A few years ago I bred golden doodles. My first litter had a great story. About a year after they left 2 owners contacted me to say they took their pup to a local dog park. Each entered at the same time but different entrances, both dogs broke away and immediately ran to each other very happy to see one another. The owners of course talked and figured out they were siblings. It is such a heart warming story.

Hi Ms. Jessica. Here's the lady with Bear's sister, "Hey George", George is her husband, "does that dog look like Fanny to you or is it just my imagination?" George: "Wow, hot diggity dog, they could be siblings." What an amazing story Ms. Jessica. God bless, take care.

Here in Norway, a lot of the farmers also work as stand by plowing crew in case of snow fall, because they own tractors and have the equipment. This january we've had over 100 cm of snow where I live, and farmers have been on the road plowing almost around the clock, in addition to having to deal with snow on their own property, water freezing, electricity breakage, trying to keep the heat up indoors (got down to -30C), caring for their animals, etc etc. They are real life heroes, for sure!

Sweetie, you can always cry over your awesome doggie as far as I'm concerned. My son was 8 years old when we lost Miss Brown, his wonderful old boxer dog. He woke in the night for weeks, crying his heart out because she was gone, and I still can't think of that time without tearing up, even though my boy will be 36 in a few days. Now he has his dog, Levon, and that's his dear buddy. Thank you as always, for sharing your life and thoughts with us.💕

Hey Jess, There are once in a lifetime dogs. I always told my wife as soon as we get a house I am getting a dog some type of golden retriever or retriever. A few years later the day we closed on our house I went to work and another nurse asked me if I knew anyone that wanted a puppy. I asked her what kind of dog she said half golden retriever and half black lab. I said I will take it! she said you haven't seen it and I told her God told me years ago once I buy a house I will get a puppy. I shared I closed on a house this morning and this is my gift from Jesus. The next day I went and got her. She was my dog 24 hours a day! After I lost my wife she was my best best friend! When she met my new wife she went right to her and I knew. I would drive to see her and get there open the door she would run right in the house while I was still in my truck. Her name was Honey and it fit so well. She helped me through some of the very worst days. thank you for the video today. Steven

That is SO COOL about Bear and his litter mates!! How awesome is that?? I had my "soul dog" for 15 years. A black lab named Molly. Someone dropped her off at our farm and she and I were best buds. My hubby was an EMS helicopter pilot for years, before he retired. He flew mostly nights and Molly was my protector and my company. She went to the garden, the clothesline, the mail box, on walks, she listened to my fears and would comfort me when there were tears. She adored all our grandkids and was a great guard dog when someone came around that she didn't know especially when my hubby was at work. She scared off the coyotes and loved the cats. We lost her to kidney failure two years ago and I still mourn her. No other dog will ever take her place in my heart.

Hi Jess, I know it's very early on in planning for your home, but I have a few suggestions. Mostly to plan for aging, but also for just in case something happens. I highly recommend a square bathroom with a "Roll In Shower". Not a walk in, but a roll in. Wide hallways, no narrower than 36". And a kitchen with 32" to 36" clearance around a kitchen island. Walk in closet(s) with a 36" doorway. Actually, all doorways being 36" wide would be smart. It's nice to have these measurements even with able bodied people.
@diannemiller4754
@diannemiller4754 5 ай бұрын
I agree with wider doorways. A friend even put in doors that slid inside the wall. These are what I would have done had I built a home. Looking to the future as we age.

One year my friend's brindle cattle dog made an unplanned breeding with her basset hound. Several years later I walked into a veterinarian's office and saw this homely adorable brindle spotted basset hybrid, and I knew what litter it had come from. The owner confirmed it as soon as I inquired, and I had fun calling my friend to tell her I saw her pup.

Aw, that's the sweetest thing about finding Bear's siblings! It took me years to get over the loss of my childhood dog, but a few years ago I fell instantly in love with a boxer at a pet store rescue. He was more than likely used as a bait dog before we adopted him, and just skin and bones. He "ate" three couches due to separation anxiety within the next few years, but he fit a space in my heart that I didn't think another dog would ever fit. I don't know that I'll ever have another dog like those two again. I "get" your excitement and understand that connection that you can't really explain.

