The city in ZA is in Kalos, you can see it on the map on bulbapedia, we know Kalos is based on France. Why wouldn’t they just give Megas the to Gen 6 starters. But if you going to have a regional variant, you wouldn’t have the French Pokémon, Chespin, Froakie, and Fennekin. Sinnoh was Hisui, the starter aren’t gen 4. Those three make sense connecting France, Japan & NY. Hisui connecting Japan, NY & Hawaii. It would make sense to have a historical connection to France for the variants for the new starters.

I'd have gone with: >Snivy King maker. Grass/Dragon. Called the King maker as it sees into the hearts of people. When kings found a way to keep the crown in the family. The Kalos Revolution happened soon after. >Empoleon. Conqueror. Water/Dark. It conquerors other terrarory with its cannons. It developed an Ice Cannon technique to freeze enemies. It has a rival in a Galar Starter variant (Duke of Wellington) (If GF picked Totodile, then PL: Unova won't have anything) >Litten. 1700s Aristocrat. It saps blood from opponents (Leech Life) it can also sap a random stat from an opponent. It likes being clean and will spend days on this. (What will PL: Greece use if Kalos uses Tepig? What will PL: Brazil use if Kalos uses Scorebunny?) The trio are chosen by the Aura Trio, and they also have an RPG (Cleric/Tyrant/Vampire) while also having a French theme.

What A LOT of speculators keep forgetting about these starters is their middle/teen/ second stage evolution…WHICH IS KEY to actually knowing who it won’t be. Tepid would not be chosen bc Pignite could not evolve into anything else than a sumo wrestler, as it’s already suited up to be one. Emboar couldn’t really look any different as a sumo wrestler (especially in a Paris setting), unless Pignit didn’t have the straps or suit look already in it. Whereas Raboot does not scream Soccer Player, but just sporty kicker…so Raboot has more options for alternate designs for its final evolution than Tepig. Another example is Grotle, as it’s basically a mini garden that could grow into any kind of tree or plant design, so it has many variations. Torracat could evolve into staying on all four legs and having that Sabre tooth look. But Prinplup of course could have many future forms since it’s so simple, so it has to be Empoleon for every reason. I wouldn’t count Crocanaw out, but Prinplup has a lot more reasoning to be.

So i can do the break down, but the short version is that I believe the starters we receive in ZA will be from 3,4, and 8.

Here is the break down before people ask: I believe the legends series will all future a starter roster from diffrent regions. We will not get gen 6 or 1 starters because they will be in the wild like gen 4 starters were in PLA. Both sets of starters exist in the regional kalos dex. I also think gens 2,5, and 7 would not appear as these generations lent starters to PLA. Finally gen 9 starters we will not get as this game is part of the same generation, seeing the same pokemon feature in two games back to back as starters is not a good move on TPC.

If the legends follow the PLA logic the starters are transferred in from other regions to help with Pokédex creation I feel that the generations from PLA are the guaranteed starters for this so I think totodile snivy and litten

As interesting as your predictions are, Rowlett Cyndaquil and Oshawott already had connections to Sinnoh, or Hisui at the time, which is why they were chosen for the starters. Snivy and Piplup have those connections, making them the most likely grass and water type starters. Scorbunny has the connections because it's a soccer player, but Torchic is based on the French national animal, which is the rooster. Blaziken already got a mega evolution, probably because of the connections I mentioned, so Scorbunny is the most likely option. I'm definitely going with Snivy if this turns out correct, since it's my favorite of these three, I use Scorbunny a little too much, and I just used Empoleon in Legends Arceus when I did a run with only water types. Plus, I chose Oshawott in my first playthrough of Legends Arceus, so it makes sense I choose the starter from the same region in the next Legends game.

I don’t think they’d do a 2 starters from the same Generation. Totodile seems very unlikely considering Gen 2 got a lot of love in L:A and Cyndaquil (being in the Johot trio) was already used. Same logic goes for Tepig. Turtwig, Popplio and Scorbunny make sense. But they could throw us curveball and use one of the 3 Paldean starters considering Paldea and Kalos have a lot ties between them.

