They had scripts. But they were essentially working from square one - er Phase One - again and most people forgot how long it took certain OG Avengers to catch on with the public. Hulk needed a recasting to feel interesting. Captain America had a solid first outing but took until Winter Soldier for people to declare him their favorite. And Thor? Yeah Hemsworth was solid enough in his 2011 outing. But it was Ragnarok that actually made people say they cared about Thor's arc - two whole phases later. The bigger issue is there's so much Marvel at once and that burns people out. We got the massive interconnected film/TV landscape everyone demanded from the Netflix era and it turns out... that isn't necessarily the best thing for casual fans.

My #1 biggest gripe with the MCU is the MASSIVE amount of miss opportunities. Cough teasing doom, cough F4 showing up at the end of BP1, cough the eternals talking about the origin of everything and mention the x-gene. Etc etc.
@kevinw71210 ай бұрын
in a way, I kinda don't think the MCU can really be saved, at least not w/o making some tremendous, from-the-ground-up changes. like I've been thinking about this for a couple years now, something doesn't get EASIER to manage the BIGGER it gets. It pretty much is the exact opposite. It's like this was destined to happen. And obviously continuing with their current plan, it's only going to get even bigger. I don't think this would be realistic to happen, but included in the plan to have a major shift in how they operate is letting the MCU simply go entirely quiet for at least a couple years. Give it all a break. Let people have a chance to truly miss you.
@lordofninjas110 ай бұрын
At least for the Fantastic Four showing up in Black Panther 1 thing, that wouldn't have been legally possible to do, as Disney did not own Fox at that time (filmed in like 2017, released in 2018, Disney got Fox in 2019) and I don't think Fox would have been willing to share at least those characters or the X-Men. I assume you probably meant the Fantastic Four showing up in Wakanda Forever, which would have been possible.

Cough, having the hex from WandaVision be foreshadowing for something much bigger Wanda was gonna do in M.O.M., such as accidentally creating the mutants (or reveal that she’d already erased them from memory and existence several years ago and then that hex comes crashing down by movie’s end. Oh, and have Strange show up by the season finale and undo the Westview hex at the end of that show so she has 1) a logical reason to be the movie’s antagonist besides a creatively lazy “an evil book made her evil” 2) a logical reason to go searching for her kids again and 3) a logical reason to have beef with Strange. As much as i like the tv shows, i think Marvel works better with being event films. Also another thing that hurt them is not having Avengers films to end the phases. Here's something extremely important that needs to be stated: The overwhelming majority of Marvel shows/movies lately has been seriously low quality with writing that has damaged worldbuilding, characters and more importantly to Disney, box office numbers(not as much as it should have but they've at least noticed the decline). Despite their countless horrible decisions I that at the very least Disney knows that unless they're 100% sure they can make something amazing that will draw people in, they're dead, there's no recovering if they use the hail Mary strategy of slapping the name "Avengers" on something with writing and characters as bad as they currently got

Also, Fozzie is Wong
@suicunesrider10 ай бұрын
@@EternityKingdomsHeadHoncho that’s a great idea and I love your casting choices for each muppet. I think you could also do it in a way where the muppets stand in for half the characters in the special, but also include some of the new MCU actors as their own characters, it would make for endless comedic possibilities. For instance, you could have Iman Vellani in the special as Ms Marvel, but Miss Piggy as Captain Marvel. Miss Piggy would say she’s the captain marvel from another universe, constantly bringing up how she’s Kamala’s idol of course, all while Kamala is flabbergasted. Giving new audiences a simple and comedic way of learning about the new characters and their place in the mcu. Each muppet, as an mcu character, pairs up with normal mcu characters they are connected to in this same way. And they all have some adventure together, which of course won’t be treated as canon by the mcu. But it would bring audiences up to speed on the characters’ relationships to each other and everything.

Alternative list 1. Do something with the characters you tease. If you want to tease Hercules, use Hercules. These cameos are great, but we want more with them 2. Not everything has to be avengers, or avengers level. Separating them is fine. I know marvel has been burned from doing stuff like the defenders, but supplementing some big team up movies or shows with other teams could be very fun 3. More special presentations. They're different, and they can just as easy standalone as they can tie upcoming stuff in. 4. If something does well, follow it up. Like Moon Knight and Werewolf by night. Both are great and we have no idea when we are going to see these characters (that are now more popular because of said presentation) or stories progress 5. Take more chances. Do something different, break the mold, subvert expectations. I think it's safe to say marvel was doing it's best when they were doing NEW and groundbreaking things, and those paid off the most. There are other ways to do that. Do something different to spice it up. Again for an example, look at werewolf by night. It was fantastic and alot of that was due to how different it was compared to the rest of the MCU and how it fully embraced it.

They could’ve led up to Civil War instead or even waited on that event too. They keep rushing to do their biggest crossover events. Now they’re leading up to secret wars, trying to go bigger then endgame. The multiverse should be infinite but it feels claustrophobic and small. And how will they get bigger than and outdo that?

The Muppetverse of Madness is genius like I’m actually sad it doesn’t exist

I agree with all a lot of this, especially the Muppets crossover. I also think Marvel would want to make a Defenders Season Two Writing (No but seriously I thought that first Defenders rewrite was great!)

I love the "you, Kevin Feige" bit. It always hits when you don't expect it.

that muppets pitch can easily be a marvel spotlight thingy or whatever they do now

a Muppets x MCU crossover is the best thing I've ever heard

With connections, I really appreciated the secondary characters making appearances within multiple movies, like Coulson and Fury when they didn’t have their own projects. Don’t need the big names showing up to steal the spotlight

One property I’m surprised the MCU still haven’t utilized is Big Hero 6. The animated film made money and was well received, Disney released some series not long ago so it’s still on their mind and in the public eye. They can even age the team up and be a continuation of the animated film

"Captain Marvel 2: Galactic Boogaloo" was probably just an off-hand quip, but it's a low-key brilliant title. A silly title like that would've drummed up a lot of interest online and also set the tone for what the movie actually was: silly.

I saw "Captain Marvel 3: A Christmas Carol" pitched somewhere a few years ago…

The issue Marvel has is they don’t have any focused main characters. The first 4 phases focused mostly on captain America and Iron man. Those were the main characters surrounded by side characters. They should find a small handful of characters to focus the entire MCU around and that’s it. They can still have side characters movies but they should be rare and spend most of their time focusing on the main characters. They could even branch out and have characters in the same universe but the themes of those movies can be completely different but they never cross with the other branches to give variety storytelling and they don’t have to worry about assigning us homework to know what’s happening in the MCU for those of us tired of “Superheroes”.

Great video! I love that you got very specific with your advice and gave examples!

Imo Marvel needed to involve more comic writers to help treat their scripts. Maybe promote the comic or another show that the movie is based on so there is interest outside the MCU but still in the Marvel bubble.

Ok, it's been 3 days since your Muppets idea has been put into the universe, and since they haven't announced it's coming, I can only assume everyone at Disney has been in a coma for the last 3 days and we need someone to go check in on them.

Is this video a meme? Why would we want marvel to ruin the muppets like they’re ruining everything else? Also Armor Wars is 2+ years away… why not cancel all of next years projects instead and just giving each project more time? These ideas don’t feel well thought out tbh…

Great videos, as always ! For me, they should not cancel Armor Wars, but it should be "Avengers : Armor Wars" and be also about the consequencies of the blip and maybe of other avengers mistakes, kinda their cursed legacy that Rhoodey, Falcon and the new one have to deal with. Not only carying a legacy, but facing their predecessors mistakes
