So I have always struggled hitting turf first and then ball = terrible distance... then I changed my eyeline to 1-2” in front of the ball and I “swing” to that spot in the turf and my strikes are so pure. I add in your shoulder turn and my 7 iron is going 190 dead nuts when I was lucky to get 155 before. Your a boss, love your videos!!

Hi for many years my father told me to bring the hands and arms back in a straight line I have been told when I was young not to look at golf magazines,as I got older I looked at you tube and got so confused,but what I love about your programmes,especially in relation to the Ben Hogan swing,Iam 65 years of age and was scared to go round my body in case I spanked the ball,today I scored 1 over for the first 9 and iam getting crispy,thank you Tom for making golf so simple,I might just be free from chopping the wood,still struggling with sand play Tom,in the Canaries the sand is so hard.
@SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
I'm very glad to learn of your improvement, David!! Sadly, many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings of "conventional" instruction - such as turning the shoulders level while independently taking the club straight back and then lifting it, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). We're doing our best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness. With regard to sand play, here is an episode from the beach (literally): kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2fPpIxphclra6s Beyond that, I would spend time practicing on your hard sand as that will be the best way to figure it out. By the way, a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Have you considered the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. So many folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result. Here's a link if you would like to know more about the school - saguto.golf - and here's a link to my free mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” if you’re interested in checking it out: go.saguto.golf/ You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing and experience great ball striking. I hope you'll give the school some thought. Cheers! Tom

I struggled with the weight shift crap my whole like, I stopped playing golf about 15 years ago. I just got the bug again about 4 months ago and struggled ever since. I found Danny Maude, Rick Shiels (driver setup and iron setup). Then just watched a crap load of golf swing vids. I noticed something...the deep hip turns back and thru, the shoulder tilt, the hands inside and around...weight on front foot for irons. I found a random video on how to "whip" the golf club for more club head speed. These have help A TON. Then I found you and the stack and tilt. This is pretty much what my swing looks like now and did not even realize it! No more weigh shift, or pick up the club in your back swing...blah blah blah. If you move your hips the right way, get your arms across your chest (hands inside) and stop worrying about weight shift and all the other noise...what you get is basically stack and tilt...who would have thought? also, love your Monty Python Holy Grail references...wish you were out here in Washington state, I think lessons with you on this technique would be AWESOME! THANKS for the videos!!!

Great video , another good tip I do is get a baseball bat or croquet mallet , hit the golf ball as far as you can along the ground toward the target with the the bat like it's a golf club, then swap to an iron and swing exactly the same way, perfect contact every time, as no more flipping or lifting as the baseball bat or mallet will top it every time if you try, also the absence of loft makes you hit off the front foot as trying to get it airborne isn't a thought. Then when you switch to the iron and swing the same the loft magically sends the ball in the air as you are not thinking of trying to do that, you are thinking of sending the ball as far along the ground as you can with a flat faced implement. It really works.
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hi Daz, Your described baseball bat/mallet exercise is interesting. I can certainly see it being an effective impact drill as many amateurs are guilty of trying to help the ball into the air, leading to breakdowns at the most critical moment of the swing. Thanks for sharing! Tom
@dazalenko42503 жыл бұрын
@@SagutoGolf That's exactly correct, it's such a minuscule weight shift but makes a massive difference that a simple mind trick can make it happen, I've seen drills where they say envision trying to hit the ball along the ground with the iron but people will still think about the loft so they then over do it and get too steep. The bent over baseball swing envisioning a flat faced implement swing thought seems to help hit the magic impact body balance point. The ball flies off feeling like butter. Another key is to replicate the feeling of how the mallet sweet spot is aligned with it's handle , even though the iron's sweet spot is off set to the handle, the design makes the club sweet spot align with the handle during the swing, the centrifugal forces on the toe push down on the wrists and also bend the shaft down to align the sweet spot with the grip handle just as the mallet or baseball bat is, so its important to really swing exactly like its the mallet and trust this. If any hint of distrust the swing momentum will falter, those forces will let go too soon and a shank will occur.

Hi Tom practice makes a crispier taste of golf for sure as a consistent 4 inch divot in front of the ball is the difference between us amateurs and those making millions in golf. Bobby Jones was the first to say that golf in the only sport played between our two ears. This is where we can actually see a four inch blur go past us and in what direction it is going. If we see a longer then 4 inch blur or none at all we hit behind the ball. What say you. Cheers

Question do you have a video on ball position with the different irons. Your videos have improved my golf game so much I really appreciate you thank you
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kim, I'm very glad to know that you are enjoying and benefiting from my channel's content! You have some leeway with ball position. Stack & Tilt book prescribes a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and incrementally more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (again, with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). It's very important to use alignment sticks when monitoring ball position - one on the foot line, a second one parallel to the first to mark the target line, and a third perpendicular to these to show ball position. Make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape. Keep up the great work and have fun out there! Tom

