"I came to a new country a month ago, my first trip abroad, oceans and miles apart from my family and friends. Excited? Yes, for the beginning of a new chapter. Afraid? Yes, of the unknown. Happy? Yes, for travelling internationally. Nervous? Yes, to be out of my comfort zone. Doubtful? Yes, of my decision. Scared? Yes, of being all alone.
But the day I landed here, all my doubts were put to rest. I was greeted with people as warm and as loving as back at home. Met many strangers this last month, unsure of how to thank each one of them. How do I thank the girl I met in the middle of the road who carried half of my luggage while I searched for my apartment, or the guy I met on the train who showed the right direction when I almost got lost in this new city, or the one who helped me with the groceries when I couldn’t lift them all alone, or the one who lent me the jacket when it suddenly started to snow, or the one who taught me how to cook when boiling an egg is all I know.. Irrespective of their age, gender, religion, nationality, colour or sexual preference, they helped me! They helped me break the stereotypes.
It’s been a month, and I am already in love with this city and its people."