Based on the legends ZA leaks that are out but not confirmed yet says it'll most likely be serperior feraligatr and blaziken I feel pretty good about those choices as snivy definitely feels snoody enough to be french and the feraligatr feels right but if anything I dont feel blaziken being the fire starter I'd think it might be infernape or inceneroar personally

My Squad is definitely Full Gen 2 starters, Let them get the spotlight for the new Mega Evolution. It's very unfair that Gen 1 got and then skip Gen 2, It should be in order. Mega-Meganium (grass-fairy) it's very obvious that meganium can be fairy type considering it's design, they just have to add something twist or add-ons to it. Mega-Ferraligator (water-poison) just because grass againts water and poison against fairy. Finally, Mega-Typhosion. Fire-Dragon (my best option), Fire-Steel, or Fire-Fighting type.

I love this list, my main thing is that there is no divide stat wise. Every Pokémon game has a Fast mon, a Tanky mon, and an all rounder. This is the only point that I would raise, if we were talking about this in person. For that reason though, I think we’re looking at Froakie instead of Todadile.

I'm still rolling with the 2, 5, and 7 gen pokemon. It would just be really weird to suddenly go 2, 4, 5. Plus, it'd be weird to just give blatant bias to certain starters in a trio and then completely ignore the others forever. Granted, Charizard did get 2 Megas, and then a G-Max form first... but Charizard is a special case imo. Blaziken got a mega, too, and then a year later, the other Hoenn starters received one. I'm still thinking Totodile, Litten, and Snivy, or Chikorita, Tepig, and Poplio. I'm hoping for the first trio, as those are all my favorite picks in each game, but I'm satisfied with either. As much as I want some Turtwig love, I don't see it being the starter yet. My bet is that the Gen 4 starters are gonna get something special, but just not yet. Probably.

So, I always thought I was going to be piplup, snivy, and torchic after seeing them posted next to the PLA starters in promotional pictures for the Blueberry Academy DLC in Scarlet and Violet. However, in all fairness… They could have merely been hinting at the fact that legends ZA would be taking place in France, which we of course now know. I've heard some hints dropped by a popular leaker, Riddler Khu, who said that merch would be dropping soon with the starters for PLZA. since then, shortly there after actually, they did drop some merch that included piplup, snivy and.....Scorbunny. Now again, you may be on the right track, they may be doing a bunch of things to make us believe one thing and then just go completely different direction for your typical bait and switch, but by the same token I don't think they're nearly as creative as you're giving them credit for. An interesting thing that you haven't necessarily talked about though or I didn't catch it at least, is how these three would play against each other in terms of typing… Like if you can't make the typing makes sense in a Mexican standoff fashion, I think it throws wrenches into your gears here. A steel grass type Torterra becomes 4x weak to fire...the totodile you're proposing seems like it's water/poison (which is also hackneyed at this point) gives it no added benefit unless you're suggesting emboar will become fire/fairy.

i personally think that snivy and empoleon are just such obvious options for Z-A, as those pokemon already have ties to france like how the Arceus starters all had ties to japan. i’m not sure whether the fire starter will be scorbunny or litten though (i doubt it will be tepig, as tepig is based off of chinese culture. the obvious french royalty tie in is both snivy, which is actually based on europe, and empoleon, for the reason you brought up) cinderace definitely works as a football pokemon as football is almost as big in france as it is in the UK and the UK and france already have a lot of historical ties, but litten works well, especially for the time period, being a typical sort of french alley cat (which have received many movies *because* of how typical they are). or maybe i’m biased because i really like incineroar lol. i also think rowlet gets way more special attention than litten does even before Arceus so i dont think incineroar wont get in just because of it’s praise. i think i’d rather it be snivy, piplup and litten (bcz again i love litten) but i’d understand if its scorbunny
