Got a 100ml bottle and wore it a few times. I also have the EDP. Pretty similar fragrances. If you hate/love one, you’ll likely hate/love the other. Worth a purchase? Depends on how much you like Black Orchid’s signature. I prefer the new parfum but again, it’s not that different based on my admittedly limited experience. I agree with pretty much everything you said. Like the original, performance borders on too strong.

Spot on review !!! Perfect description ! I have no performance issues with the parfum version. I have both the edp (older batch) and parfum (batch A30 ) and prefer the parfum. However, I'm glad that I own both versions as they are somewhat different. Thanks as always for sharing

Just bought the parfum (gold bottle), and I've owned the eau de parfum (black bottle). The parfum is a long lasting, slightly more masculine scent that will turn heads wherever you go. Both bottles are amazing, but the parfum lasts all day. I am home now from a long day at work, and I still smell it on me. 👍🏾

Tried both of the EDP and Parfum awhile ago and honestly i could not tell the difference. They smelled exactly the same and i might just grab the EDP since it's a little bit cheaper.

As much as I say I’d love it. It is just so expensive that I’d rather buy two of the EDP. It isn’t the Parfum version, sure, but to me it probably doesn’t differentiate itself enough to justify its price doubling...

My Friend had gifted me the Tom ford black orchid perfume today ,( he does not like it 🤷🏻 ) this is strange one , it’s mature classy and dark and floral at the same time , it’s not my usual style but I kind of like it . Would I pay the full price for it ? no not me because it’s not that much of my style but I can see why some people would , it’s all about personal preference , I am happy that I finally have Tom ford in my collection now 👍🏻

My lady neighbor was wearing it yesterday as she was walking out her dogs, she said it was a sample she got from Sephora.I found the scent very rich and deep, and overall very elegant. You can tell this is not your average designer perfume. It's not very seductive though, it's more like for special events or galas.

I love Tom Ford's fragrances, this is no exception but I absolutely hate his pricing. I was glad Beau de Jour got shifted from his private line and into the designer line. But still most of his frags need to drop by $40+. They'd still remain in the top-ish range of pricing but I wouldn't feel a tad ripped off.

Patchouli in the Parfum is more spicy, savory. I found the EdP much sweeter, less harsh and more refined, even if it doesn't perform as well as the Parfum.

Black orchid is my favorite fragrance the Parfum was great but not worth the money to me because I like the edp more, they really hooked me in with the “stronger” plum accord but I could hardly smell the plum and I found it laying flatter on my skin then the edp.

Great review! I came to YT to find out what the difference was between the black and gold bottles. I found a sample of this yesterday when I was clearing out a drawer and skooshed some on. I must admit, at first I wasn’t too keen and scored it around 5/10. Around an hour later I changed my score to 7/10 and by the end of the day it was a firm 9.5/10 (nothing gets 10 😂). Then this morning I got a whiff of it when walking past the washing basket and to my shame I found myself pulling my top out of it and putting it back on today! (Don’t worry, I hadn’t planned on leaving the house and was just doing housework today). I am addicted to this scent! I went online to order some and found there were 2 kinds but luckily my sample was still inside the sample card which was gold so I decided to pop on here to find out what the difference was. Great review and I think I can safely leave the black bottle and go for gold! 🤩

Im from singapore, its humid and hot all year round. I rock it around 5 days a week to work (im in the funeral industry). I tried 3 sprays, wasnt enough. So i go 5 sprays, 1 on each side of the neck, 1 behind each ear, and 1 on my ponytail. Its got great projection the first couple hours, afterwards it settles down. I catch whiffs of it throughout the day (which is perfect because i love being able to smell what ive got on) The key to rocking this perfume (imo) is to look at is as an accessory you'd wear with a suit. (Eg. Tie, pocket square, dress watch, oxfords). If your day's outfit is able to comprise of any of this, then this frag would go well. (Eg. If you're wearing a polo tee, chinos, black leather shoes, this frag would suit well)

Its great. Nice balance of notes but too round and smooth. Aims to be appealing in a way the original wasn't. Agree. It is easier to wear for a man than the EDP but has much less edge.

For me it's vastly different. It maybe easier to wear but the performance is underwhelming - it's too light for a parfum...It wears different..The EDP projects way more and last longer - which is weird because the Parfum should be more potent. If Tom is asking me for more money for the gold I'm not looking for subtle.

Sanjiv Sir Suavage is famous for sure but the list of popular colognes is long. You would smell different colognes throughout the day. You might find this weird but many guys wear female perfumes which I dislike but I understand why. Saudi females prefer to smell unisex or female perfumes on guys. I love the original black orchid,, the new edp is nasty and not at all like my older bottle of edp. I bought it at Max Aroma. The edp smells terrible at first spray, but after a few mins it gets better. But nowhere near as nice as the edt. And no it does not last better. It doesn’t feel like a edp. This is nothing like the original. I regret buying it.

I tried this today. It's slightly stronger and deeper but I think this is just a cash in. Maybe if you don't have the EDP it's okay but I'd just get that. It's better and WAY cheaper. In addition, the bottle is (IMO) just bling garbage. Tacky and grotesque. It's probably what Tom Ford customers define as 'luxury'.