Hi Mark - Here's my best succinct answer. Unless your friend is tying to take your money on the course, Jack, he is quite misinformed and you are spot on! This happened to me yesterday … A friend of mine was taking several practice swings with a 5-wood next to his ball, but he was sweeping the grass SIX INCHES BEHIND THE BALL! 😳 I told him, “Take another practice swing”. He did the same. I said, Take another practice swing” and he looked at me puzzled. I told him “You’re brushing the grass six inches behind the ball. Don’t swing at the ball until you brush the grass AHEAD OF THE BALL!” He brushed the grass behind the ball AGAIN. But finally made a practice swing brushing the grass in front of the ball, and I said “OK, NOW hit the ball”. He hit a good one. I think he was focusing on making a smooth swing and tempo; but I told him his practice swing should be with purpose, and that is “hitting the ground AFTER the ball” (so he could hit the ball first, then the ground). Only time will tell if he remembers that tip. 👆🏻 #SagutoGolf

Is the downswing started with a hip bump forward?
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
How to initiate the downswing is a loaded question because it is so dependent on individual tendencies that I cannot give a generalized answer. If I tell you that it's a lateral hip slide but your downswing already naturally has sufficient forward force, then you'll hit pushes and/or hooks all day long, and if I tell you to rotate your hips but you are already naturally applying enough outward force, then your destination is pull/slice city! Here's a link to a playlist of my downswing related videos on this channel - kzbin.info/aero/PLV62KxT7Mp7Jxi814RQddJx3wkHqxqhio - perhaps you may find some helpful information there. However, if you'd really like to get on the fast track towards owning this swing, my best suggestion is that you consider joining the SagutoGolf online school. For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only learning system for the full swing and much more. This simplifies the process through succinct, step-by-step videos, and I'm regularly adding new content. @TSC, Without actually seeing your swing I really have no clue as to what motion or action might be causing you discomfort. You may wish to look into arranging for a V1 Swing Video Analysis - a very effective service that many of my students take advantage of for diagnosing and resolving swing issues they are experiencing. You may learn more about this here: app.v1sports.com/Saguto-Golf Beyond that, it is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a sequential learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards learning and owning this swing. For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only system for the full swing, the short game, and much more. The school's intuitive course layout greatly simplifies the entire process through succinct, step-by-step videos, and I'm regularly adding new content. He couldn't comprehend it. I finished the round at 1 over, and well, you can guess what he finished at. Hey Jeff, it looks like you're progressing here because you are ABLE to do it with the practice swing. You have to keep working through this change and really FORCE the arms to stay straight as uncomfortable as the new feeling will be. If it feels comfortable, you haven't made a change to your swing.

Hey Saguto, I'm changing to your swing. My balance has gone awry. How about a video on balance. Thanks.
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen, Once you are able to keep your weight forward throughout the swing without any swaying off the ball, balance tends to become a non-issue. You start with your weight forward (55/45 on the front side; 60/40 for the longer clubs), increase that same weight forward to the top of the backswing (70/30), and further increase the forward weight during the downswing from halfway down (80/20) through impact (90/10) and to the finish at 95/5 forward. Properly executed it's a very centered swing with the weight never leaving the front side. Have you considered enrolling in the SagutoGolf online school? For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only system for the full swing, the short game, and much more. Hi Tom I'm Graeme having trouble with driving with the way you swing can you help me please
@SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
Hi Graeme, It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. In fact, here is a video of Stack and Tilt co-founder Mike Bennett hitting the driver: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZfQpa2vfZilqaM. It looks very similar to his iron swing, right?: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iX3NqIiVZqiWbdE If you do a search on this channel you'll see some content on the driver and fairway woods. Upon learning this swing properly you will be harnessing the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". This is the reason my students and online school members of all age ranges end up bombing it farther than they ever had previously. Speaking of which, if you'd really like to own this swing through your entire bag please consider enrolling in the SagutoGolf online school as so many folks across the globe are now playing the best golf of their lives as a result. For just $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only learning system for the full swing and much more. @SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Sure does, Howard. However it is important to note that the downswing path should naturally get shallower as we move up to the longer clubs, resulting in more of a sweep and considerably less divot with the fairway woods, and obviously no divot with a teed up driver. Cheers, Tom

@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hi James, The great suggestions offered by others in reply to your question are consistent with the response I would give: 1) Get yourself an old hand towel fold it in half. Place it no more than 2 inches behind your ball, thereby requiring you to miss the towel and make ball first contact on your downswing. As you improve, move the towel closer to the ball. The small thickness of a one-half folded towel will not impede your backswing takeaway. 2) If you can, put down a thick chalk line or some inexpensive spray foot powder on the mat about an inch in front of the ball. Try to hit the ball first and then the chalk or powder. The mark on the mat - or lack thereof - will tell give you instant visual feedback. Cheers, Tom

@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
It's still the same. Hit the ball first and then feel your club bounce off the scorched earth, where afterwards you'll search with a magnifying glass for the divot that you know ought to be there...😂 Seriously - you can still hit it crispy even off of an asphalt cart path since the flight rules have already been imparted into the ball and the ball doesn't care what happens after that!
