Is Hearts new main stand not just a glass front, away from the old original stand ?
@frasergibson723 жыл бұрын
Ibrox particularly the main stand has to be his best bit of work (from a rangers fan admittedly)

The old trinity stand at Aston Villa was probably my favourite of his work.

Our Leitch stand at Plymouth still stands. The original steelwork has been used to support the new refurbishment and updated stand

Fratton Park is undergoing some renovations right now. Soon work will begin on our South stand which is a Leitch design. In the early 2000's a small extension was added in front of the famous Archibald latticework. This will be removed and a new lower section will be built making the stand into a single tier. The Latticework will reman visible though. Also the TV gantry is to be re made in the style of a gable with steelwork to match the old school style. Under the stand we still have the original cobble stones and ticket price boards. Its a nice touch that we are keeping this heritage and preserving it I think, hopefully you can pay us a visit some time. Here is a photo of how it will look: www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/siteassets/image/stockimages/fratton-park/northsouthdevelopment/southstand2.jpg/Large

Was Leitch did was incredible, and he should never be forgotten. I hope there's a statue of him somewhere 'cause he deserves one.

Selhurst Park was also a Leitch stadium. The main stand of 1924 is still very much in use. Well, for the time being st least.

Absolutely brilliant video. Very informative. I think football and its fans in the UK owe a debt off gratitude to Mr Leitch

I believe at Fratton Park,Portsmouth our existing Archibald Leitch stand is the South Stand. The ground is having a four year revamp but the owners have the club (who are Americans) have vowed to keep the original design as much as possible. No knocking it all down for a modern concrete bowl.

Old Trafford - original design was by Archibald Leitch for the stadium as it was in 1910 when United first moved in. I don’t think there’s any of his design left these days, though, as it’s been redeveloped so much over the years. A fair bit of it would have been destroyed when the stadium was bombed during WWII, and then after the rebuilding, there’s been plenty of redevelopment, particularly the move to all-seater stadia in the 90s.

Excellent video! Doesn't matter where you go for your first live game, the stadium walk into the stands is a significant and captivating moment. With the stadiums Leitch has worked on, he has managed to paint those moments intristically.

Thanks again Sam another brilliant video. As I was watching. I began to wonder ( particularly because I'm American) where did all the names for all these Stadiums came from? Is it street names? District names? I Know some are pretty straight forward but still I think it's an interesting topic. COYG!!?🔴⚪

Great work Sam:) It's important to remember about AL. It's pity that number of His constructions is decreasing. Hope Rangers main stand will not change. I thing that part of Craven Cottage is even registered monument, so hopefully will never become a wall of apartament estate, like Highbury.

Some good news.. the Archibald Leitch stand at Fratton Park, home of my team, Portsmouth, has just been renovated and re-vamped, and one of the features of that re-vamp was that the trademark ArchibaldLeitch "criss-cross" girder facade, which for many years had been covered up by hoardings and advertising, has now been brought back into view and refurbished, to again be a prominent feature of the stand........it looks tremendous and is a tribute to a visionary stadium designer.....
