One of the best OVERHAULED EMD Loco : Indian Railways

The EMD (Electromotive Diesel ) Locomotives across the Indian Railways have a standard livery across all the Loco Sheds , the colors used are White-Blue for Passenger Class (as seen in the trail loco) and Cream-Turquoise for the Freight Class. These color schemes look pretty monotonous with more than a thousand of EMD's produced and running all across the network.
The Northeast Frontier Diesel Loco Shed Siliguri was the first shed to try out the Blue - Orange Color Scheme on few of their Passenger Class EMD WDP4 inspired by the Baaz Livery which was painted by Diesel Locomotive Workshop (DLW) at Varanasi on the one and only Fibre Glass cab WDP4 20012. (Note : Not all Locomotives are repainted in Orange- Blue)
Northern Railways Tughakabad / TKD Shed painted a few of their WDP4B EMD's to Red, the most famous one being WDP4B Prateek 40079.
South Western Railway Diesel Shed KJM / Krishnarajapuram has recently overhauled two of their Freight Class EMD's aka WDG4 to a new color scheme giving it a new look and feel which can be seen in the video.
The reason why its termed as the best overhaul is because the shed asked for suggestions from Train lovers in a common forum before painting their locomotive. KJM is probably the first shed to take livery suggestions from Rail fans which really makes us feel proud. We expect the shed to repaint more locomotives in the coming days and experiment new Color schemes that has been suggested similar to how ALCo's across various Diesel Shed's were given different color schemes.

Very serious effort in modernizing the railway and it shows. In 10 years you might be on par with China or America. In 30 years you will be on par with Germany and Japan for quality of railways. Keep it up. You are going places.

A few things to say. First, that V mark is something that we miss a lot on EMDs and P-7. It should be there on the locos as it makes them look more sleek, which is pretty apparent in WAG-9. Secondly, the buffers are kept black. This is quite good as on most locos they paint the buffers in white or silver which tend to wear off in a few days giving an ugly look to the loco face. This should be avoided altogether. Third, they can paint the cowcatchers with diagonal yellow stripes with the usual black in the background. That'll give a modern look to it. And finally, you're lucky to get a wave from the ALP which gives us a sense of achievement for our efforts.

GOC also repainted #12527 WDG_4 Piglet Monster in ALCO livery. Because of the new livery, only one disadvantage is there. WDG_4 has lost its Cute "Piglet Monster" look of its face.
