That bothered me too, if I kill an enemy with better equipment than me I should be able to take it. Why is the main character just leaving it there to rust?

@@MarkDeSade100 Mostly because the developers focus strictly on balance or don't give enough consideration to the RNG factor for the loot, making it unfair when you take high risks to defeat tough targets, only for the reward to often not be worth it.

@@myopickid4180 They could give equipment sizes and if you are lucky you find the right size or need to make it fit or pay for that to be done. Or you would need to learn to use it properly first, make some "adjustments", a seperate stat to for example "heavy armor". You would need to get used to the armor you are wearing and more so if it is a heavier type. Something like that, switching constantly will be discouraged so you need to pick and choose what you make fit and then train for using it.

Sorry to disappoint but after playing a almost 2 hours i had enough, everything is to janky. Stardew Valley feels x10000 times better than this.. im disappointed by the game. hope devs stick around and put some serious work to polish everything, because im not touching it for a while.

Definitely gonna grab it during the winter sale. It looks really promising. I wish you could loot their weapons and armour from them. That's one of my favourite parts in open world RPGs. Sadly most modern RPGs want to lock that behind the crafting grind.

Gambeson is legit armor and not actually that easy to cut through despite what games would lead you to believe about it.

@@Totallynotkyubey Many soldiers went in to war with only a gambeson. Sure, a sharp blade can do some damage to you, but the armor will slow it down a ton. Furthermore, most blades don't stay sharp in war for very long. There are also smaller, lighter versions of gambesons that are designed to be under armor--those are less protective, but a stand alone gambeson is extremely thick, some being up to 30 layers of tightly woven fabric.

I believe shad did a whole piece on gambesons. Or the medieval history channel guy.... But I remember they tested it against blades, they were so tightly woven that it was hard to slice and acted like a pad against heavy hits. Blunt trauma still went through, but slashing was resistant.

They’re extremely passionate about it & super responsive and open to any critiques you have. They already have plans for things to be added on after release, including a 2 player co-op! gambesons do actually protect against cuts, but arent that great against blunt strikes. Padded cloth is suprisingly effective, but wont do much against a stabbing weapon like a spear.

I really don’t know how to feel about this game. On the one hand it has everything I should like in a game, it’s really my kind of game is what I’m saying, but… the plot feels so weird. You just get a house from a stranger for no reason, conversations are like purposely generic, it feels a little phoned in.

This is what saddens me, the combat in these game always falls short, like I know isn't the easiest thng in the world to make a good combat, but isn't the hardest also... it doesn't need to have the best combat ever, just something that's satisfying. ~The game you showed recently, DROVA, is a good example of it.

@karlosthehawk3730 You can loot the enemy. But they don't drop what they are wearing. You kill a guy with good equipment and the only loot you get is some random thing like lavender. You should be able to loot anything you see on them. Ruins the immersion

I think you may need to flip your idea on what gambeson protects you from. Google sword vs gambeson and check out some of the results from various testing. Thrusts are very effective against it but trying to cut gambeson seems like it's quite tough, and more blunt force gets through than anything. ThegnThrand has a few videos testing various things against it.

It can be cut through, but it's effective at stopping those cuts from becoming serious wounds. People wouldn't have worn and made these for millenia if they didn't have any effect. Gambesons/Aketons are useful.

Frame stutter and chugging is usually shader generation stutter or just the cpu in general can't handle the load in a well optimized game, at least.

combat really reminds of the game fortune summoners. that game had some amazing combat ai, It really made the combat have an interesting dynamic. you cant just button mash.last I heard about that game, was the devs went out of business before they could finish it sadly. you should try that game out splat. its an old one now though.

You got it opposite. Gambeson offers little protection from blunt. It provides decent protection from bladed weapons.

Looks great but early reviews over at Steam -for whatever these are worth- are decidedly lukewarm. I'd love to support a small team and the premise is amazing, but I can't go spending 20+ euros on enticing ideas with questionable execution (looking at you, Rogue Waters), this one (along with Metal Slug Tactics, which I was also really looking forward to) are now on hold, will have to think about it some more. Next stop for me, for now, Toads of the Bayou.

Played the demo before from your previous video and I didn't get to enjoy it much since it had no save and limited to 3 in-game days which went by just like that. Still wishlisted it since I very much liked how it looked. Too bad the combat hasn't improved since then, I'll just get it when its on a deep discount... maybe in a few years.

I always thought a gambeson was meant to be worn under heavy armour, like as padding for the heavy armour, especially plate armour.

Honestly, not entirely wrong. But ironically, the better the armour on top got, the thinner the padding became. And often it was a matter of accepting thinner padding to reduce the weight of the armour on top. If you have a 20 layer gambeson, you can't move as well, you overheat more and the armour needs to be bigger, thus heavier. With plate, it was sometimes only 1-3 layers that mainly served as attachment points for the plates.

You have a parry, dodge, light attack, and heavy attack. What more do you need for a simple 2d or 2.5d game? This game is about exploration and story. You don't need dark souls style combat. People need to knock it off.

Only Ubisoft games are delayed, capcom releases trash with poor performance, Bethesda releases unfinished games. The devs stated on steam they will be continuing to work on it to add more.
