Having one of these tanks installed on my truck as we speak! Can't wait to pick it up in the morning, recalculate with forscan and enjoy the extended range. My last truck i installed a 68 gallon in bed push button transfer tank. It was nice holding the button for 2 minutes and my truck would go from E to full. Fillups once every 3-4 weeks. Had that luxury for 5 years. Now with this truck and the 34 gallon tank, it drives me nuts I have to stop once a week for a fillup, and when pulling the camper alot more frequent. Last year pulling out to Mass. we had a issue with lack of fuel range. We passed the last major pulloff fuel station without stopping, like an idiot. I had such a issue finding a gas station that i would be able to get myself into and out of. I was down to 15 miles to E before i finally found a station. To say the girlfriend was freaking out was an understatement HAHA.

Lol! We've all been there. Praying for a fuel station when you're running on fumes. This tank really solves that problem. It's expensive but pays for itself pretty fast.

Thanks for the video. Did mine today on my 2019 F350 with the B&W GooseBall. What a job. I had a little to much fuel in it. Should of driven some more before starting. It took me way longer to accomplish and I feel I’m pretty competent. The filler hose took awhile to disconnect and also the fuel line with the yellow connector. That thing was almost impossible to separate. Took a little finessing on the front U bolts to slide over the right side 90* bend to the inside. I should of studied the directions a little more on the rectangular spacers on where they went. I didn’t feel like it was up far enough for the skid plate to fit at first so I lowered it back down thinking the vent tube was wedged up in there somehow. Realized it couldn’t go up anymore I rerouted the vent hose along the top of the crossmember. Seems to be fine like that. I used the strap method like you along with an adjustable motorcycle stand which was the perfect height. Can’t wait to fill it up at $5.00 a gallon. LGB 🤣

Just recently upgraded to a 68 gallon fuel tank on my 2021 F450 at the Ford dealer. Before I got home after the install I heard a whining noise and a fuel pressure low alert message pop up. Obviously it turned out to be a bad fuel pump….had a new one installed…mind you only have 9k miles on truck. 2 days later hauling a 5th wheel across country got same noise and loss of power. So looks like another faulty fuel pump….waiting at a Ford dealer out of state for the verdict. What’s going on with these fuel pumps? Poor install…possible contaminants in the new tank?

Left the performance shop after they installed the new 60 gallon S&B tank. Went to the Chevron started to fill up, pump shut off. Gave it a little more just in case it was a premature shut off. It clicked again and I put the hose back. At that moment I notice fuel pouring out from somewhere. Looked underneath the truck it was coming out if the top of the tank somewhere. To drive or not to drive was next decision after it stopped? Played it safe and called a tow truck ...... did I overfill? Or did they do something wrong at the shop that installed it? Towed it right back to the shop we will see what they say in the morning?
@EpicCowlick4 жыл бұрын
Good call on not driving it. There's not much that can go wrong if it's installed properly. Sounds like they didn't plug a fuel line back in properly or worse, broke a connector and it popped out. Maybe they kinked the inlet hose and vent line? That is a very strong possibility. You might want to oversee the diagnosis. Sorry that's happened to your truck. Just another reason I prefer to do this stuff without "professional" help.

Could you tell me if the front and rear vent hoses located on the S&B tank... BOTH zip tie to the original ford fuel vent hose?

@@ricktripp3274 Those vents are fully self contained and do not connect to anything else. They are also designed to contain the fuel in the event of a rollover. No zip ties needed.

He asked the same question when I was done. The whole point of the video however was for one guy to do it completely just to see how hard it was. No biggie. I've helped two others install their tanks and we can do the job together in a little over an hour and a half. So yeah, two people is faster.

Great video. I heard you saw the tank only hangs down 3/4 of an inch lower than the OEM tank. is that accurate because S&B's website states its 1.75 inches lower than the OEM tank. thanks and love your videos.
@EpicCowlick3 жыл бұрын
This tank comes with 1 inch spacers for the brackets so that's pretty certain. When I measured 3/4 inches it was before it had it's first full tank. The weight of the full tank helps it sit down into the brackets and yields the full one inch drop.

