Thank you for introducing me to her. This song was everywhere in the late 80. Badly sung. So good to hear a good version.

I remember the first time I was honored to hear this woman share her voice. And again I am honored. Thank you for reacting to this!!

Wow. That is a power voice! It was almost like she produced a pure harmonic on one of the high notes (8:10-18). Amazing. Your 'straight tone' description was so right and I think it is what created so much power while not seeming forced. A beautiful thing. Thanks for the reaction, Beth. 💐💐

Dear Bethany . . . i've been a Linda Eder fan ever since she appeared on the music scene back in 1989 / 1990 . . . . i'm not aware of any youtbe analysis/reviews of her other than this one of yours . . . thus, it is so nice to see that you've given her the "Vocalyst" spotlight that she so richly deserves . . . Linda Eder is truly a treasure!!!!!! . . . and so are you, Miss Bethany !!!!!!!!!!!! Danny in Mississippi

I wish more people would discover Linda Eder, she is fantastic. She also has her own KZbin channel, you get to hear a lot of covers she does just for the channel. I knew you had good taste. 🥰 Edit: Of course I posted my comment before the video was over. You already mentioned her channel. 😂

Why i tune into Bethany, music appreciation. Never would have stumbled across Linda Eder otherwise. Expanding horizons. This was fun, thanks for featuring this for me, "new" vocal artist, personality. And helping us to, better understand, and appreciate excellence.

Linda has been one of my favorites for years. Her voice is reminiscent of Barbra Streisand, and her Broadway chops are incredible. She has been a secret guilty pleasure for me for about 15 years. I sincerely hope she is a secret no more...

I saw her perform at the grand reopening of the Warner Theatre in Torrington Connecticut a number of years ago. I was already familiar with her from the soundtrack of "The Civil War: The Complete Works." On the album she sings,"A Nurse's Diary", I Never Knew His Name", "Candle in the Window", and "The Glory" (with Michael Lanning & Gene Miller). I love that soundtrack. ❤️ I try to sing along with it, but the feelings hit too hard. I don't know how professional singers can sing such heart-rending songs without losing it. I saw the traveling show at the Bushnell; tears streamed often. 😢

Been watching you for a while now i really love your channel! And i love your experiences in vocals and being a vocalist my self for 28 years now iv had the pleasure of working with some amazing engineers! But something you dont see often is a great critic on a person's voice. Whats brought me to leave a comment is something iv never had a experienced person do and thats to rate my vocal abilities. Iv had tons of people tell me i dont sound like anyone else's but i have my on style of singing .well true is im still doing music and its a bucket list now .because of my declining health. Im not going to be able to preform any more after this year sadly. But iv up loaded my songs on the same KZbin page that im commenting off of its called the hydrostatic band. It would be amazing if i had someone like you that knows vocals and how to rate what you feel and hear .to be a critic on how i sound! Thank you and god bless!

I am so excited and happy that you reacted to LInda Eder. I've been hoping you would. Like you, I love her voice, personally I prefer her to the often compaired to Streisand. I often play this song when I need a boost, when my mood needs lifting. Have you listened to her in the Scarlet Pimpernel? I love the song the Riddle!

Lyrics Hear me now oh thou bleak and unbearable world Thou art base and debauched as can be And a knight with his banner all bravely unfurled Now hurls down his gauntlet to thee! I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord of La Mancha Destroyer of Evil am I I will march to the sound of the trumpets of glory Forever to conquer or die Hear me heathens and wizards and serpents of sin All your dastardly doings are past For a holy endeavor is now to begin And virtue shall triumph at last! I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord of La Mancha A Name all the world soon will know And the wild winds of fortune will carry me onward Oh whither so ever they blow Whither so ever they blow Onward to Glory I go! I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord of La Mancha A Name all the world soon will know And the wild winds of fortune will carry me onward Oh whither so ever they blow Whither so ever they blow Onward, to glory I go!

wonderful performance and thank you for introducing me to this singer. Also, if you are still taking suggestions, I would suggest the Faroese Viking metal band Týr (Song: Blood of Heroes) and the Russian Metal band Kipelov (Song: Ya zdes). I sent you an email today with more info and the links to those two live performances (before I read that only suggestions from comments would be considered, so: sorry about that). I hope my suggestions might be considered still, they are both well worth the listen. :)

I love your content, I know you don’t normally do lesser known artists, however, there is an artist that I believe has so much to offer musically. I would love a reaction to Prof - Louisiana. It’s a powerful song. He has a live version as well. He also has songs like Heaven, and vulnerable God. He is an independent artist that I believe deserves more attention. Hopefully you find his work worth a listen.

I'm sure that if I came to you for lessons, all I would hear from you would be the mistakes I was making.

My favourite quote from that musical (my favourite musical!): “Life as it is. I've lived for over forty years and I've seen life as it is. Pain. Misery. Cruelty beyond belief. I've heard all the voices of God's noblest creature. Moans from bundles of filth in the street. I've been a soldier and a slave. I've seen my comrades fall in battle or die more slowly under the lash in Africa. I've held them in my arms at the final moment. These were men who saw life as it is, yet they died despairing. No glory, no brave last words, only their eyes, filled with confusion, questioning, 'Why?' I do not think they were asking why they were dying, but why they had ever lived. When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies? Perhaps to be too practical is madness. To surrender dreams--this may be madness; to seek treasure where there is only trash. Too much sanity may be madness! And maddest of all: to see life as it is and not as it should be!” :)

I was listening to some Type O Negative in the car today and wondered if you did a vocal analysis for one of their songs. I'm surprised you haven't yet. Peter Steele had a quite unique way of singing I would say. Think it's called bass-baritone, but surely you know best. Anyway, nothign sounds like Type O Negative, voice and music are really unique. And they have a big fanbase that highly values his voice. It would be fun to re-watch their music video of "Love you to death" with you. Their live performance of "Christian Woman" at Bizarre Festival 1999 in Germany is also worth a review. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5qzZqaajNd-eNE
