7:35 There's this common misconception about the farmhouse scene in Age of Ultron. People who aren't actually paying attention think it's about sterility, when in reality it is about abuse survival. It's very easy to break the scene down. A man and a woman are having an argument about their doomed relationship. The man says: You shouldn't be with me. I'm a monster. I'm such a monster, I can't have children. The woman says: Whoah there. I can't have kids either. Does that make me a monster? Then Widow goes on to monologue her tragic backstory and abusive childhood. She explains the series of mindwarp flashbacks Scarlet Witch put her through. And all anyone hears in all of that is "sterility equals monster." That's the main problem with Age of Ultron. Thor's hot tub cave sidequest and the excessive action scenes clutter the film and don't give Black Widow's backstory and character arc the room to breathe that it deserves. Black Widow isn't a monster because she can't get pregnant. She's a monster because an evil organization took her and hundreds of other little girls and turned them into monsters. They made monsters of children by stripping away their humanity piece by piece, and the very last piece of humanity they took was the ability to create life. Ensuring that those little girls could only take life. The great thing about Age of Ultron is that it encapsulates the arc of Black Widow's character development over her entire life, and explains why she is the way she is. The biggest shortcoming of Age of Ultron is that it's missing the scene where Black Widow regains her humanity. The scene that explains why she fights so hard to get Hawkeye back in Avengers 1, and why she does what she does in Endgame. And that scene isn't the first time she meets Hawkeye. It's not the first time he convinces her to join Shield. It's not even the first time he takes her to the farmhouse to meet his wife and kids. It's the fifth or sixth time she goes to the Barton farm for family dinner. It's the first time Hawkeye's daughter says "I love you Aunty Nat." Because in all Black Widow's actions across all the Marvel movies there is one thing she will never let happen. She is never going to let herself be put in the position where she's the one who has to explain to her niece why that little girl's father isn't coming home.

I HAVE A THEORY!!! ENDGAME SPOILERS BELOW. I think that Cap has ALWAYS been worthy, but since Thor said the whole "if you can lift it you can be King of Asgard" thing, the moment he noticed that he could lift it, he stopped. I feel like that's why he knew to lift Mjolnir during the final fight in Endgame. Cap isn't the type to show off, not at the expense of another, so it makes sense for his character. This scene should overall be a writing lesson. If you want people to care for your characters and to relate to them you need these scene where they're all hanging out and talking. It shows us that these characters are relatable and are indeed human. That we can root and care for them. That we can feel depressed at their lowest moments and feel great at their triumphs. This is why the MCU works so well.

My favourite scene of the MCU is the scene where old Steve returns to Sam and Bucky in the present day, and passes the shield to Sam, although I think he should have actually given it to Bucky, it's just a beautiful moment, and I love it. As an epilogue to such an epic movie it does feel like a natural and emotional end to his arc.

Well, now that it has been confirmed that Rogers was always worthy, this scene becomes even better.

I like how Endgame has made this scene better.

There's a small thing in the party that I feel people look past. Thor brings out that drink and states humans can't deal with it but hands Steve a cup of it without thinking.

I never realized how much this scene foreshadowed infinity war and endgame. from banner being unable to hulk out, widow not taking the challenge seems like a hint to her perishing before the final battle.

i love how Steve probably acted as if he couldnt lift the hammer

Just gotta say, I'm only 6 videos into the OMS playlist and already I'm seeing so many things that are made even better by endgame.

Why did all of these videos have to come out the night before I go back to school after I've procrastinated all Easter 😭🤦♂️

THANK YOU!! Since the first time I watched this movie, I was so sure that the writer had just written down an outline of the script, and the actors just improved because it felt so genuine and real

I completely believe that Steve chose not to fully lift the hammer as not to embarrass Thor.

I lean more to the theory that he wasn’t quite worthy because of the secret of Bucky he was keeping from the team, especially Tony.

de-malicious Nope, Kevin Feige confirmed Cap _was_ always worthy. .....Apparently, I’ve appointed myself the task of putting this same basic comment all through this discussion, where necessary. Maybe I should stop now! :-D

The film makers aren't saying Natasha is correct for believing she's a monster. To me this was actually a beautifully tragic scene where she opens up about her feeling of unworthiness. Also, the woman who cannot have children gives life to the universe. Just... mwah, chefs kiss.

Thor to Cap "I always knew!" :D (Note, the lack of context)

I need to see this guy's video on endgame after steve did lift Mjolnir I truly believe that Steve was worthy even in Ultron but he was too humble and as soon as he noticed the hammer was moving slightly he played it off.

This scene is even better after watching Endgame. Those who saw it will understand what I'm saying.

Thank you so much for initiating the Marvelous Scene Initiative, Nando. I've been following 8 out of the 10 creators in your group for a very long time now, you inclided. And now, I get to learn about 2 more. Moreover, all of you are working on a somewhat collaborative project. Thank you, Nando. Thank you.
