There is no better source than this channel to understand the personal impact of gastric bypass surgery. I have scoured online to find any other content as good as this. I am in the approval process and I come back to you every time to reference videos. When I feel myself losing motivation, I watch them again, out of order or based on what I need to reference. Seeing this video after just watching the day before surgery one is so motivating. I agree in this video you seem so much happier, but what I see in your eyes here is HOPE. The day before surgery, I could see the desperation and how worn down you were. That is so powerful and raw. I feel like that so many days and then just get angry at myself for not trying harder. Gaining the headspace back to focus on other things must have been so empowering. It’s so tangible and real in this segment. Thank you for sharing these and for revisiting them to reflect. You were beautiful then and now, and your light and heart shine through in your caring, sincere personality. I wonder if you would suggest any tips for preparing in the months leading up to the surgery. Starting to include more protein or getting used to shakes, etc? Also wondering if you would share any tips about how you structure your day to plan better, ensure physical activity, etc. I am also a working professional and mom. Not bingeing, but working very long days and then being exhausted. Some days I barely eat anything and power straight through until evening. Lack of physical activity and work stress are definitely my challenges after evaluation. I’m working on balance and considering options for a healthier career and home life. All about perspective! ❤️

I watched a lot of your videos several months ago, and I love that you are revisiting them now with feedback. I think I love your bariatric/lifestyle channel the best because you are so witty, committed and introspective. Please keep this going...I'm in line to be scheduled for surgery soon, and I enjoy hearing you speak about your life and how it's changed. Also, I would love to get some food ideas, too, for those first stages after surgery.

The thing I needed to hear is you didn’t feel “deprived.” That’s on my mind pre-surgery.

YES PLEASE. I am getting closer to my potential bypass surgery. Would love to get food ideas for all the stages, puree, soft, etc. I love your recommendations. I have been using the protein coffee for months now. I would also love any tips or recommendations for getting all your vitamins and minerals and what that is like. (I know we get recs from our programs, but would love to get some real insight from someone who has gone thru this) Thank you for your candidness and honesty. You have helped me soooo much. Love from a fellow Canadian!

I loved this video. It would be great to hear some of your meal ideas. It would be helpful to everyone trying to lose weight, and not only those considering gastric bypass surgery

Kara, you are truly my inspiration. I had been thinking about doing bariatric surgery for more than 20 years ... truly that long. At that time, I was thinking about lap band surgery but ultimately decided that I would lose the weight the natural way. I did not know anyone who admitted to having the surgery until a coworker told me in April of this year. And as I started researching gastric bypass surgery, I discovered you on your other channel. I love how you are so real and open. As I prepare for my own bariatric weight loss journey (I live in the U.S. and am scheduled to undergo gastric bypass surgery on November 30, 2022), I am re-watching your videos. I especially love where you revisit your old videos. The look on your face ... your emotions ... your feelings both then and now ... mirror my own. I plan to start a blog about my own weight loss journey and hope that it will be helpful to someone as your videos were to me. I am much too shy to do vlogs like you do but if I can encourage anyone ... especially those who are younger than me (I turned 57 on October 20, 2022) not to wait. Just go for it. Rather than every year putting on an additional 10-15 pounds and ending up over 300 lbs once again. This year was the third time that I weighed over 300 lbs. The other two times, I was young enough and healthy enough to lose 100 lbs by dieting and exercising. But now, I just cannot, with two reconstructed knees, do that type of exercising any more. And like you, I have always had a very bad addiction to food. The binging, secret eating, all of that sounds so familiar to me. Thank you for leading the way.

Boy oh boy THIS video hits home. I have missed out on so much life. Even though I am 72 I need this change in my life, what is left of it. I have not felt joy in my life for a very long time. I’m very glad I found your videos. Thank you!!❤

My surgery is September 7th. This video addresses my most important fears. To hear I am not the only one who has constant self hate, who eats in secret and shame, binge til I can't breathe.....your feedback now helps even more. My fear is just the pain part now....and prayers for a child. Pcos has made me infertile. This surgery can fix that too. Love both your channels.

It is so good to hear that you don't feel deprived. Because missing foods is exact my worry going in to this surgery. I watched a lot of videos and you are the only one talking about this.

I have been watching your videos since I started this journey back in September 2021. I was considering RNY and researching and found you on KZbin. I love your style! Witty, sarcastic and smart humor. They have helped me so much! I finally had my surgery on May 31, 2022 and I’m re-watching many of your videos because now I’m actually walking in your shoes. I would absolutely love ideas for all the stages. Thank you so much for continuing to offer so much help in this space.

Watching some of your videos again. I am almost 2 weeks post op and I am so over being on liquids. It will be 5 weeks total on fluids. Looking forward to Friday for pureed week! I never thought I would be so excited to eat cottage cheese, scrambled egg and canned tuna, haha. Thanks for your content, I really appreciate what you have put out there. I am excited to be able to ski, skate, snowboard and hike more without as much pain and exhaustion.

First of all thank you so much for making this channel separate from your beauty channel. I’m morbidly obese and I stepped on the scale a few days ago and it was the biggest number I have ever seen, the biggest I have ever been and I feel embarrassed and ashamed I let myself get to this point where I need to lose more than 200 pounds! I wish I could get gastric bypass surgery but I’m in America with no insurance and I know I wouldn’t be able to afford it. Seeing that number though has given me motivation to do it on my own and to get a membership to planet fitness and start working out five days a week. I just wanna say I relate to you so much and I have a 5 year old son that I can’t do all the things with that I want to it’s my husband that does all that stuff with him and he is in kindergarten now and enough is enough it’s time to do this not just for me but for my son! He needs his mom and I need my life back I’m tired of not being able to to all the things I want to do like going hiking I used to love that and going to Disney and Universal studios amusement parks.

I understand completely the shock of seeing the scale. I'm so sorry that the US doesn't offer the same kind-of coverage for this surgery. I wish all the best!
