My favorite line from this season, "Talent is something you make bloom, instinct is something you polish, today might be the chance to grasp the chance to let your talent bloom. Maybe tomorrow, the day after, or next year... Maybe even when you're thirty. I'm not sure if physique has anything to do with it, but if you think that it will never come, it probably never will.” - Oikawa Tooru

This episode and the culmination of Oikawa’s character from the previous ones is the reason I’m an animator today. I don’t think you remember but in your S1 Winners and Losers I’ve commented how this show made me rekindle my passion for art. Oikawa saying, “talent is something you make bloom…” specifically spoke to me when I was like his younger self lamenting on how I’m not naturally talented. All this to say I’m glad this show also means something to you guys and I genuinely hope you guys succeed in any endeavor and passions you have !!

23:24 Actually Ushiwaka did grow up in a farm. This is more of additional information from the manga rather than a spoiler since they didn't have time to include this in future episodes. His family has farms, possibly passed down from a long generation, since his family is possibly upper-middle class to downright rich, and very traditional & conservative. If you remember the study arc, a lot of japanese classes in school focus on idioms that teach values and morals. Japanese people historically love making poems full of metaphors. You'd see a lot of it if you watch the FX series "Shogun". Add the fact that Ushiwaka's family business is farming, and his family's economical status is quite high & privileged, they probably have farm-life idioms written in beautiful calligraphy all over his home. Ushiwaka going on about farm-related idioms is similar to why Takeda-sensei always give poems/metaphors as his speeches. It's their culture. Since his family is upper class, very strict, and conservative, it also explains why Ushiwaka himself is conservative, rigid, and blunt. He's a hard worker though. And the fact that he's been leading his school to be champions of Miyagi Prefecture for 6.5yrs straight, then his team is consistently within Top 8 of the entire country, and he himself is considered one of the Top 3 aces in the entire country...speaks about his skills and efforts. 23:53 Kageyama grinds his teeth when he sleeps. Some people have to wear mouth guards when then sleep because they grind their canine teeth too much until they get blunt.

Wanting Seijoh to win is so painfully relatable... I've seen this show at least 25 times (not even exaggerating) and every time I hope they'll somehow end up winning this time lol. Of course I'm super happy for Karasuno as well but this is one of those victories where I can't fully celebrate until later, and in the moment I just gotta be sad for Seijoh because man, they deserved that win so bad! Both teams did, they both did absolutely amazing but there's always going to be a loser regardless, and it just ended up being Seijoh this time. Super excited to see your reaction to the bonus scene and season 3 though!! You guys are gonna love it, I think the top 3 matches so far are this one, the next one, and the last one from s4.

Episode 24 Season 2 will always remain one of the best episodes of anything for me. And I feel yall, Seijoh's loss is one of the most heart wrenching scenes personally, and Rise's reaction is such a mood, to oikawa seeing the ball, knowing damn well where hinata was going to hit, with the perfect position to save it and ultimately failing just because it hit Kindaichi's fingertips and changing its trajectory by just a bit - PAINNNNNN. Especially since the 3rd years despite being so good, ESPECIALLY oikawa never made it to nationals (its a different agony because Seijoh at this point will always be known as a good team, and oikawa one of the best players within the prefecture but never good enough to get the chance to make a name for themselves at nationals), and while i was rooting for Karasuno, it does hit very close to home (along with the bonus clip oh LORD HAVE MERCY). Iwaizumi still gets my vote as MVP of the match. :")

Ep 25 really brought me back to team sports losses. Feeling that intense feeling with your team is a feeling like no other. Also Oikawa flexing his volleyball IQ. He's been onto Karasuno as the dark horse from day 0. Ushijima didn't see potential in Kageyama but Oikawa saw it before anyone else. Straight up best character, can see the future and saw that he's inferior.
@LogicUnpublishable6 ай бұрын
I just love Yachi so much I think that subtly she has such a hugely positive impact on Karasuno's growth and trajectory. Like there's actually so much that she did. She helped Kageyama and Hinata study so they could go to the Tokyo away games and make a good impact on the Fukurodani Academy Group. She trains with Hinata and Kageyama and is there for their fight, and gets Tanaka to break it up before either of them get seriously hurt. She makes marketing/advertising flyers for the team so that they can raise enough funds to get a bus to go to Tokyo and Shinzen for all the training stuff. She encourages the team, calms down Yamaguchi when he gets nervous before the Aoba Johsai game, and her presence brings Kiyoko out of her shell which in turn inspires Tanaka and Nishinoya. She represents a future for the team's management, and that takes some stress away from the third years. Some of this is small stuff. But I think it really adds up to being the difference that pushes Karasuno to the next level.

