This was a great video!! Enjoyed it thoroughly. Reminded me of my family making Polish Pierogi at Xmas. Yet another labor intensive tradition. Making the potato filling with farmers cheese and onions the night before, or the sauerkraut and mushroom filling, then, the teamwork the day of making them. Like an assembly line, one person rolls out the dough, another cuts out the rounds of dough, the third person fills them, the fourth person presses them closed, and so on. It's so time consuming you end up making thousands of them and freezing them to have throughout the year, but, oh so good. Your family making Lefse reminded me so much of home and tradition and I loved it !! These days of ''instant" and "fast" everything, it was nice to see your family still making a traditional recipe.

My grandma made lefse every new year. Put butter cod and smashed potato pieces in, it so good 😋. Still have it but have to buy it now.
@scorpiokitty97452 жыл бұрын
Proper Norwegian lefse is made out of only potatoes, salt and flour, nothing else. Mash the potatoes, kneed in the salt and leave it to the next day. Kneed in the flour, roll it out and bake it. If you don't have the frying contraption shown here, you can just fry them in a DRY frying pan. Use a brush to brush off all excess flour. Done.

Oh this brings back memories. Every Christmas we would get together and make Lefsa and rosettes, crumcaka, i have no idea how to spell it but all kinds of Norwegian and Swedish desserts. Loved watching this since my mom and grandma and aunts are gone it just brings back lovely fun memories even if i did cry. Happy Holidays

A potato ricer is a neccesity in every household here in Poland - Silesia region. We make kluski śląskie with it, something lime gnocchi but round and with a little hole in the middle so that gravy stays in there 🤤 love your cooking videos, food is love 😄 Merry Christmas ☺️

I got really excited when you said this was a Norwegian food. My husband and I are both teachers and he teaches Spanish and I teach History. He loves language and is teaching himself Norwegian! He has really gotten into the language and is watching some Norwegian shows. I am from Tennessee and he is from Buffalo, NY. I have never heard of this food! I can’t wait to show him this video and see if he has heard of it before! Thanks for sharing!

Girl try making tamales with different fillings. I will head to my tias tomorrow morning to help with the tamale making. And my job will be to just spread the mass on the corn husks. I will get to my aunt's about 9:00am and everything will be prepped. My cousins are here from Vegas so there will be mimosas and McDonald's breakfast sandwiches passed around. It isn't fancy but a hella good time. I live in Santa Maria, CA so of course my uncle will be doing up a huge Santa Maria style BBQ. Food and family once again with covid precautions. Have a wonder family Christmas and new years gatherings.

As a Norwegian I approve of your lefse making but calling it a type of flat bread is as wrong as calling a hotdog a sandwich 😆 Hope you have a good holiday with good food and company 🥳
@TheRealEvvonne2 жыл бұрын
Technically a hot dog is a sandwich. Especially when the bun splits. A hot dog is meat and you put toppings on it just like a sandwich AND before you disagree well what is a SUBWAY sandwich. That’s a BUN too and not two slices of bread.

Okay, I know no one is going to see my comment, but I have a funny story about lefse. So we were talking about it at Christmas one year and my husband's kids were in the basement of his Mom's house playing. My husband and I went downstairs to check on them, and my husband snuck up on them and yelled "LEFSE!!" The youngest was like, 😰 "I didn't!" Hahahaha like he had done something bad and we caught him 🤣🤣🤣