Jess, your 'twice in a lifetime' dog story warms my heart and gives me hope. My 'once' in a lifetime dog---a Chesapeake named Mandy----was our family's dog growing up, and crossed the rainbow bridge decades ago now. I still think of her every day. Since moving out of my parents' home, I have yet to become a pet parent, due to work schedules, 'no animal' rules with landlords, etc. But very soon, I will be in a position to finally have a dog!! And it's crossed my mind--"will I love it as much as I did/do Mandy". I adore all dogs, and have had the good fortune to love several throughout my adult life--friends, family's pets---they were all great in their own ways, but in my heart did not compare to my long-ago Chessie. While I am very much looking forward to having animals again, I know none of them will ever be my Mandy---but hearing your "Bear' experience tells me lightning can indeed strike twice. Fingers crossed. LOL

“Good dogs” mean trained dogs. They just don’t happen which many kid dog owners don’t know because the parents trained it then they allow their dogs to develop bad behavior People tend to blame the dog or excuse the dog. Instead of doing the HARD work of having boundaries and keeping them. Barely dogs today are a dime a dozen as people don’t know the basics and allow bad behavior as they don’t care that they are part of society. Please learn how to train a dog. Can not tell you how our neighborhood is terrorized by unsocialized untrained dogs that actually hurt and scare people. Dogs that are highly trained and socialized have more freedom and they are more content. Also dogs are not people or children which is the first wrong assumption bad pet owners project onto their dogs. Good luck!!!
@karenokeane6461
@karenokeane6461 5 ай бұрын
@@Lifetimelearningisbrave Am keenly aware of all you mention. OF COURSE, proper training is KEY. Equally key is the animal's temperament, which is unique unto the animal itself. And level of intelligence, which can vary greatly amongst breeds. The list goes on, as you know. LOL I entered my Chessie in several agility/dog show competitions, just for fun, since I knew her strengths/attributes, and how she'd enjoy dock diving and prancing around a ring. LOL In that particular dog's case, it was far more her temperament and level of intelligence than any extensive training. Every animal is different, and it's up to the 'pet parent' to pay close attention, and act accordingly....communicate and train. I plan on having the same breed--Chesapeake Bay Retriever---since their general characteristics mesh well with my lifestyle...but who knows whether the new dog will have all those traits (my first one did, across the board, every last one) or just a few, or none at all?? We shall see. I appreciate your insight, as it is great advice for anyone who has pets in their lives. :) I strongly believe we don't give our domestic pets enough credit in their levels of intuition and intelligence.....they understand far more than most give them credit for, and can be directed/focused away from bad behaviors. :)

Talking about cold weather AND building a house, I’ve recently discovered James of @ wild Homestead. He’s an absolute hoot 😂 Building his mini house (to practice before a main house) in the Canadian wilderness in deep snow. His humble yet Viking approach to build a beautiful homestead for his future wife (not got one yet) and their ten children (pipe dream), is, IMO, refreshing. He makes me LOL. His latest upload might provide encouragement to those building by error and In below zero snowdrifts. Hashtag Recommended viewing instead of the Oscars 😂

My “soul dog” was Heidi. She was a Lhasa mix. She loved massages…I would put lotion on her belly and she would fall asleep. When someone would come over she would run to them and roll over on her back and pee all over herself. Then I would bathe her and always used the hair dryer on her with a soft brush and of course the lotion…my husband said Heidi had me wrapped around her little paw. I silently agreed with him, yes but it was a very good wrap!!❤❤❤

When we got ready to have our log home built I put together a binder with all my finishes door knobs, cabinet pull, lights, toilets, tubs, showers, tile in each bathroom, sinks. I had Formica counters put in but have since changed them to quarts (bad mistake anything that drops on them scatters into a million pieces) should have done butcher block. Planning on changing my flooring to water proof vinyl flooring, it is easy to clean and looks beautiful both great for farm living and dogs. I basically went from room to room in my head and listed my finishes. I made a copy for me and one for my builder. I drafted my own house plans and electrical layout. I wanted a plugins every 6 to 8 feet along the walls. I highly recommend you put in 2 sinks in your kitchen, you won't regret it. Another thing you might want to put since you have so many men in your home consider a urinal in the boys bathroom. Can't wait to start watching your house being built.

We had a whole week of snow/ice and temps of -15f. This is not "normal" for our area in SE Tennessee. I didn't venture out as I am 69 with issues balance due to inner ear. However, Halo our black lab/pit mix loved it while Cash our full pit wanted nothing to do with it! Our cats loved watching the snow fall and cuddled on the couch and any warm surfaces they could find. ( The top of the dryer was coveted 22:42 by some while other curled around the coffee maker or crockpot) they finally found the multiple afghans and fleece blankets that we brought out and everyone was happy. Now it's raining and in the high 50's low 60s. And is supposed to rain tomorrow and all weekend. So towels by the back door for the dogs is staying in place.

