I’ve had snook chafe through 80 pound leader… if you’re fishing for snook I’d upgrade to 40 flours at the least. You won’t get as many bites but you’ll catch more fish of a larger size. Just a suggestion right lines🤙
@cawbaird57113 жыл бұрын
You can also catch snook on 20 lb leader if it's hooked on the nail
@eastcoastoutdoors9023 жыл бұрын
@@cawbaird5711 you CAN… but more often than not (depending on how you play them) any fish overslot is going to chafe 20 pound before they chafe 40. It just gives you a better chance to catch bigger fish yk😂

best all around set up i agree im doin good with trout over here in sebastian right now the season is closed till jan 1 my go to is 1/8 oz zman on a 3in cal series shad i agree with the longer leader im always retying
@crashdsnowman14 ай бұрын
Agree, swapped to DOA after a couple packs of Zman (in original package) melted in top of the tackle box. man may last all day but when 6 melt at a time it doesn't matter.

The water in that area is typically dirty so I run 40 mono and never get chafed through on those big snook and I'm getting plenty of bites so they are not seeing it

You ever fish the Hernando Beach waters? Starting over at Aripeka and following the coast north thru to Hernando Beach, Chaasawitzka, thru to Homosassa even as far north as Crystal River/Kings Bay has been amazing this year. Legendary Tarpon in the Hernando Beach and Aripeka waters. Not even being hyperbolic for dRaMaTicS haha there are monster Tarpon rolling around. Always reds, snook, trout and even cobia like to come and play up this way. You have no idea how honored I'd be to show you round here one day! I'm not a creepy old dude or anything lmao I'm 27 just wish I had people to fish with.

As a suggestion - I left home a few weeks back and like a prat I left all my lures at home. I wekt into a shop and I see allthese lures by Crazy Fish. packs of 12 for $3. In my head Im thinking Cheap Shit. But got a pack of these Nano Minnows in rootbeer amd chartreuse. I had an amazing day. Trout,flounder,red. I went back couple days after and spent $40 on a mixture. I got nothing to do with the company so no sales pitch but Id honestly put them up against Gulp etc. They got a variety of sizes and different styles. Never seen them for sale in a tackle shop tho.

One word "monofilament"! Contrary to marketing it is more abrasion resistant. I still run 30lb mono leader and retie when I see any wear on line but holds better imo

How do you find a "flat" just a very shallow area?

Great job 👏! What color DOA cal would you recommend for typical clear water down in the keys? Heading to islamorada in December.
@SeeYaDude3 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend a more natural baitfish color like the Greenback or Arkansas Glow colors

Do you rig it weedless when fishing the flats for trout in the grass?
@SeeYaDude3 жыл бұрын
Not usually, the jig head doesn't seem to snag too much grass. But that is definitely an option if you start running into that issue

Drop that flourocarbon like a bad habit...mono's much better for abrasion. Stopped using flourocarbon about 10 years ago and have never looked back

Nice snook. Talk about idiot boaters... I get all kinds of kayakers and boaters going through my spots when I'm fishing. People are clueless and have no courtesy. It's interesting that you're getting mid-20's inch snook at the mouths of these channels off the ICW. I've been fishing further inland on rivers and I'm catching a ton of snook, but they're almost all small males in the 16-20" range with a few straggler females. I'm wondering if the females move deeper in the channels/rivers later than the males do. Anyone know?
