Dude, 100% I am so glad that you caught Oikawa's last set animation. The scene of him slipping is one of my favorites. It really show's you how desperate he was to get up and keep playing. A lot of players might've sat there and watched and see if the set made it, or be slow to get up, but Oikawa was just so hyper focused on getting back up, insane animation. Definitely one of my favorite scenes, great reaction

You perfectly explained the dedication of oikawa for winning! That last toss where he fell clearly shows his love for volleyball and to reach nationals.. He deserved nationals as much as daichi, Asahi and suga.. for me he is the best setter in this anime 😭❤️

The sad part is that Oikawa had it on that last spike. He saw the play, read hinata and kageyama and was in position but Hinata hit the ball off of the blockers and there was nothing Oikawa could have done about it. It's kind of a parallel to Oikawa's story where he's without a doubt a national level player but at the end of the day you're only as good as the team around you. Oikawa's been hard carrying the team off pure hardwork and leadership.

Oikawa is literally my favorite character. Idc what anyone says, his character is just so well written that it feels almost real. Like its tooooo real and humane that it takes out the aspect of "anime" out, becuase it happens irl aswell. People work hard and sometimes they succeed and sometimes they fail. oikawa represents the curse of ordinary. He battles with himself throughout the series. Everyone around him sees his talent and efforts but HIMSELF . Even ushiwaka considers him worthy enough to come to shiratorizawa. Its oikawa who is insecure about geniuses becuase why not him? When he works so hard and puts his absolute best? he knows that he will never reach the level of absoluteness a genius can. He KNOWS this and he TRAINS but at the end he ends up failing against natural talent. In s01 when Seijoh wins against karasuno oikawa agrees to the fact that tobio might beat him some day but just not that day but in this season he tells his teammates that he will not lose. Now this can be taken in to many perspectives, but I like to think that he meant it as in the future. He will not lose becuase "talent is something you bloom, instinct is something you polish", "but if you think that it will never come, it probably never will." he has changed since his last win to karasuno (even his teammates notice this change) , that day he might have won but he lost to himself, but he has grown since then and even though he "lost" in this match, his mindset won. (the Last scene where he sets the ball to iwaizumi is a proof of that. He is not going to STOP)

Your reaction had even ME stressing out more than usual, having already watched the final sequence like 50 times xD But oh god, it really is immaculate. Animation, music, voice acting, directing - absolutely incredible. Really happy to see you love it too! Just a tiny point I figured I'd add - they cut this from the anime possibly for better flow, but in the manga when Oikawa does that crazy toss, Aobajousai's coach thinks how, even though he's always thought highly of Oikawa, he might've still been underestimating him. Goes to show just how insane he is. Also, really love the overall appreciation of the end of the match and everyone's efforts; while it's understandable, many reactors tend to just celebrate the win, it's good to see you note many things about it. "When he [Oikawa] gets up and slips on a little bit of fabric - that shouldn't be there. Why is that there?" omg at first I thought you were referring to that whole moment and wheezed, cause I remember how outraged (in a good way, read: hurt) the fans were when they saw that detail, but then I realized you're talking about the fabric :"D

"Everything about this show woks so well" - exactly this. Really love all the points you made about the show in the end. Sadly, you will see certain production issues in the future, because corona hasn't been easy on anyone, including the animation industry, but it still doesn't undermine the fact that the story just /keeps/ getting better, and is overall an incredible journey, which we're really enjoying watching you on! Thank you for reactions equally wholesome as the show itself!

I don't even care to warn first-time viewers about "worse animation" or whatever later on that so many people complain about, because at that point the story is just so great that it's negligible. There can be as many dank character models and not as good animation, but the story smooths that over for me, it's a non-factor

Oikawa’s growth is one of the most well-handled and well-written parts of Haikyuu. Up until Kageyama dumps the ball in episode 24, Oikawa never believes himself to be a genius. He sees people that Kageyama and Ushiwaka, players that are simply beyond human, and it shakes him to the core. In his mind, they are walls he can’t climb over alone, and that realization pushes him to be the best all-around player. He works on his sets, his communication, analytical skills, leadership, all that jazz, because in terms of pure setting skills Kagzy blows him out of the park. And while that realization helped him improve in different aspects, it also held him back, because he hides behind the idea that naturally gifted Kageyama can simply do things he never could. At least, up until Kageyama dumps the ball in his trashy k-pop face; because now Kageyama isn’t catching up anymore. He’s pulled ahead. And if Oikawa wants to fight Kageyama on the same field, he must accept that his firm belief that Kagzy is objectively better is pure BULLSHIT. And immediately after that realization hits, Oikawa does a freak quick set from across the court perfectly into Iwa-chan’s hand, non-directly communicating that it’s HIS turn to surpass Kageyama. And that’s why trashy K-pop is top tier character material.

The director of this series, Susumu Mitsunaka is the one who direct and storyboard this episode and pretty much a lot of other hype episode of this including the EP 24 of S1 too. He, the action director, (Yasuyuki Kai), and chief animation director (Takahiro Chiba) of this series should deserve a praise for their amazing work. It kinda sad that next season would be the last one they work with before Production IG kinda change the production team for latest season. But at least it would give you assurance that the next would be equally hype.