One of my favorite episodes of anime ever. Something that's really cool about that last point is that everybody on both teams touches the ball at least once. Also if anybody is interested the Volleyball World channel is posting clips of the ongoing Volleyball Nations League tournament. Both Japan and USA national teams are ranked in the top 10 in the world (Men's and Women's). This anime got me into watching real volleyball and it's a blast.

Im a capricorn🤍 this is my comfort anime and I love rewatching this with y'all! 19:23 I agree with editor-sama Diana lol. it was Hinata's plan to do One Touch all along so I dont think it would've been stopped regardless but Oikawa did predict that Hinata would use that pocket somewhere since Kyoutani was there who's a rookie blocker so it was a bit of space there for a spike, if Hinata had planned to spike.

[Incoming novel:] Not Maya already losing it from Oikawa's spike-serve lmaooo - the match hasn't ended! XD And YES god Daichi's endless practices coming down to receive that second serve and him yelling, chills dude. Maya being exhausted from the stress lmaO this is only season 2!!! 😭 😭 😭 Heart problems from this show man lol (and also Suga being substituted at match point and still executing despite everything depending on his serve, he's such a reliable player every time and I love the double setter move) Also, GOD - YOU JUST CAN'T HATE OIKAWA MAN, DAMMIT XD he's such a well-written character - he *knows* Kageyama will surpass him, he knows it deep within himself, and yet he still plays like it's the last thing he'll do (and it probably is). And with that look in his eyes when he says 'I won't lose.' I'm reminded of the mangaka being a horror writer in the past again lol - you see it in how the eyes are drawn sometimes! XD That focused, slightly deranged unsettling look of pure will, it gets me every time AND THAT FINAL POINT. BRUHHH CHILLSSS - CHILLSSSSS. Just everything about it, I rewatch that scene sometimes, Oikawa pointing to Iwaizumi, just. Man. And Oikawa and Kageyama facing each other while all sound fades out for ep24, just. Man. Barely have words. AND THE FACT THAT OIKAWA WOULD'VE RECEIVED IT IF THE BLOCK HADN'T BEEN THERE. Justtt. The whatifs and the silent drop of the ball. Karasuno winning and the seconds of silence before the whistle and everyone screaming. Also I appreciate that Oikawa just says 'don't get cocky' - it'd be unlike him to do anything else, even though that was his last game as a third year and the last game with this team. He could've said N number of things but he just said all that happened here was we're now 1-1 lol. It's almost comforting in a way, looking back on it. He'll never play again with these guys but for now? Don't get cocky about the win lol. And the 2nd and 1st years of Seijoh are already declaring war. You just can't hate Seijoh, and I like the depth we get to Oikawa's character when Ushijima finds him after - the eyes again when he tells him to never forget his 'worthless pride', and how his career is far from over. And the fact that he drops Kageyama's name lmao - never gonna admit it to Kageyama's face but acknowledges him behind his back as his almost-successor lol, Oikawa is an interesting character. And the fact that he's like lmao don't think you'll win just bc I'm not facing you this time round, my junior's coming round to beat yall's ass XD Also Kageyama and Hinata never going tf to sleep even after playing 2 matches and having a boss fight the next day like bruh omfg GO SLEEPPP And the final thing that Yachi says really hits me sometimes because I think about how different *I* could be if I hadn't watched Haikyuu years ago - it helped me at the time when I was struggling and some of the ways in which the characters tried their hardest and their different struggles each of them overcame inspired me to try things in turn. The shows I've watched have helped me, and without them I'm actually not sure where I'd be. Would be curious to hear yall's thoughts after watching all of Haikyuu in a separate video! How y'all felt and if it changes anything for y'all in how you see or think about things

Season 3 is a bit of an odd one, 10 episodes spannig a single game; it's got some complicated feelings attached. Season 1, 2, and 4 all have that balance between slice of life and the game, but this only has the game and it feels weird to even call something so small a season. I'm sure by the time this episode is out that you've watched it all, and already know, but it's still weird to think about. As for guessing star signs, I really suck at that stuff, but for me, I'm a Capricorn; half goat, half fish, all awesome! :D
