2:25 great catch seeing second generation SD40-2 locomotives out on the mainline can be rare but seeing a single unit running long hood forward is so cool

I couldn’t help but notice there were farm more examples of long nose forward. Is that a safety think for crash protection? Can’t be good for visability.

There might not be a wye or ballon track to turn the locomotive. You are right it's bad for visability.
