About
This video is a demonstration CQB training tactics. Minimizing exposures to threat areas seems sensible. Especially when conducting CQB and you can't see where the threat may engage you from.
My mission here is to provide tactical training, and police education to police officers through what I believe is the best information possible to the best of my abilities.

I second this. A few weeks ago I went to a condo that was on the second floor. While walking up the stairs I told my partner that there was a big ass window with the blinds about 75% closed and the front door next to it. Really no where else for us to stand (not a priority call, we’re there to collect a firearm and ammunition that an elderly lady wanted to turn in for destruction). I see this figure approach through the window and of course I can’t see what is in her hands. Door opens, and this 91 year old lady is raising a 6” revolver towards my partner. My partner says “oh wow”, and lunged for her arm, pinning it to a table behind her. I remove the revolver as she’s saying “it’s not loaded”. I open the cylinder and it was sure as shit loaded. My partner and I went to the academy together and probably have a combined 30 days of patrol time as solo officers. Shit sandwich.

@crey5561
@crey5561 4 ай бұрын
@@genericscottishchannel1603she was “on” old age. I evidently did not paint a clear enough picture, my fault. An older lady (91) called in to say she found her ex husband’s firearm and ammunition and wanted us to collect said items. The firearm and ammunition would be later booked into Evidence for destruction. There is no bad guy, no stimulus, and to be honest, this type of call is fairly common. Normally, a citizen who drive to the PD if they wanted to turn in a firearm and an officer would go their vehicle and secure the firearm. Because of her old age, she could not drive and asked that an officer come to her residence and pick up the firearm. I work in very affluent city, and this location was an affluent condominium complex. There was no reason to kick the door, throw bangers, or even for us to have our weapons out. I made the comment about the window and door being a shitty and shittier place to stand should something go sideways. Again, we’re not serving a warrant or anything remotely close to that. I see a silhouetted figure approach through window. Door opens, she raising the firearm towards my partner (she later said she wanted to show us the firearm). My partner had stated that when she spoke to him on the phone prior to the in person contact, he instructed her to keep the firearm in the closet where she had found it, clearly she did not. All in all, no force was used on the old lady, she probably weighed 90 lbs so the optics on that would’ve been bad. We removed the firearm and she was happy about that. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth, if that wasn’t some geriatric lady and it was someone that wanted to lay down some hate, my partner and I would’ve been in a bad way. I asked some of our SWAT guys to go over stairs from a patrol level standpoint and we’ll be doing some training on that when they get back from DARC. I was/am proud of my partner, he took action right away. He’s very young and recently graduated college, he doesn’t have a whole lot of life experience to fall back on. I’m mid 30’s with 10 years of search and rescue, counter narcotic, migrant interdiction etc etc experience. No way I could’ve done this job at 22 years old, the young man did well. He also got his first powdered fentanyl exposure last week so he had to get narcan’d. My boy is growing up quick! 😅

I appreciate the way you teach concepts. You show what works and what doesn't work, and you explain how it's practical. This channel is one of a kind, I feel like most people here including myself, appreciate what you're putting out. Keep it up, brother. Stay safe out there.

Good shit. Being a lefty shooter helps me a lot with positive corner fed rooms etc. However I've REALLY had to implement and constantly work on going to my off side. I do everything else right handed though! When I enlisted in 2007 the Army was like wtf pvt you better learn and qualify with your right Ricky ticky!..They were messing at the time but being brand new I was like shit!!! 😂. Later on they said hey for real try to work that rifle on your right side a couple hours a day just on rucks so you will already have a feel by the time we start cqb training.

Excellent video. I don't understand why the PDs /Agencies don't take the time to encompass "off shoulder" rifle tactics when they train and qual officers. Perhaps some do. Our "patrol rifle school" is 6 days. Challenging for those of us who did not serve in the military but I've augmented my training at the SIG Academy with my own money to step it up. I truly appreciate these videos because it kicks me in the ass to do some dry rifle handing off duty. Stay safe everyone.

I gave a comment at a training regarding what we were doing. I pointed out while good to know how to pie a door you are aware handgun and rifle rounds will go through the wall right? This along with other comments got me plenty of laughs and some tension with the instructors. My point was all this is great until someone is actually not stupid and shooting at you.

@@Forward_Concepts I wasn’t nitpicking or anything it’s just something I notice when I’ve been to training. The seasoned actually been shot at guys have a whole other modus operandi. The arrogant cocky tactical instructors will stress something that doesn’t matter in a true life and death encounter. Great material. 👍🫡🇺🇸

"Sometimes you have to favor cover or concealment over your ability to apply marksmanship" This is a point that I think a lot of people miss. A lot of 2A/defense oriented individuals focus too much on shot times and placement on the flat range.

When cops get shot on permitters of houses…it’s because they are not utilizing cover, and often times standing where they are looking at the house ready to “address” something with their rifle…all while the guy on the inside is lining them up and all they see is windows and blinds.

Great Video! I discovered your channel recently and appreciate your diagnosis of diminishing returns in the "cqb" methodology. Although I'm a civilian, I will be sharing vids that I think share good considerations. While I like the Surviving the Street channel name, I'm assuming you switched it to Kinetic Concepts because STS is a mouthful? KC is a solid name change imo. I'm just very curious, how are your neighbors about you just demonstrating in the suburbs? Are they just really cool? Or are they just seeing the camera tripod and don't get agitated? Anyway, looking forward to more content! Thanks!

Kinetic Concepts was the original name. See @ handle. Kinetic Concepts LLC is the name of my training company. I am in the process of switching it back because it more closely aligns with the trajectory of things to come. While “STS” is obviously purposeful and implies cops. It doesn’t really align with people like your self.

This is not cqb this is a standoff. Teaching the whole switch shoulders “technique” is ridiculous, most people including law enforcement and local swat lack the skills and ability to shoot, move, communicate accurately and effortlessly using their dominant hand so why would you be telling someone to start switching hands in the middle of an intense situation. Nobody should be practicing “tactics” until their shooting while moving and accuracy are so well developed they run subconsciously. Once that happens you’d realize that the “tactics” being shown here are hot garbage. As for hiding behind walls and slowly pieing off doors? If I’m the bad guy right when I get the first sense of movement from sound or sight I’m just sending 10 shots through the walls and opening. Using the wall in this scenario only makes sense if you are in a commercial building with concrete and steel doors. The residential situation would just turn into both sides blindly trading rounds after the first shot gets fired.
