you have to have them inside the pond with no water down to the level where the water exfiltrates. In this case it’s apparently at or near the bottom. And it will take several weeks to compact enough for a seal. Tough to do without diverting rain water. If it is a stone seam, hogs aren’t likely to work. (Chris said it was a major leak.) However, hogs are a possible fix for minor leaks.

The property of swelling also makes sodium bentonite useful as a sealant, since it provides a self-sealing, low permeability barrier. It is used to line the base of landfills, for example.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bentonite

I hope y'all ain't eating the cost on this. It's not your fault the land is Rocky and the owner wants it to be x number of feet deep this striking rock that inturn causes the leaks through the rock. I suppose core samples would pay of from time to time if there's shallow rock like that around.

Hey did yall ever think that the reason the pond ain't holding water might be because its sitting on top of a giant sinkhole? It wont matter what kind of rock or soul or really anything you put in the bottom of the pond it's still gonna leak out the weight of the water will just keep pushing anything you put at the bottom of the pond down into the sinkhole as well as the water itself and it wont stop till you hit bottom of the sinkhole and the space is completely full.

Sand vein. Always exist where rocks are at. We deal with them all the time here in illinois. Sometimes they run for miles before they surface. Had one core trench we had to dig 12ft deep to get through the gravel to good clay.

Good work Chris! thanks for showing how to unberry a berry pipe👍with out hand shoveling it...lol but if you don't know? At 20:01 20:24 no sound form your device, but good work but yeah that was my guess it's probably leaking form the rocks which depends on how many, cuz they do make more weaknesses if it's like pit run or even road gravel something that has a lot of rocks, then what like you say then what clay is. So inerways again good work a's always Mr Chris..

You say how nice the clay is, but it looks very loose when you dig it out. With the negative comments some people make about compacting the dam dirt, I'd have expected it to have put a bit of a fight with the excavator.

Question : Was this some sort of guaranteed job/work and if yes, did you have to do the work for free. I am asking because it is obvious that three times of repairing the same frustrating problem could get quite aggravating and expensive.

Did you use powder or pellets? Think pellets are better you can fill a quart jar a inch and put the same amount of water and it will fill the jar. Just wondering if you put that on the rocks and if it would stop it? Used to use all three types of beniote when I was drilling environmental Wells . Some wicked shit I'll tell u

< assuming it is a warranty fix > keeping costs to a min, and providing a lasting fix is the best option. but I like the way you think, when in doubt blast it out, but being a videoed process he could not do it " off the books " when it comes to blasting. - side note. if it was the only way to fix it, then yes it would be effective.

This comment may not apply to this video. However, I will leave it here. Do you use special heat-resistant hydraulic lines and cylinders when burning wood and brush? Also, do you find you have to lubricate your stick cylinder more often due to the heat? It must cause some damage to your bucket, as well. I'm going to repeat my comment on your latest video.
@ccraig4247
@ccraig4247 5 жыл бұрын
Jeff Kelley The fire isn’t hot enough to hurt the bucket at that distance, but I have seen an excavator burn to the ground on a job site from burning brush. The hydraulic lines caught fire and the fire spread over the whole machine within a couple minutes.