This is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while. How awesome to come across people like that. I just recently had to put my Great Dane down then a few months later at my work a new employee just had a litter of Great Dane puppies. Jasmine came home and her brother and her sister went to two other employees. So we are watching each sibling grow and play dates. So much fun. Enjoy your channel so much.

That is so awesome to find his siblings, I hope they get a meet up, maybe a zoom gathering or something. I know my husband is so connected to his Shepard/malenwa. Our lab Bentley is truly dear to me. He is so many things to me. Both dogs remind me of dogs I've had before. Maybe that's what you talking about, the connection between a dog you used to have and the one you have. Pretty great thing 😎❣️😎

Aww that’s such a sweet story about Bear and his siblings 🥹 My soulmate cat was the absolute sweetest and my best friend has her sister. I’ll never forget her (she passed last year) and whenever I see her sister I am reminded of how amazing and loving she was ❤

What a fun story! I have to tell you, the other day I planted some Heather seeds, and I kid you not, two hours later I checked on them. 😂. I thought of you and it made me smile!

I did Embark with both of my dogs since they are mutts. For my younger dog Dorothy the one close relative that matched with her looked identical even down to the spotting patterns. Based on when the relative was tested he was definitely a couple years older than her, but they had shared 90% of their DNA. Despite her coming from a different state the relative lived in a tiny town only 30 minutes away. I was super excited and messaged them hoping we could talk but they never read my message. I was really wishing we could compare our dogs and their backstories. All I knew about Dorothy was she was born at a different rescue but was transferred to the rescue I got her from when it became obvious when she had medical issues that would make it hard to get her adopted (she has cerebellar hypoplasia). Her results also came back with a COI(coefficient of inbreeding) of 74%. In other words, three quarters of the DNA she inherited from her mom was identical to what she inherited from her dad. From my calculations it would take more than seven generations of sibling/sibling or parent/child breeding to get it even close to that percentage. Which makes me guess that they probably came from a hoarding situation. But this just brought up questions on how/when the dogs were rescued since the other dog was adopted at least 6+ months before my dog was born. I would have thought all the dogs would have been removed from the home at the same time. Now I am just hoping that one day I will randomly run into them someday.

I commented a few days ago that I was germinating a package of broccoli seeds packaged for 2018. I can't remember the exact number of seeds but it was well over 300. They have sprouted and so far I have filled two 72 cell trays, planted some in the greenhouse and there's still a bunch more in the germination tray! It's been a fun experiment but I will be eating some for sprouts for sure.

Hey Jess. Bears story is just a testament of the impact you’ve had on this KZbin community . I pray that you don’t tire impacting lives, that you will always have joy doing it, and never feel pressured to do what you do best. Do you ever feel pressured to post content?

If you know you know 🐾🥰😻 Mine was also a dog named Bear - a black lab/Newfoundland mix who I had for more than a decade (got him at about 2-3 years old). He was definitely one of those once in a lifetime dogs. Such a fun sweet connection story!!!

Hi Jess. Dogs are our family. Now your 4 legged family is extended. Yay. Life without dog has an empty space in my opinion. Congrats to the boys enjoy dinner out. And I know you’ll love that new hose. ! Aren’t you a lovely lucky gal with that talented hubby! Can’t wait to watch the house come to life

Love the dog story 🥰 I ran into a lady with one of my dogs pups at the gas station! They had very unique colors and markings (Red Heeler & Samoyed mix) so was easy to spot! Fun connecting and always a relief to know the pups got a good home

One of my biggest home build regrets was being so focused on where the house we designed would fit kn then property in regards to driveway+front door+ garage that my kitchen window wound up on the north side of a portion of the house that stuck out(our house was T shaped with an attached garage) so my kitchen window got zero direct sun and the kitchen window was also overlooking the side yard and a small deck and a side door only a few feet away around the corner, I couldn't do a greenhouse window or grow herbs in the kitchen window. I was so sad!

Every year I’ve been saving seeds from my broccoli that bolts so that I can just grow a bunch of micro greens! Which is quite often because the weather is constantly changing here lol. I’m near Lake Erie.
