The movie "Ride Like a Girl" (about Michelle Payne, the only woman to ever win the Melbourne Cup). She came from a family of jockeys and trainers. They never pushed their horses to be in front early in the race, they always held back while the other horses tired out - then would make their move forward. Just as the winning jockey did in this race.

When a jockey knows, he knows. He could obviously feel something in the horse underneath him as he wouldn't have persevered otherwise. That horse was not travelling at all well for 80% of the race. Standing off jumps and distracted in between. But when he got him in contention, there wasn't a doubt who'd win. Superb ride and a great effort from the horse (eventually).

Hat's off to Sean Quinlan, he had to work really hard all the way around and he never gave up. He reminds me of A.P. McCoy the way he rode that horse , and I say that because A.P won a race similar to this one here regarding coming off the pace ( The 2009 William Hill Trophy ) It was probably one of the greatest rides I've ever seen by a Jockey . A. P never gave up on a flatfooted horse and he went on to win many a race when it looked absolutely impossible. Sean Quinlan is a great Jockey and I got many a win offa him . It's great to see a Jockey try really hard like Sean did here and get a win for the horses connections. What an amazing ride that was, and same for the horse the way he responded.

You are a typical mug punter . Don't ever do anything other than singles at 7/4 or higher

@@jackcack8709 Thanks for the reply Mr Cack,we can't all be great at betting and not all of us like to put massive amounts on,some of us even rely on our real jobs to earn a living and simply bet for a bit of fun.

Incredible ride especially when he only used his whip once or twice in the whole race, brilliant perseverance and such heart from the good old grey.

100 on that. I've been noticing that there've been quite an unusual number of amazing greys this year. Jimmy's definitely one of the contenders!

He used it more than twice, he used it around the 9f mark when he drove the horse on to catch up with the rest, then he used it 3-4 times in the final furlongs.

@@Rogue66669 I have seen horses hit a lot more times in some flat races, he never abused the horse in any way shape or form, brilliant jockey

@@mikeydrakesmith7661 yeah he never abused the horse, I didn't say he did. It was a fantastic ride by a fantastic jockey. I was being pedantic by pointing out he used the whip more than twice that's all.
