We just released our smaller cutting board here: www.grankvist-outdoors.com Thank you for watching the video. Me and my girlfriend make these cutting boards ourselves by hand, so if you want to support the channel we would be very happy if you could check out our website. We have a special limited Christmas sale over there which makes the perfect gift! We are so grateful for everyone who bought from our first batch of cutting boards, they sold out very fast. It means the world to me, that this is made possible. The blacksmith in the video is named Nils. He has his own KZbin channel: www.youtube.com/@nilsogren He is one of the few that makes his own axes by hand here in Sweden. So check out his channel!

Hello Erik. Your channel is great. I’ve been watching you from the beginning of your cabin build. It awesome to see someone build something correctly from the ground up. Today I looked into buying a couple of your medium size cutting boards, however, I found out that you don’t currently ship to the United States. Do I need to say that I am disappointed? Maybe one day……. -RR

Erik, you may find that you want to build a cricket (as we call them in the U.S.) above your fireplace on the roof so that water/snow sheds away from the fireplace on the uphill side of the roof. While you did all your flashings correctly, above the fireplace on the roof is now a big V shape that can hold water and may cause ice damming during the winter. A cricket, is a small roof, in this case shaped like a hip roof would work well, that will shed the water coming from uphill of the chimney to the sides of the chimney. I just had to spend the last week having people install this very thing for me on a house I am building. You have done a great job with building your cabin. Thank you for including us all as you go through this journey.

@TheKlokan44 Жыл бұрын
This is a good idea....even where we had limited snow during the winter, if we have several weeks of good snow, the snow builds up over the chimney and the slow melting causes leaks between the flashing and chimney

I really enjoy that you just show how things are done, properly, not reacting to people making things the wrong way. Not that I always totally agree with your methods. It reminds me of my father, when we were going to the store or something he would point to a construction site or something and say "they will have a problem with mold later". It confused me at the time that he didn't tell the builders, but now I know that it's impossible to teach people who don't understand. Leading by example is the best way!

I work construction and we do quite a bit of mud work inside concrete structures from time to time and on vertical surfaces it seems to help the mortar stick if you wet the surface a little bit before hand. Also keep your trowel wet keeps the mortar from sticking to your tool and can give you a really nice finish. You can also wet a horse hair brush and give it a nice finish. Looking good though keep it up man!
