I've been a patron for OPR for a little over a year, they have hands down the best deal for TT Wargaming there is nowadays. It is extremely good to see that the community is growing!

OPR is an amazing system. I love that my models can all be used in such a great game.

I have been playing OPR solo campaign for years now. I love it!! I am trying to get a group together at my local hobby shop.

Wehn compared to the last few 40k rulesets, indeed 1page rules is more fun and alows for deeper more blanced gameplay than vanilla 40k. We play many other games now, but when we play 40k, we use 1page rules with a few house rules.
@6PlusSave Жыл бұрын
I am very much glad to hear. Using some house rules can add some nice flavour into the games

I probably wouldn't have gotten into the hobby this past year if not for OPR. The accessibility and ease of understanding the rules has been a God send.
@6PlusSave11 ай бұрын
So very glad to hear that.

Getting into gdf, loved our first game. We're going to do randomly generated 2k armies each game, once we both have all the units to do so
@brianrayburn440 Жыл бұрын
I absolutely love this system. I've played GW games since Rogue Trader in the early 90s, and this is the best one yet. The rules are simple, with enough variety to keep it from becoming stale. Please try out Firefight/Skirmish. These are my favorite level of game, and OPR does it so well. Thanks for giving these games more exposure!
@6PlusSave Жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more! I will give the game systems a go when I get some willing volunteers.

There army builder online is pretty good. One thing to notice is that the points are very old gw levels. So 1000 points is more like a GW combat patrol level of game. You also still have wargear as costed options but unit is limited to multiple of fixed numbers like 3 or 6, 5 or 10, 10 or 20 using the combining unit rules.
@6PlusSave Жыл бұрын
That is very true. Which for someone who is an old school player they could enjoy. But also, in the fixed multiples, it does stop it being overwhelming. But it does stop it being fully customised in your builds.

During the recent OPR update stream they announced they would release all paper mini armies for free. Excluding the most recent ones. They sent me 6 full armies in an email! The newest paperminis will be released fof patreon members and then after a set amount of time they will be released free. I think he said after 5 month?

That is all great news.

I just bought a printer and have printed myself a 1000pt Ratmen army (I sold my old skaven army a long long time ago) and I am actively trying to get a couple people in my small community on the west coast of Canada excited about OPR. I am finding that it may be a slippery slope however as we all want to support our local shop Gamepoint, but OPR doesn't offer sales licenses yet, I truly hope they do and allow retailers to sell physical models for the folks that don't have printers and have hit the entry barrier when it comes to GW products. I am totally on board with OPR now......and I used to work for GW.
@6PlusSave11 ай бұрын
I honestly thought they did do sales licences through their patrons.

Something you could do to entice people to play with you could be to make a small separate army that they can choose to play as

OPR will surpass GW given enough time. GW only advantage at this point is an established history of lore. I would like to revisit this topic in another five years.
@6PlusSave Жыл бұрын
I would say the same. They are growing their lore. But GW does have a good headstart on them.

Im on thier patreon for about 6 month. started as a total bloody newby to the hobby as a whole. That said im painting up my 3th army and having a blast with the game. The 10 pound/euro patreon feels sometimes like im robbing them and thats without the 50- 70% discount on thier shop. The value is insane, OPR is the future of war gaming

I think so many people out there are in the same boat (which is a good thing) Very much glad you are enjoying it.

Always wanted to play 40k. Then I got a 3D printer, took OPR and changed terms into 40k and then printed my models in 20mm. All my 40k friends sold their stuff and now we play our own version. Get faster games with smaller minis.
@6PlusSave Жыл бұрын
I am so glad to hear that you have been able to make it your own. And making it so inviting for your friends as well.

I think mini-agnostic rules + 3d Printing is definitely gonna be the way to go. Of course, as always the issue is getting people to look away from GW long enough to try it. In my area I'd be cussed out for even daring to mention something like OPR, even if people can use their 40k models for it, and I have no idea why.
@6PlusSave Жыл бұрын
I do think the same. I am struggling to get people to give it a look at

In many respects the past is the future in gaming ( IMO). As a worthwhile hobby, gaming has to reclaim its autonomy and soul from the clutches of mindless consumption and goblin FOMO.
@6PlusSave10 ай бұрын
I do feel OPR allows people to have a lot more freedom.

I haven't bought any Games Workshop miniatures in ages. The available models for using One Page Rules are superior, IMO. I back a lot of patreons. One of my favorites is Avatars of War and over time I have put together a better Orc army than anything you can buy from GW. Add to that the fact that Fantasy REgiments hasn't existed in GW for ages, I have no reason to ever go back. I've been using StationForge to put together a Grim Guard Army which would have costed thousands for similar Death Korps models from ForgeWorld.

Basically OPR is being able to cover so many different game systems and armies for so many people. Which is amazing 👏
@telleryoutube4458 Жыл бұрын
Im pretty convinced that GW is paying to keep OPR unsearchable, or hard to find. lol
@6PlusSave Жыл бұрын
I do think people that started wargaming from GW. Are either afraid to look outside or don't know there are other gone systems, sometimes.
@Toqtamish129 Жыл бұрын
Those epic models you showed are not the loyalty models. Those are regular legendary releases
@6PlusSave Жыл бұрын
I do believe there is some loyalty ones, like the sisters of battle knight proxy model they have done. But fair enough.
@Toqtamish129 Жыл бұрын
There is yes. Battle sisters Titan and Rat Priest on giant rat ogre are the current ones. You get them after 3 consecutive months of membership.

Is it the future... only GW can decide that one. The way they have been going... looks likely. on my gaming club's tables opr has replaced 40k/AOS. Other games have filled the rank n flank void. I was at asoiaf tournament this weekend and just shooting the breeze with locals that are not club remembers to try and gauge where the wider community is and it seems split. Now this was a sample of people in the store and the owners/staff so under 20 people total. But there was almost a 50/50 split on GW vs OPR... GW did win 10 to 7 and add one for OPR if we count me. However game size, army vs skirmish was interesting. Skirmish got 14 votes and army just 3... add my vote to skirmish for me.

meh, opr is simply too simple for my taste. Not enough flavor to change it up.
@6PlusSave Жыл бұрын
I can certainly see how it can be too simple compared to so many games out there. It is its greatest strength but also its greatest weakness
