PRO TIP: If you are in mod edit mode on any of the modules (ie if one of the mod buttons is pressed/active) Then you can still move the knob (rather than edit mod amount) by holding down the ALT/OPTION + SHIFT keys. This is really useful if you want to tweak the knob position and modulation amount together without having to keep clicking the mod button on and off… it really improves the workflow. Just remember: ALTernatively I can SHIFT the knob!

Thank you Omri for showing this and explaining how to dl/use it... =] This is AwEsOmE, it solves all the things about SurgeXT VST plugin that I wish could be better. #1 It's very visual. Something the VST is sorely missing. Visuals for wavetables and envelopes is brilliant. #2 Limitations of the Simi modular VST are blown away. Fully modular, no limit on the number of components, with nice visual modulation. #3 Effects are able to be modulated...!! Oh ya... =] Just brilliant, thank you to everyone working on this.

Not trivial to build Surge though. It would make our CI last that much longer (which is already quite an ordeal) and make our final binary that much bigger. Means builds like webassembly can't be cached etc. So make it: maybe, but likely not soon.

@OmriCohen-Music2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm not so sure I understand. Do you mean how the actual modules were built? Or how the synth works?
@piotr36602 жыл бұрын
@@OmriCohen-Music I mean, that VCV version, probably, if I well suppose, are modules, made from fragment of source code of Surge VST. If I am right, then it is possible to make, knowing the Surge VST block schema, the VCV version of surge vst, acording the connection diagram of typical vst, such OSCs, LFOs, Filters, ADSR, VCA, VCO, etc. Theoretical we can make Modular version of vst plugin. Can you make something like that? It would be useful to know the way of connections and under stand how Surge works, so also, how to make presets, programs.

@baconpaul57722 жыл бұрын
TreeMonster works best with monophonic signals - the pitch detector is a pretty naive zero crossing with averaging and hysteresis. But the FX itself is polyphonic so if you can send 16 monophonic signals on the poly channels you will get a better result than summing them first. As to recorded music, well the filters are there to help you shape the input to get good detection. It's a bit of an art.
@fuzzix2 жыл бұрын
@@baconpaul5772 Yeah, absolutely - in typical use I would send "monophonic" playing/soloing from a guitar, or make some recordings of short loops. I have been using Entrian's pitch/env follower for this. It's great, but it introduces some latency in my setup which can be tough to compensate for. Hoping a naive implementation will be snappier. Wait, what am I doing typing comments when I could be trying it out? This is amazing work - thanks!
@baconpaul57722 жыл бұрын
@@fuzzix ha ha! We’ve thought about decomposing it some after our first release also including giving it a cv out for detected tuning and perhaps also making the tracker a standalone narrow module - stay tuned and follow the announcements thread on community or just add it to the library when we are done and look for updates in 2023!
