What kind of mom would, in the midst of her unimaginable grief, think to mail her now dead daughter's letter to Santa Claus? "Well shit, might as well see if I can cash in on that Barbie Dream House and a Pony!"

Well, considering it’s the kids final wish that’s not an uncommon thing for grieving parents to do. Chalk that up as fun things I learned as a teacher.

This sounds sort of like the plot to "The Christmas Shoes," where God gives a woman terminal cancer so a random dude will see the woman's son buying some gaudy shoes for her for when she meets Jesus, thus filling the random dude with the Christmas spirit

i dimly remember this movie (I was a kindergarterner maybe younger when it was on tv so I have little to know actual memory of what it was about, but I remember Harry Dean Stanton's character.) I can't believe it was this batshit. It's like having a watching a movie as a kid about a guy and his wizard buddy and then finding out as an adult that your parents made you watch The Holy Mountain.
@RandomOldPerson20 күн бұрын

I have never heard of this movie. Making a Christmas movie must be like playing the lotto. 99% of the time it is Hallmark empty fluff that will be forgotten about immediately. Then there is .99% which is fine but nothing special, like this thing, doomed to just be overshadowed. And then there is the .01% that is "Home Alone", "Elf", or "A Christmas Story". The impossible megahit that remains a touchstone for generations.
