She busted out and set music on its head. She was 16/17 when she and her older brother put this album together in their childhood home. Think about that. No music brass telling her she had to be just like other artists, both in appearance & sound. This came out in 2919. Not only does she have 7 Grammy’s, she has an Oscar. In 4 years. Generational talent. Those gifted few that come along and make changes to the collective consciousness. Chris Stapleton is another. Stevie Ray Vaughan. Jim I Hendrix. Love her.

That one is almost my favorite - it only isn't because several are so timeless and many are so different. E.G. I love "When I was Older" and "Halley's Comet" (esp. in concert) is beautiful - same with "No Time to Die" (in concert or at the Oscars). The thing about "idontwannabeyouanymore" is Billie was 15!!! Also, when I listen to covers from like Teddy Swims, Kelly Clarkson and a host of others, I realize many artist/singers hear Billie like you and I do.

Fuck yeah, my dude. This is one of my favorite Billie tracks. Seeing it live is even better. The song is inspired by and is partly about sleep paralysis. Billie used to suffer from that. It was also inspired by a childhood book that billie used to read called The Babadook.

I believe the song is better than the video! I think it's a dope video [at 69 I'm adapting to the word 'dope'; as a boomer, I'd say 'cool', 'neat', maybe far out, maybe even 'wild"] Billie was 17 in this awesome video, but for the last 2 years, when I play my CD in my car, I don't need the video, and I still think the song is terrific - what other song has a dentist's drill in it, recorded by Billie herself when her dentist was drilling away in her mouth!? If you are interested in Billie's vocal versatility and on-stage performance, perhaps watch Billie sing "Sally's Song" from Danny Elfman's "Nightmare before Christmas" ["lucid" you tube channel, Oct. 30, 2021]; or watch her cover Peggy Lee's "Fever" at the Hollywood Bowl [SoCalLiveitLive Channel, July 27, 2022] - Billie is phenomenal; she also does a duet with Debbie Harry (of "Blondie" fame, e.g. "Heart of Glass") covering Peggy Lee's "Is That All There Is"]. I recommend you watch them for yourself, not us! Then you don't have to work it in to your reactor schedule - it'll be because you love music. Oh, and if you want to take a really deep dive, watch Peggy Lee singing "Fever" from 1963 with Jack Sperling as percussionist - its on you tube channel txikecouto from July 25, 2012 - I truly believe it will be worth your time - it will make you feel good.
