Enjoyed the video. Have you ever had contact with the Somers Family in North Pole, AK? They are a Christian Family that produces great YTube videos, "Somers in Alaska". Enjoyed this Vlog. Got a rea; "kick" out of your little one and his reaction to the snow.

being from Michigan and spending so much time in the UP , summers were great, but the winters you can't beat. I have some family in Alaska, and always wanted to go, but now they are going to be taking one of my legs off in the next year and I regret not doing more things sooner. my father has a cabin in the UP, near munising that he is selling ,( my mother passed away last week) and he is 76 so he can't travel by himself anymore, but my greatest memories are being in a cabin, with natural gas, wood stove , a generator that only ran for a couple hours in the evening after dark, because during the day it was snowmobiling , four wheeling or just walking through the woods . the sounds of the out doors and the quiet of the snow and the smells of nature were my best days . I am glad you took your kids to expierence all of that, because you honestly can't explain it until you have been there

Ok, now we got to add this to our bucket list. The coldest place we've ever been was Grand Forks North Dakota at Christmas a few years back. It was -35 with a wind chill of -50. We were in Denial in the end of may several years ago and we saw the entire mountain three days in a row. They told us that you almost never see it on back to back days.

Whooohoooo. Enjoyed your video. If you happen to get to Fairbanks you out to look up the Sommers family. They are awesome and do videos, also. At Christmas time they do something awesome each day until Christmas. Spend from $100 - $200 daily. They are an awesome Christian family. You two families would be great meeting each other!

This video brought tears to my eyes! Our first Iditarod was over 15 years ago when Anchorage had the heaviest snowfall on record. It is one of my best memories, including a beautiful Alaska Railroad ride to Fairbanks, and a dip in the Cheena Hotsprings, surrounded by snow laden trees. We love Alaska (Hubby Monty lived there for 12 years) but haven’t been in several years. It is time to return! Lois😊

We weren't actually supposed to go for another 3 years but travel costs were done last year so we were able to make it happen. But now we have a new problem... we all fell in love with Alaska and want to go back asap. Thankfully we have a friend that lives there to help reduce our travel costs

Oddball sidenote to the famous Balto story: he and fellow teammates were sold to the highest bidder and ended up chained up in a small novelty museum & freak show in Los Angeles. A Cleveland businessman was appalled at the horrible conditions and teamed up with a Cleveland newspaper to start a campaign, especially engaging participation by local schoolchildren. The overwhelmingly successful effort rescued Balto and his six companions and they were welcomed with a triumphant parade! After his passing, a taxidermist preserved him and he can be seen at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. (If you come through town… the museum is located in University Circle …a great cultural stop with the free Cleveland Museum of Art as well as the Botanical Garden to name a few)

Dog 3: maybe we should give ‘em these stupid boots! Dog 4: yeah! I’ve about had it with these things! Dog 5: man I hope they find Leon soon! All dogs in team letting out short barks and yips in support of their missing friend. ***Leon, one of the dogs from Sebastian Dos Santos Borges’ race team, was still missing as of 27 March 2022. The 3 yr old escape artist got out of his coat and collar on 13 March after running away once and being found. A reward and numerous volunteers along with photos of the dog have proved unsuccessful in finding Leon this far. Hoping and praying he’s been found!

We went dog sledding in Alaska in 2016. We took a helicopter through fjords to a glacier. The best experience ever! Those dogs are ready to run as soon they’re hooked up to the lines...tugging and barking incessantly ❤️. When the musher removed the stick (brake) from the snow we were off. She used her feet to steer the sleds. We went in June and there were several feet of snow on the glacier!!!