15:50 This position... This timing... This angle... It's perfect! If you rate the show 10/10, prepare to recalibrate your scale for S3. You are right, that last Ooikawa's set was remarkable, especially for a 18y old boy. It's impressive at every age actually, and one of my favourite do use in a game. For american reference, it's like idk, a quarterback doing a 120 yards pass, on the last play in the last seconds of an important match. The anime perfectly depicted that move as a good one, but also showed the fact that in volleyball every play is just a play, one of like 300 you build every match. Even intense and special ones, are equal to the others. It's lowkey a positive message, you don't have to be absolute best to win, and at the same time, being the best is not enough. It's a team sport, after all. Notice how in the last points there's always a difficult server. It's obviously an anime trope, but if you follow the points (easier in the manga), you'll see that everything checks out. The author choreographed everything since the starting lineup. Oh about the commentators reference. Be sure they are not from Usa, please. European style commentators are calmer and more about describing what's happening with some insight. Southamerican commentators are all chaos and enthusiasm. In the States, for what I saw, they are unreasonably hyped about every little thing to wake up che audience and they throw every useless statistics they can elaborate, for the same reason. Like "fist time they take two points after they lost a set and they wear the black jersey instead of the orange one" lol

i see rarely reactors noticing and talking about it except for the professional players ofcourse, but if oikawa is one side of seijoh's overall force iwaizumi is the other half of it, many of you have already mentioned how amazing oikawa is and rightfully so, so ill just be highlighting on iwaizumi, if you notice especially in this game iwaizumi has not only been making amazing spikes this game [that last insane set of oikawa to match perfectly with the tempo the set is coming from all across the other side of the court is no joke so props to both of them, because even syncing it is hard enough, adding to that he actually applied full force on it while the match was at its climax and the pressure upon every one of your plays is unimaginable] but also his incredible defence iwaizumi is im pretty sure on par with an above average libero in professional highschool volleyball scene, if oikawa uses his team to the fullest then iwaizumi is someone who fills in the gaps of the team both physically in the game and morally as a player, and to have that big of an impact in the defence of the team when you are also titled as the player who executes most of the offensive plays for the team, just shows how amazing of a player he is and its lowkey frustating to not see the appreciation he deserves as a player😅

My own little analysis about the title of this episode: The title of this episode is one of my favorite in Haikyuu. It poetic title about how each team bring the best out of other and made them hit their limit switch. So does Oikawa and Kageyama through their rivarly. In last season that rivarly change Kageyama for better as he realize the importance trusting his team mates just like Oikawa with Aoba Johsai. Now it also change Oikawa as he realize there more to his talent then trying to beat people he consider more naturally talented than him like Kageyama. I always see the sentence "I know. But I won't lose" that Oikawa mutter after Kageyama giving him a dump as him acknowledging that Kageyama is a better setter than him. Neverless he would not concede the match despite knowing the fact. That sentence made him able to hit his limit switch. He risk getting injured and not able to play next match against his other rival, Ushijima, but still does that set to win next point. It no longer about beating people superior to him as a player. It about winning just this match with his team. That why he can give it all for that out of court set and push himself to the limit.

I don't care if I've watch this anime start to end like 10 times. It's always so stressful when the matches go long. They manage to build tension so well, in a way that feels organic and authentic. The music is also working overtime to get you hyped and on the edge of your seat. I love the spotlight on Seijo here, especially Oikawa and Iwa. The captain and ace really elevate the game, but the rest of the team being so good really just illustrates why Seijo is a powerhouse school. Everyone gave it their all for that last rally, and I love how it's emphasized by Furudate-sensei that talent is sharpened by hard work and dedication, and that even when you lose, you can still keep improving.

The coach name is Blanco. Is an ex Argentinian setter. Is explained in the manga. not really important to know at the moment. but at least you should not confuse him with Ukai .Oikawa probably talked to him between the loss against shiratorizawa in the finals and this tournament.

The coach advising Oikiwa? Yeah… it’s a long time before you learn who that is. So I’m not going to spoil it.

Oikawa's set is spectacular (It's honestly one of the reasons I came to like him as a character; I would say I'm not his biggest fan, but I love his character arc that makes up for some of the shortcomings in his prickly personality). Anyway, that set is such an act of desperation and it's so well-placed in the pacing of this match. Haikyuu! never misses those pathos-laden beats and narrative payoffs. I can't tell you who the man that Oikawa talks to is because that's something to discover going forward; I can say, though, that it is not Ukai.

The most unfair thing in life is that sometimes even when you work really hard for something or to attain some skill there will be some genius for whom all that you work really hard to achieve is very easy just because they are naturally good at that and that's oikawa's life he gave his 100% to volleyball but could never qualify for nationals but there were geniuses like kageyama and ushijima who were naturally gifted volleyball players who lived oikawa's dream

Most haikyuu fans when they watch haikyuu for the first time doesn't understand or doesn't feel that bad for oikawa, even I didn't care that much when I watched haikyuu for the first time,at that time more than anything I wanted karasuno to succeed but now when I watch again my heart breaks 💔 for oikawa ,he is one of the most realistic character ever written

Oikawa stanboys are some of the most annoying people in the haikyuu Fandom lmao. Like we get it, he's an amazingly written character. But it's only you morons who just HAVE to bring down other characters to be able to praise your favorite.
