Your playing at the beginning was amazingly tasteful and well thought out.

Love this 2204 amp coupled with the 4x12 V30 cab and a low-gain TS pedal. Dial in some delay and you're set. Well done Line6!

Wicked. I purchased your tone pack a week or so ago and I must say those tones are next level and easily worth the $5

The best I've ever played, and yes at $5 for an ever expanding tone library of this super high quality, I am continually grateful for and blown away by John's work!

I love my classic 1985 JCM 800! It rarely gets played since moving to modelers thought. It stays at home instead. This model sounds great for sure!

Yes please do drop this guy in the folder John! That is some sweet sweet tone! I used to have a JCM 900 before I had to downsize courtesy of having kids, so I do miss my nice fat Marshall tones, and this will scratch that itch nicely! Thanks as always mate, love what you do! 😍

Yeah, it seems to capture those Marshall tones nicely. I have a couple Marshall Presets. I use the 20 Dynamic Mic or the 121 Ribbon Mic on the 4x12 Greenback 25 Cabs. I switch the Mics in a couple of my Snapshots - What a cool feature! I tend to like the Drive setting pretty high on the Amp Settings. I've got a Compulsive on one of my Presets, and a Super OD on the other Preset for a bit of tone shaping. I think Line 6 Helix did a good job on this Amp.

GREAT sounds and playing, as always. Of all the amps in the HX Stomp, I definitely like the "Marshalls" the best. Maybe it's because that sound is in so much of my fave music. It's the sound of classic rock, right? I can understand why the kids like the newer metal sounds better - I like those too.

My IRL favorite amp, on the helix it's only rivalled by the Orange Rockerverb for the tones I want, but before that was added it was the definite #1

I'd like to know why when i just up and load up a stock amp, its bee city, but Jonathan does it and it sounds like a prime mic'd up amp

When I go back to the blackback after the V30 cab, I kinda thought it sounded a bit weak. But the serious answer is I got a special Hx stomp from Line 6

Nice version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen! Do you know a guitarist named Gary Hoey? He did a Christmas collection called Ho Ho Hoey, which has a similar "heavy" version of God Rest. He's probably best known for a cover he did of Low Rider?

What sort of cabinet speaker do you use? I use separate pedals through a solid state Deluxe Reverb but thinking about getting an all in one like a Helix or Kemper and a cab.

Awesome stuff man. Just wondering, where do you get some of the information on these amp models? Like how the parameters were modeled and how to approach controls for specific amps? Is there some sort of an open-source in-depth information for HX modeled amps ? Cheers!

Question: I feel the helix lac's in dynamics. How do you feel about it? Does it disturb you?
@johnnathancordy3 жыл бұрын
I think dynamics is a misused term. Typically when people say "touch sensitive" and "dynamic" they seem to be meaning that they want MORE compression (i.e. less dynamics). So no I don't think the Helix lacks dynamics, totally depends on what you're looking for and how you set up each model
@FabrizioPeretti3 жыл бұрын
@@johnnathancordy I actually meant dynamics in the technical way. I made some interesting tests, comparing the preamp of a solid state amp with the helix's own preamp through the same power amp and, I'm not kidding, there's like half the volume range when picking soft and hard. I realized that my "discomfort" when going dorect(nothing unusable, don't get me wrong) was not just a feeling but something true. I love to stay in that zone of soft overdrive that a marshall gives and I always struggled getting there on the helix. Interested in you opinion, since you are an expert amp user as well
@PatrickPretorius3 жыл бұрын
@@FabrizioPeretti could you give some more specifics and details of your test? I'm very curious myself about this. Which amp, pre-amp, helix model etc.
@FabrizioPeretti3 жыл бұрын
@@PatrickPretorius a simple 4 cable method. Amp was a randall Kirk Hammett signature i had around (it's my cousin's LOL) wich has an absolutely flat clean and a celestion 70/80 speaker. It's a decent transistor amp that works well with pedals thanks to the speaker. It made sense to use that for the test, plus I always experimet with what I have around and try to get the most out of it. Helix amp model was ( if I remember correctly) the roland jazz chorus, again it made sense and sounded close to my amp. I set everything to sound balanced in order to just be able to "feel" and ear the difference, at the end of the day timbre is a different thing from dynamics. That's pretty much it. I used the helix to switch from digital to analog preamp.

Master is too high. Above 5 the amp gets too mushy