Hi, I like you videos, in fact I have the same truck and I just purchased the same fuel tank, I have no installed yet, but when I come to to one my friend he pointed on something that is going to happen, but you are the best to confirm my suspect, when you fill up the fuel at maximum capacity the truck looks more lowered or not equal height at side? Done by the weight of the fuel?
@EpicCowlick4 жыл бұрын
I haven't noticed the truck sagging on the tank side due to weight of the fuel. The tank does hang down one inch lower than factory so it doews look different driver side to passenger side if you view it that way.

I've got the Titan which is 55 gallon. It's interesting that the S&B is 60...can't imagine any larger a tank fitting. I'm impressed by that feat. So are you running the Toyo RT's now?
@EpicCowlick5 жыл бұрын
I put a Titan 50 gallon in my last truck and it was awesome. S&B fits the extra fuel by going up. It's amazing I get 10 more gallons and hang down only 1 inch below the factory tank. They did a great job. And yes, I put the second set of Toyo RTs on before the snow started flying. Great, quiet yet capable tires. Got tired of the MT noise.
@zfilmmaker5 жыл бұрын
EpicCowlick I had the MT’s but they were terrible in rain and snow. You live in the snow belt haha, the forums say RT is just as worse. What’s your take? I like the look of the RT’s.
@EpicCowlick5 жыл бұрын
@@zfilmmaker The tires argument is so subjective isn't it. I went through half a dozen sets of MT's and was always happy with them. Loved the looks and the off road performance and never had trouble in rain or snow. I do keep a set of chains for the rear wheels when in deep snow so I'm never left wanting. These RT's get the same use and work great except in mud. The MT's were better there. They are a lot quieter for sure. I'm not sure what tire would work any better. Maybe an AT for ice, snow and rain? That's just not in the cards for this truck. Too tame looking.
@zfilmmaker5 жыл бұрын
EpicCowlick I hear ya! I get dizzy reading tire comments on Ford Enthusiasts, 2 people love one tire in Arizona, another in Minnesota hates it. Most people reviewing MT/RT never go off-road or drive in snow. I would love to know what chains you’re using. I’ve been thinking about buying a Deckd bed organizer to store such things. Anyway I put the Toyo AT2 on this summer but off-road and in wet fields is terrible but highway mpg is nice, I’ve only lost 1 mpg from the stock Michelin’s. I’d like to go back to the MT or RT (never had RT tho). I’m on highway, off-road, mud, rain frequently and snow...though never as deep as you may have. How’s RT traction in rain with an empty bed?
@EpicCowlick5 жыл бұрын
@@zfilmmaker Being from Utah, rain is fairly rare and always a treat. It's not something we ever plan for around here. ;) Having said that, I have had no problem at freeway speeds in the rain. The RT's are a tamer highway tire and do well in everything except really goopy mud. I do air down to about 15 psi in deep sand or super rocky 4X4 trails. The onboard air is great for that. I don't remember the brand of the chain, just that they are heavy duty and serious. They're a pain to use but a godsend when needed.

Dear Santa... One question- My Firestone air bag compressor is inside the driver side frame rail at about the second bench. Is this going to need to be relocated to fit this larger fuel tank? Great vid(S)!!

Can you definitively say this new tank only hangs down an additional 3/4" more than stock?
@EpicCowlick4 жыл бұрын
I wish I had taken the measurement on video and removed all doubt. It's easy to think through though. S&B provides a 1 inch spacer and reuses the factory straps. Therefore, the actual position of the strap cannot be more than 1 inch lower than factory. The quarter inch difference is probably due to the new tank still having a concave shape on the bottom. Over time it rounds out with the weight of the fuel and ends up the same shape as OEM.

Have you ever tested the accuracy of the “miles to empty” reading with the new tank? How accurate? Also, how far do you draw the new tank down now? Have you done the “zero miles to empty” and measured the remaining fuel in tank?

Funny you ask. I just got back from a long pull through several states. MTE was in the red at 23 and when I filled up I put in 54 gallons. Considering I was getting 9 mpg that was close enough. I had Ford do the fuel level sending unit recall in 2018. It is more accurate.

@@mike_adams Probably closer to 3 gallon reserve so you don't want to go to zero. It's an expensive item but one long towing trip and it's paid for.
