Mac amps are beautifully made there sound is effected a lot by there using autoformers on the output these are exspencive and hard to make mac all wise made these very well and this was a necessary component in a tube amp but unneeded in any transistor amp it’s convenient to put the same power in to different loads but it’s big advantage is clipping any transformer or autoformer can’t pass a square wave so they Soren the clip and cancel out the odd harmonics these are the ones the brain doesn’t like

One of the best things Mac did was to have no insulation between the outputs and the heatsink it of course there hot so inside of a tube cage so on this they are isolated

I am in the market for McIntosh amps, however I am not sure what to get. I have Linn Klimax 350 passive speakers, 1000 watt each. I want to start with first as a music system and then gradually use it as a home theatre as well. What would you recommend that works both for listening to music and use as a home theatre?

Hi there, this is an amplifier. The controls you're referencing are found on preamplifiers, and yes on a lot of McIntosh (vintage and modern) there are dedicated knobs/controls for treble, bass, balance, EQ and more.

I was not impressed with this amplifier, it’s pretty to look at, but when you listen to it the sound is very unimpressive , muddy , no low end , boring . Old technology. (Early 2000s )

I've had this amp for many years. I play a lot of music with low end. I've owned many amps. This one is the best. By far. "Old Technology" is responsible for some of the best audio masterpieces and sound signatures that exist today. I get that everyone has their own taste but if you venture and read the reviews, you will read of others with the same perspective. There's a reason why this amp has held it's value for so long.
