Wow... sexual assault, loss of a loved one, suicide.... this girl has been through a lot and somehow has developed such emotional maturity and strength. Loved this episode. Love her. She's gonna make a difference in the world. So impressed🙌

I too, survived suicide. Heart stopped for 8 mins. I don’t know if anyone could have stopped me, I felt like I had nothing and could do nothing right. Then felt like i couldn’t even be successful in killing myself. Was still wishing I was dead for a long time, but did feel bad for some of the people who cared about me and what they went through. She is absolutely right in what she says about ultimately it was his decision and not her responsibility. No one can fix someone else’s depression or lack of desire to live.

As a mental health professional, the thing one can do is get the person to a safe place, be it a hospital or under 24 hr supervision, because once the feelings pass one can make a plan to move forward.

What’s with the negative comments? Just because her understanding of survival is different than yours doesn’t make her story invalid, her survival less worth hearing about, and mostly why are you bullying someone who just opened up about suicide? Tf is wrong with you people

When in need, or dealing with trauma, it is not uncommon to want to talk about it with those you are closest to. Sometimes, however, the person chosen is unable or unwilling - for whatever reason - to engage in those discussions. This can result in hurt feelings, feeling rejected, and more. However, what I have learned, is that metaphorically, if I need some milk, and I go to the hardware store, guess what? They don't have milk there. What I need is not available there. If someone cannot give you what you need, find someone else who IS able to meet your needs If I need milk, then I need to find a milk store! Should I be mad and hurt at the hardware store for not having milk for me? It sounds silly, but reframing the situation has helped me understand and not take it personally. If I continually go to the paint store over and over, expecting to get milk, who is the one who is the problem? Uh, ME! Most of us have heard the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. So, give the hardware store a pass, the grace of forgiveness for not being capable of providing you with the milk you need, and go elsewhere to get your needs met. When you need PAINT, go with a glad heart to the hardware store, and be grateful there are multiple places to go!

One point to add, there is no one who "should" be the one to meet my needs. It is easy to get caught up in "shoulding" all over others. Stop it! That's not fair to them, or to yourself.
