Hello Justin, I am in rolled and WGU teacher college for elementary. I would like to know at what point of your enrollment you had access to the courses? Best of luck many blessings

Nice to meet you Viv! You can access the learning portal a few weeks before the start of the term (first day of the month). This is the point at which you do the orientation. BUT you cannot start the first course until the first day of the month. That means you cant see the specific learning materials or assessments until that day. Hope that helps and good luck as well!

Have you had trouble getting your mentor to unlock courses for you as you accelerate? I have passed the first 4 classes and am constantly finding myself waiting for my mentor to respond to my emails or unlock the next course.... I sometimes have had 24 hours of free time where I wanted to dive into materials but it was locked.... have you had this happen? Do I need a different mentor?

I haven't run into that yet. I wonder if it's your specific mentor that might be catching up on their emails/tasks? I try to give my mentor 48 hours to get back to me. At the university I work at, we have a 48 hour email response policy, so I assume other organizations are similar.

Hi again Ashley. I might have a hack for you. My mentor has been away for while and so I was in touch with the manager in the mentorship department within the Teachers College (where my program is housed). I told him I am on the accelerated path and asked if I had to finish my last assessment in the 4th course to move to the next block. I also asked if it was possible to have the next batch opened up as soon as possible. He responded by saying that normally they wait until the "You Passed!" status on the 4th assignment, but because I was on a roll and doing well (based on my submission history), he was okay opening up the next course early. You could try something similar.

Oooh, that’s good advice! Thanks. Did you tell your mentor you were on the accelerated track specifically? And they accepted that? I told my mentor my goal is 6 months, but they still kept my plan at 2 years.... which means lots of things seem to stay locked.... even when I’m ready for them! I don’t want to seem aggressive- but eager to do the work! As it’s an online program - with minimal personal contact - it’s great to hear your perspective/insights on here - thanks for posting!

@@ashleynewton3423 That's frustrating. Ya I told my mentor I was on the accelerated path and she was all for it. She was rooting me on and seemed supportive. Though, it does still say that I am graduating in a year on my portal, not sure why. But as long as I have access to the courses, that's all that matters to me. So far I do.
